I love how the LEAST qualified people to make laws, are the ones making laws
This is America land of the free. So free that you can't do abortion
The sad part is - A lot of politicians are lawyers.
One would think this should make better written laws but it does not, and America is a prime example of that. Instead of containing well defined terminology, the vast majority of the Laws written in America contain 'flowery text' and words that hold little to no common meaning. My prime example of this is 'reasonable,' a word that never should be found in a law book because 'reasonable' is entirely subjective.
Almost as if the entire point is to create that ambiguity in which Lawyers argue and debate!
@@lostbutfreesoul you make a great point. A very sad one, but a great one nonetheless.
it always takes two to tango: this Dickson fellow needed the elected Texan lawmakers to back up his nutty design. it should be unconstitutional to give a private citizen the right to sue another citizen or a corporation for something where the claimant/plaintiff has no beef in. neither his property nor his rights or anything that pertains to the plaintiff is at stake here. this is ludicrous.
@A P He did admit recently that bill was bad. He did have the backing of the Democratic Black Caucus when he helped write it. Funny thing is, the GOP hated the bill because it wasn't tough enough. They thought it was way too lax

Cooraline, YES!!!!! Exactly.
Why did he even bother to mention his virginity?
Wearing the official INCEL uniform.
I love how he chose Batman, because IN-UNIVERSE he was treated as just as dangerous as the villains he was fighting and it took him years to get the general public on his side. Also he's fake and real-life vigilantes normally end up less as Batman, and more of a racist caricature of Punisher.
That's unfair to Punisher. Frank's got principles and knows full-well that he himself deserves to die for what he does. That's why his retirement plan is a bottle of Jack and a .45 ACP.
Heavy on the racist punisher caricature which is in itself funny because Punisher hates racists and cops who idolize him.
There's a reason many cops and their ilk are always putting Punisher stickers and decals on their cars.
If there was an IRL Batman he'd be arrested in seconds. Multiple people have tried "superheroing" for real, most notably in Seattle. At best, it was a bunch of dorks in costume running around breaking up drunken brawls. At worst, masked vigilante Phoenix Jones became a criminal himself. Because crime is a business, while vigilantism isn't. You'd really need billionaire money.
@@jospinner1183... and its canon, part of the character, that the Punisher himself is outright against them. Punisher would not take those actions.

Richard B, I've got a better movie idea: Texas succeeds from the Union (I'd be happy to see them go), and millions of sane Texans flee the state in a death-march reminiscent of the partitioning of Pakistan from India. The Federal government builds a wall along the entire northern border of Texas; Austin decides it doesn't want to remain part of Texas and so it completely walls itself off from the rest of the state, and the Federal government runs the blockade with airplane flights in-and-out of Austin several times a week. Just like East Berlin and West Berlin being walled off from the rest of Germany when the Russians took control. If memory serves, there was a Supreme Court decision regarding restrictive covenants (essentially provisions in real estate agreements saying “parties promise not to sell or rent to non-whites”) where a similar argument was made that this was something put in place by private parties rather than “state action” where the 14th amendment would apply. The Supreme Court struck down these restrictions essentially saying it became a state action once a judge upheld these covenants in court.
I have been wondering whether or not courts' involvement (as government/state officials) would counteract the concept of the Texas law.
That was a SCOTUS that probably had the interest of the People in mind.
The current one has only the interests of x-tian zealots and corporations in mind.
Yeah, Shelley v. Kraemer. But courts have not been eager to extend the reasoning of the Court in Shelley to any other situations.
There was another one involving liquor licenses being delegated to local churches for final approval. The Supreme Court struck it down by saying that the government could not delegate to private entities that which traditionally belongs to the government to decide.
(I’m stating it poorly, but I’ll find the article and link it.)

Exactly.
How does HIPAA not apply to the women's healthcare in these cases?
That is what I was wondering, an abortion provider would have to disclose a woman’ s medical records without her consent to prove she actually had the abortion. Not legal.
How does the fourth amendment not apply to the woman's body too?
I think cause the Dr made a spectacle of it in order to prove a point. I would guess he got his patient's permission.
@@JacksonHoulihan the fourth amendment is about illegal search and seizure..... Doesn't apply here, the drs aren't supposed to be taking anything out, legally speaking.
I mean it would
But I think that would just mean that the doctors can't talk about the cases in court
If someone manages to find out who the doctor is helping you get an abortion, they can still file suit, the doctor just wouldn't be able to tell about it in court.
I think...
You are allowed to take a person off life support if there is no brain activity irregardless of cardiac activity.
Abortion should not be evaluated on a life function that is less than that of a legal DNR status. The fetal brain stem is not mature until the end of the second trimester.
Lack of enough brain function to maintain life makes removing life support legal. Shouldn’t the same criteria be used for abortion in the first trimester?

Maybe we need to start suing anyone breaking any law in the courts to overwhelm the system and to force the issue of whether it’s legal or not to rely on vigilantes to enforce the laws.
Feel like this guy doesn't get the point of Batman
Wonder if that, and his misunderstanding of woman, go together....
Like, can you be that oblivious to realities that you can't even see the fictional one's correctly?
Someone get Desi and this team an Emmy. Thanks Daily Show!
The lack of self awareness
That actually put a smile on my face. Hope everything goes will.
Spoilers alert:
It won't
For all Non-Texans: We don't really claim East Texas. In fact, most call it "West Louisiana."
I call it "Inbredistan"
😂🤣
What happens if women start moving out of Texas in greater numbers than those that stay or move in? That is going to be interesting 😳.
Texas Law Maker, _Jake Fapper_ won't be too fazed by that...
He never could figure out what the hype was about having a relationship with another human being...
Let alone a female...
They are free to move to Norway if they want to. Then they will experience what the free world looks like.
If they found a way to word a law that bypasses the constitution can other states do the same to ban guns? Then all those Christian gun owners that support the abortion law can thank themselves for giving others the idea to bypass the constitution with new gun laws? I mean I'm not a lawyer or even remotely qualified for any say in this but, Seems that doesn't really matter at this point.
The fear of some can't trump the rights of All
well, clearly, being unqualified makes you the best person to come up with this... as per texas apparently
They won't blame Texas and the Republicans they will blame Democrats as usual
I'm pretty sure that if Batman existed in real life, SOME people might have some problems with his whole operation.
Especially his tight outfit. Oh don't forget about the Mask freedom thing.
In real life there’d be lots of civilians caught up in his collateral damage and there’d be questions about the guilt and innocence of who he’s going after.
Well he is a billionaire that does every thing he wants with no regards to laws, no commitments to anybody, collect data and spy on people. Has his own personal space program. Tortures people. And apparently have problems with contraceptions.
So I guess he would be accepted nay heralded by right wingers.
Y'know, there are many perfectly nice adult virgins in the world. I hope nobody thinks that Mark Dickson is representative of most of them. There's enough of a social stigma attached to virginity without a guy like that adding to the negative impression.
Personally, I don't quite get why it's a source of shame. And I'd say that Dickson has plenty more relevant things to be ashamed of. Frankly, I'm not sure why he brought it up. I guess he feels like it gives him some kind of high ground. It certainly doesn't help his case as much as he apparently thought it would.
I doubt he brought it up out of the blue. He was probably asked whether he’s ever gotten someone pregnant.
@@jadranlee5440 In that case, seems like he coulda just said "no".
@@JoeEnglandShow True, but Desi Lydic is too crafty of an interviewer to leave it at that. Like Borat, she wants these guys to sound foolish, so I'm guessing she would ask - "Really? How can you be 100% SURE that you NEVER EVER got a girl pregnant? Maybe she didn't tell you because she got an abortion?".
But I agree with your more general point that our culture needlessly shames adult virgins, many of whom are probably perfectly nice people.
Haha the, "Oscar Stilley," guy, whatever his, "legal issues," actually did something pretty brilliant. 👍
And I think she's somewhat inaccurate about what he's trying to do. He's saying that crafting a law like SB8 to evade judicial scrutiny can really hurt other constitutional protections; she's making him seem like a freedom freak.
@@s.howard9404 one of the amicus briefs submitted was about how this same model could even be used to invalidate the 2nd amendment.
@@MC-pt8kv While the outcome would be overall beneficial, it certainly is illegal. Allowing a method of circumvention of judicial review to stand would be dangerous.
i was livid with Oscar till i heard him speak. now he is my hero.
Same!
The hero we needed before we even realized it...

GQP moving us closer and closer to fascism.
Yee haw.
It's really f@cked up that a small group of misogynistic, hypocritical, old white men are in charge of making laws against women, but you know when they get their mistresses, interns and secretaries pregnant they'll have no problem getting an abortion right up until the day of delivery.
@@k.j.paasche6523 Abortion in and around the due date, is called a c-section, so im not sure why anyone would have a problem with it.
Is this guy real? This isn't parody? Reality has officially jumped the shark.
why is it so difficult to let a woman choose whether or not she can handle being pregnant, childbirth, raising a child? Not to mention if guys could get pregnant this wouldn’t be up for discussion.
He should be concerned about state lawmakers that are cutting benefits that help mothers and their children (maternity leave, affordable daycare, head start programs, access to nutrition, housing) that’s being pro-life, not just pro-birth. You don’t want those “girls” suffering once they get here do you?
Only 2% of Americans actually adopt, thousands of children languish in foster care. In America 50% of the homeless population and 80% of prison inmates can be traced back to the foster care system.
Of the over 400,000 children in foster care in the U.S., 114,556 cannot be returned to their families and are waiting to be adopted. Among these children, males outnumber females, African American children are disproportionately represented, and over half are 6 years old or older. once they grow too old for the child welfare system?
The sad truth is that many grown-up foster children end up homeless and on the streets
Some women are unable to carry a fetus full term. Looks like the law will come after these unlucky women.😥
That actually happened fairly often BEFORE Roe v Wade
Batman is also not real and the people and police in Gotham go from loving him to hating him every five minutes.
@3:37 🤣😅😂 "It's all coming together now."
Completely embarrassing. Disgraceful. Shameful.
Dems better start passing laws like this against guns!
But this is also a kind of voter intimidation. It paves the path to voter intimidation. That is the one question ACB refused to answer about I found most disturbing.
Well to bring this sort of civil matter into court, as a plaintiff, you have to show you have basis for your claim of being harmed or damaged. A vigilante lacks any basis for their bringing suit. Case closed.
lets hope this works. the whole concept of this law is absurd
For this law actually there’s a certain section that states the bill doesn’t set a requirement of injury so I’m assuming it doesn’t have to directly or indirectly harm you. You can sue if you find that a provider aided in an abortion
@@yitzhaktolentino4214 So what exactly forms the basis of standing in court to bring suit - a faulty Texas law that provides meritless grounds to file suit because it claims anyone can just do so?
@@lawrencesawicki2292 yeah literally that’s the point of the law, it deputizes citizens of the United States to bring suit to the abortion provider. As the video states, a lawyer from Arkansas who doesn’t live in Texas and isn’t effected by the abortion provider can bring suit.
"Bro, you sure you want to wear a backwards baseball cap to your network interview?"

Mark Lee Dickson's SMIRK as he discusses his genius plan to harm women is so Chad.
The first guy looks like someone who is taking revenge on all women because he got badly rejected by a girl once
So did anybody notice that Desi made a Dark Knight reference at the end?
Never underestimate the power of a disgraced tax fraudster on home confinement with literally NOTHING ELSE TO DO!,🤣🤣
A man shouldn't be allowed to sign or decide on such matters in the first place. They can have their opinion of course and that doesn't mean they have any right to enforce laws for it
Men, just as well as women have the equal responsibility to protect unborn lives.

By this logic , hiring a hitman in Texas should be legal.
Who knows what Abbott's next EO will be...
Nah! No need for a hitman. Just do it yourself and when you get arrested your defense can be: I’m Batman!
It is.
“What kind of mind came up with this?”
“Could it beeeeeee… Satan?”
If Batman were real, he would be arrested, and indeed, I'm pretty sure the law hasn't always been thrilled with Batman in cannon. That's what that idiot failed to realize.
it's funny... MOST states require Bounty hunters to be licensed... but I guess in this case... - sad
Is this real? Because it sounds so ridiculous it's hard to believe this is actually how this person thinks.

Messing with the Supreme Court stages is detrimental for the nation 🚽

We should all pick a doctor in TX to sue? I don't know if the preformed an Abortion but I heard they did?
I have wondered about this too. What if prochoice activists just inundate the Texas courts. Imagine just how many lawsuits there could be around one terminated pregnancy. Can the impregnator be sued? There cannot be an abortion if there is no pregnancy so doesn’t that mean impregnators facilitate abortions?
@@rtd1791 I like the way you think. 😁
I complain about Batman’s brand of justice at every Pawnee Town Hall meeting.

Personhood is properly defined by membership in the human species, not by stage of development within that species.
And? Nobody’s personhood grants them a right to my body. Period.
That can’t be legal- because some interns/nurses/doctors have to stay at particular hospital and have to work there- under contractual obligations- so for a “random” law to just be introduced into already existing contracts- like uh no- doctors/aka anyone helping - should be grandfathered and pardoned since they were “under oath” previous to the messed up law.
Tell me you never watched Batman without telling me you never watched Batman
