Lily reminds me of the chaotic cat who walks in during the cooking process and just starts creating chaos without any hint of shame afterwards. It's like Josh is in the middle of a sketch and he's the only one who didn't get a script.

Once upon a time I was worried if Lily would fit in but she was in fact made for this show and its particular breed of chaos.

I always make my deep fried onions from scratch, and often in bulk because if you fry them at a low temperature until they dehydrate, they keep for a couple of weeks in a mason jar on the shelf and they're great for dressing up vegetable sides, sandwiches and burgers, or soups. Plus, you don't have to figure out where, exactly, in the grocery store they keep the fried onions.

They keep 'em next to the croutons and salad toppings. At least most places.
@@calypsosaren3231 I did finally find them in the snacks aisle next to the potato chips and peanuts, but I still make them at home because I always have onions in the house, and it's a convenient thing to do while heating oil for something else because you're putting them in at a lower temperature and, small as they are, they don't drop the oil temp. Plus, you control the seasoning, not French's.
I host thanksgiving for my husbands work buddies (a bunch of army dudes) for the last 11 years and cook all the food and people bring desserts and drinks and such.
These are actually super usueful tips and it's not the first time ive actually used tips from this channel in my real life cooking, which is genuinely rare. Thank you 🥺
This are good tips that people might actually need. An undercooked turkey? Lump gravy? I've also burnt the top of the green bean casserole in my early years of making Thanksgiving. Sweet potato casserole used to be the one I always burnt, so I made sure to have extra marshmallows just in case.
@alisaishere I don't usually burn anything but the blending the gravy? I'm so happy to know that now. And the Mac n cheese thing with the cornstarch? I'll definitely be using that one, too. Just so useful!

My favorite thanksgiving was 1996 my dad got drunk af and threw the turkey in the yard and tried to fistfight us. I went to the neighbors and got stoned af and had green enchiladas, drank a lot of crown watched the Cowboys play. Great year

In the vein of cursed Thanksgiving, I would love to see a Thanksgiving meal cooked entirely in a crockpot, be that one crockpot full of every meal or 12 crockpots of different dishes. Either way, a big mushy meal, including a whole turkey

Foil method works for frozen pizza too! If your crust doesn't cook all the way through to the bottom, cover the top of your pizza with foil so the toppings don't burn and put it back in the oven :)

my mom once turned on the broiler on thanksgiving and forgot there were things in that little drawer below the oven.......needless to say we have a burnt cookbook still in our possession

As a norwegian, I have never celebrated Thanksgiving. And after this, Im certain I never will😂
There's a growing trend in the US to skip the elaborate traditional holiday meal. A lot of people just don't feel like the meal is enjoyable if you stressed all day over the stove. Simpler meals like pasta, precooked ham that just needs to be warmed, simpler sides, desserts from a bakery.
It really makes the day more enjoyable.
@@bcayemy parents and I used to do “tapas-giving” where we would just do a whole range of small plates/appetizery things. One year we went for appetizer trays, like cheese/charcuterie and smoked salmon.
