The first one is literally just a breakfast casserole. Like, I know people forget about casseroles outside of the context of Thanksgiving green bean casserole and weird 1950s foods, but I’m pretty sure at least anybody in the South or Midwest US would recognize the “protein bars.” Though that recipe looks better than the one I do, I’ll try that out next time I make it!

My favourite meal prep trick is to make soup with half the amount of water you would want, then fill my lunch containers only halfway and store in the fridge. When I bring it to work, I leave it at room temperature in the morning, and instead of microwaving it, I just use the boiling water function from the lunchroom coffee machine (or you could use a kettle) to fill up the container. That way you can make lunch for a week with a regular size pot even if you like big lunches, and if you have access to a machine that dispenses boiling water, it's even faster to heat up than using a microwave.
I watch pretty much every episode of Mythical Kitchen, and I don't ever really comment, but I really enjoyed this more down-to-earth quick and dirty style of cooking because I'm not that skilled in the kitchen and these recipes seemed like things I myself not only could but WOULD make. So thank you, I hope you guys make more content like this! (Not that I don't love your regular stuff too)
This is my favorite mk video so far, probably because it hit so close to home and made me hungry, I make that last one all the time with various ingredients and call it “bowl meal”. Nice work!!!
So YT recommended my Mythical Kitchen and I've just been letting the algo slowly take me through the backlog. And I am very quickly falling in love with the slop method. I always called it Stuff With Things In It, but bowl of slop has now been added to my vocabulary. Idk, I'm glad to see someone else with the same methodology to cooking, because while I embrace my penchant for peasant food, not many people I know appreciate it in the same way.
5:15 Josh you revived a memory i had. Back when I was younger there was this time my mom put an egg pan in the sink with egg still on it. It had soapy water all in it and I would just pick off the stuck eggs and eat it

I have never felt so personally attacked until josh's anecdote about having old limes in your fridge due to cocktail purposes then being too lazy to get a cutting board and knife to cut half a lime then leave the other lime half to inevitably dry out in the fridge
The thing that irks me every episode: the neglected remainder in every prep bowl. Is it too much to ask to scrape the bowls clean? Why must there always be a small handful of ingredients leftover in each bowl, to be inevitably discarded wastefully?
Thank you for proving that meal prep does not have to be just chicken and rice 5 days a week by providing simple, easy to prepare dishes and giving variety of suggestions of how to apply them in different dishes! This is how Ive been meal prepping for years! Me, personally, I'm perfectly fine with eating left overs for lunch and dinner. I spice it up midweek with some good Ole box Mac and cheese or a protein packed burrito and call that dinner.

(Not that I don't love your regular stuff too)
I still make the eggs and meat balls. They're both so freaking good. Josh I need you to make more of these.
Josh just unloaded so much of his personal inconveniences the whole time and I’m living for it
the pork “transmogrifies” does it turn from a goblin into a beautiful halfling?
like four people are gonna get that joke here
It does... Nott >u>
I see you and I respect you so much!
A very Brave joke
@@King_of_Red_Lions you get a prize. it’s a cursed dagger.
@@Kai-rm5pn ahh no respect needed!! just saying what happens in my head
This is my favorite mk video so far, probably because it hit so close to home and made me hungry, I make that last one all the time with various ingredients and call it “bowl meal”. Nice work!!!
Love the chaotic meal prep!
This is literally the neurodivergent food experience. I needed this today.
5:15 Josh you revived a memory i had. Back when I was younger there was this time my mom put an egg pan in the sink with egg still on it. It had soapy water all in it and I would just pick off the stuck eggs and eat it
I’d love to see healthy dinner ideas. I’m a college student on a budget trying to eat healthy/clean and would really like recipes that’re nutritious. Thanks, love you guys!
More Josh meal prep videos!!
I was actually on a cruise where a man went overboard. No they do not stop the boat. The Coast Guard is notified, if you’re near a country (we were near Nassau) they are notified and they search for the person. They never found the guy from my cruise, I don’t know if they’ve ever found anyone who goes overboard.
the "protein bars" gave me an idea about a granola and custard breakfast bar,i need to try that now 😅
I am always struck with inspiration to do things like that at around 2:00 AM.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 always note them in your phone, you never know lol
Baked oatmeal is also a thing.
13:45 definitely love josh using an oyster shucker to remove the ham bone... instead of... the deboning knife on the magnet strip behind him...
that hot bite made me laugh snot everywhere
I think this video is going to do more good for the world than Josh originally thought. I'm glad y'all made it.
I'm glad to know I cook dinner like a real chef. Bowl of slop is my specialty. Also, has Josh considered ASMR with that slurp?
Only two recipes in, but so excited about this type of vid o and info. I always wanted to get into meal prep but it never stuck or felt right. This feels RIGHT.
Please call your “protein” egg bars Egg-Gos! That would be hilarious and wonderful
holy jeebus the editing style, chaotic/"lazy" hacks, and Josh's narration are honestly REALLY working with my ADHD...I'm gonna have to try these
You made a frittata and cut it into strips… gotta love it when people give their own special names to dishes that already exist.
Love seeing these easy and healthy meals. Thank you from a mom of 4!~
Me every time I get done cooking: "slop's ready!"
Love that pork recipe can’t wait to try it!! Also Josh if you see this can you make a video showing what basic and essential cooking tools everyone should have in their kitchen! Please and thank you!
I am soooo waiting for the episode where Brad Leone joins in on the insanity. Would be the best ever
Already happened. Don't get your hopes up. It was weird.
Can't possibly relate more to his cat comments... 😂 it makes me appreciate Josh all the more!
you don't know what the Hamptons are? they are cities on Long Island New York. Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton
Make more of these!! I need more meal prep recipes
I want to see Sam The Cooking Guy on Last Meal
I never comment, but would love to see more of these!! And hear more about josh’s overall eating. Like does he calorie count when he was cutting? How much a day does he eat. Other meal prep stuff. Etc. love this!
Awesome, more of this type of "meal prep" style videos. Stuff I can do at home for cheap and minimal effort.
My family makes that first recipe but with bacon instead of sausage and we put premade puff pastry ( Pillsbury soughboy stuff) on the bottom and add an extra layer of chedder on top- we refer to it as "egg bake"
Dang that slop bowl looks tasty. I think I'll try the protein bars.
Love the recipes in description. The pork salsa prep is dope
I wanna see him deep fry one of those egg bars
This is the video I’ve been waiting for. More meal prep videos please!
Might just be me but I would love to see more vegan and vegetarian dishes from Mythical kitchen, maybe starting with a meal prep similar to this? Either way, love your work guys!
I also would love more vegan, vegetarian stuff. I'm not even vegetarian but I want to incorporate more of it into my diet.
Josh made the "Down with a Sickness" noise trying to choke down that bar of egg 😂
Please make more meal preps! Every other tutorial I see is so pretentious. I don’t want to give thanks to the seven divinities of superfood; I want to make sure I have delicious, tasty food for my busy week and/or executive dysfunction (depression) meals
Also I know everyone in the comments is saying this is a frittata; I’m not disagreeing, but the more on brand title should probably be along the lines of “Josh’s Morning Thick Bricks”
I have never felt so personally attacked until josh's anecdote about having old limes in your fridge due to cocktail purposes then being too lazy to get a cutting board and knife to cut half a lime then leave the other lime half to inevitably dry out in the fridge
Did you say meatball grilled cheese? It's a melt Josh, your words!
I think this would be an awesome series, show us at the end of the month some of the awesome meal preps youve done.
The thing that irks me every episode: the neglected remainder in every prep bowl. Is it too much to ask to scrape the bowls clean? Why must there always be a small handful of ingredients leftover in each bowl, to be inevitably discarded wastefully?
😭😭😭😭 This kinda bugs me too tbh there's so much left there 🙆♀️
Thank you for proving that meal prep does not have to be just chicken and rice 5 days a week by providing simple, easy to prepare dishes and giving variety of suggestions of how to apply them in different dishes! This is how Ive been meal prepping for years! Me, personally, I'm perfectly fine with eating left overs for lunch and dinner. I spice it up midweek with some good Ole box Mac and cheese or a protein packed burrito and call that dinner.
Feels illegal to be this early
Ikrr
More of these videos please. Love it. Gonna try them all.
This is exactly how I like to cook for myself, but significantly sadder. I'm currently regretting ever becoming vegetarian.
I make chicken in the slow cooker with jarred salsa like that! Even lazier, and can be shredded, cubed, etc for whatever tickles your fancy. Chicken, 2-3 jars of salsa, pre-mixed taco seasoning and you’re done
