Haha okay I’m embarrassed to admit this but I totally got into Qanon (normal independent moderate here) for a few months end of 2018 the IP address posting on 4chan switched up and crazier and crazier things were getting posted. This JFK Jr story is what got me to actually block anything Qanon related. I’ve been Q free for 4 years 🤣

Exactly, these people are so far gone. And they vote for others who think like them. They believe in fairy tales. Ghost are real, dead people are alive and oh, lizard cabal people run our Government. They believe people are clones or holograms, they don't know the difference between what's real and what's science fiction. And that's a danger to society when you can't trust your own eyes and think everything is a conspiracy and everyone is out to get you. It's a whole new level of paranoia.

I remember going down south and out west in the early 70's and I noticed that most people that didn't know that much didn't speak much especially on topics they were not well informed about. They were a bit embarrassed when they talked out of a bit of fear of saying something that might be considered dumb. I liked speaking with them because they were honest in their talks but knew when they weren't sure about some matters. Today with all this social media nonsense everyone feels they got to open their mouth no matter what comes out of it.
The GOP has told these people it's better to be uneducated and liberalism is the same as Communism! Fact is a Democracy requires intelligence and a social safety net!

My best friend’s mom went to Dallas (she lives in Texas) because she believe JFK Jr was going to appear there earlier this year. The scariest part is that I’ve spoken with her before, and outside of politics she seems very normal and friendly. But it’s as though a switch flips whenever something political comes up. It’s sad how much it’s damaged her relationship with my BFF.

I had a friend who was a very social person, until it was about money, that he seemed almost reptilian (not in conspiracy way, but so primitive and anxious in his attitude. ;) ). It's entertaining but Jordan is educating us into the other half of the world and how they live. I was a substance abuse counselor for a long time and I was used to hearing this people speak and understood that either they used drugs to be able to cope with their mental problem and yet some had mental problems due to their addiction to drugs early in life !And when I hear this people speaking to Jordan it reminds me a lot of my experiences with my clients! Some older people speak like children or teenagers all giggly and having fun ,! Talking about their imagined theories! They hi- five each other and hit each other on the back! It's almost sad! Then they have their "preacher" telling them what to belief and they do it with all heart! Pathetic if it's not sad!

I remember the James Dean myth, the "Paul is dead" myth, and all the Elvis sightings after his death. The only difference is the amplification social media gives. Back then we only had the National Enquirer, now we have FOX News and Facebook.

I just don't know what to think about Elvis. I remember years ago at the supermarket checkout, competing scandal rags in the magazine racks. One said "PROOF THAT ELVIS IS ALIVE!", and the other said "PROOF THAT ELVIS IS DEAD!" I'm just so confoozed. ;-) I used to buy the annual National Enquirer predictions issue just to see the outlandish predictions. Say, does anyone know if Johnny Carson ever moved "The Tonight Show" out to the Queen Mary in Los Angeles Harbor?
I've found when arguing with people on Facebook, it doesn't matter if you show proof.
Once people decide what they want to think, nothing changes that.

Oh trust me, I have had arguments with people on Facebook, as well as co-workers and friends, once they are convinced that a conspiracy theory is true it doesn't matter how much evidence and proof to the contrary you present them, they just don't want to hear it, a part of why is human nature, no one wants to admit the embarrassing fact that they were duped.

That's what I've seen as well. No matter the evidence, they believe in the non-evidence, that has it been promised and never produced. The lack of proof on their side seems to be held in much higher regard than legitimate proof. Like the phone call to Raffenspurger, the forged elector certificates, the plan to have Pence reject ballots, the stolen documents, the real findings in the Mueller report, the testimony of only republiCONS in the Jan 6 hearings, etc.
I never really thought that mental illness could be contagious... but clearly it can be. Very scary and sad...

Let me explain. 34% of U.S. can't read above a 6/7th grade level. Another 12% can't read at all. Their understanding of complexity and nuance are out of reach of their abilities, leaving them more vulnerable to manipulation. This is why education is so very important and we have failed as a nation to properly educate

I was in Dallas when JFK was shot. My home town (Dallas) just shut down. I was just a 15 year old girl and felt so ashamed to be from Dallas. People were so very sad. JFK was very loved and Dallas was so thrilled to have him come visit. When his son was declared dead, it was like the wound had opened back up.
I remember Stephen King dissing the Dallas police over and over in Tommyknockers. Not cool. You shouldn’t feel/have felt ashamed. There’s always a scapegoat.

The saddest part about all of this (as funny and as entertaining as these theories may be) is the fact that none of them seem to think about how painful and disrespectful this is to the families of the deceased. They have already grieved the loss of their loved one. Then decades later, to have a group of people falsely claiming they’re still alive is like ripping the scab off an old wound. SO disrespectful.
He also wasn’t alone in the plane crash, his wife and her sister were with him and also died

A lot of people don't understand why people believe conspiracies, but Jordan touched on something very simple that explains it. Believing in these things is much more fun than reality, and it makes people feel important. They believe they know something that a lot of other people don't. Their thought process is "you are are being fooled, but not me."
We need to make people self-aware of this fact, so that they may better understand how they can be tricked into believing such ridiculous things... though it's certainly hard to help people be more self-aware if they don't want to be.

I know that’s what they feel but I think he’s being overly empathetic. At they end of the day, they’re able to feel that way by believing these things, because they aren’t very bright.
You’ve described them so perfectly. Note how similar their attitudes are to the super religious folks. The same unshakeable faith in things normal people find jarring and really discordant.
My own controversial opinion is that people who grew up in a Christian faith community are conditioned to accept facts without real evidence. Please don't come for me. I grew up southern Baptist.
It's trickier than that - a lot of the willingness to believe in them comes more from a place of fear and paranoia.
As much as I want to laugh hysterically at these people, I hold back. It is actually very sad and at the same time extremely dangerous.

I think it’s great that people of faith are making these statements because so many QAnoners and Trump supporters are also people of faith. At the beginning of the pandemic, I lost a dear friend to some of these conspiracy theories, the turning point was when she said, 'I wish I could sit everyone down and show them exactly what is happening, so they stop being sheep.' It was so sad, but at that moment, I knew she had stepped over the edge and I couldn't be present to it...
Yeah, that's the thing she doesn't get: We are all sheep. It's just that some are choosing to follow the wrong Shepherd. It is John 10:1-21 in real time.

When these guys say the word 'lost someone', I literally know a pastor in Texas who went down so far into the rabbit hole and committed suicide. It’s not being a genius. Every adult should be able to listen to someone, think about what they’re saying, and drive a truck through any huge gaps in logic. Klepper isn’t really saying much - he’s allowing the speakers to expose the inconsistency in their arguments all by themselves.

as a Christian, it REALLY disturbs me to see these people pervert the gospel/Bible. And I do think that the media needs to cover it and EXPOSE it for what it is. That's the only way to shine a light on it. I know so many people that haven't even heard about it, or if they have, they think it's harmless. Lies are never harmless, IMO.

I cried every time I tried to teach JFK to my students since I was a sixth grader when he died. My teacher answered the phone and completely broke down, and I felt that deep in my heart. When I was in Japan in 1999 with my students, my host’s daughter told me John Kennedy has died. I told her he died long ago. She said,”no, John John!”

I think what drives people to conspiracy theories is more than just an innate pre-disposition to make up stories. There is an element of feeling disenfranchised and dislocation that joining with others to become the special arbiters of the “truth” suddenly gives them meaning and makes them feel special. Social media props them up as a community, gives voice to the virtual cult. It is their response to coping with the first noble truth of Buddhism, that to be alive is to suffer. The conspiracy / cult is their way out.
TRUMPISM, F-scism, Trump, Qanon, but also Biden and the Dem's and how they allow it all was covered with Great Humor by 'Some More News'. No stretch to clal it 'Part 2' to this Video here.

I think that the reason why the majority of QAnon believers are also fundamentalist religious people is because most of them are brought up to believe that accepting information based on “faith”, is more reliable than using science and reason.
It seems to me, that critical analysis to them is almost frowned upon.

I love that people are talking to these people that claim the economy is killing them, but they are spending all their money on the "crazy", but when you see them in these videos, you can see it, but the people can't see themselves, that is where our mental health has gone in this country. Racism and fear of others that they don't understand has cracked the mental health gap to cause people to go over the edge
