    Hello Rachel ! I am very glad that despite your depression you gathered courage and you decided to continue with youtube and it is important not to pressure youself and make the necessary breaks and choices for your mental health and wellbeing. from the videos of yours that i have seen, i can say that you are one of the most likable persons i have seen in and outside internet. Your videos also motivated me to start learning mysic and open myself especially when it comes to music. Οn the occasion of the Ukrainian song you reviewed i would recommend you if you feel like it and have time to also listen to the ukrainian vidbir song of Krut Kolyskova. Also sorry for my bad english...Love from Greece!

    And so we begin again 🥳
    We're off to a pretty strong start. I think the song has a powerful visual identity, I remember the staging just as much as the soundtrack. The track's inspired by the siege of the Azovstol steelworks factory which saw fierce resistance from the workers but nonetheless had to surrender. However that's the idea behind "heart of steel", as they kept pushing until it was no longer possible to sustain. I do agree that musically speaking, it needs something a little bit more (vocal gymnastics is a good idea, I also think the drop could be just that little bit more (punches hand), if you see what I mean). But it's a great entry nonetheless, left-hand side/top 15 at the very least.
    Nice to have you back with us! Stay strong, and see ya again whenever.

    When I first listened to this I got Kwabs vibes, especially in his collaboration with Disclosure on the song “Willing & Able”. Nonetheless I really think that a revamp is due, while the staging looks pretty interesting.

    So glad you’re back! I really like this song, especially the first 30 seconds with that staging - the rest is good but intrigued to see the revamp. Also with MESC not sure it worth the pain of listening to all 40 songs 😂 there are a couple okay ones but it feels like a lot of work! The rest of the national finals free pretty strong so worth a listen :)

    First of all, I just want to say a massive well done to you for battling your mental health and continuing to upload after a period of time off. It takes a lot of willpower to overcome it, and a lot of heart to talk about it online like you have. We are all with you ❤
    As for the song, if this does well for the Ukraine at the final, then it will be 100% merited because this is a strong entry in my opinion. The beat is very intriguing, the vocals are great & from what I can see from the live performance they’ve put out, it seems like the staging is going to be good as well which is always important.

    Hi Rachel! I don't know if I want to get so drawn in to the Eurovision world this year, because it'll help me with procrastrinating my studies, but coincedentally after watching your last video I just want to share that I'm also going through a depression currently and your videos make me feel the love for music more. Btw 30/40 songs in MESC are either boring or bad, the rest are just "ok enough to send" Thanks for brightening up my day 😌

    • @ThePeaceAround
      @ThePeaceAround  Год назад +1

      Honestly that’s so great to hear! That really warms my heart ♥️ I hope you can feel better soon.
      For MESC, I think I’ll just react to short snippets to save time. Though, if 75% of the songs are shite, it’s probably going to be a struggle 😂

    Great to see you back here, Rach. (as they say here in Holland "Sterkte¨)
    Incredible to think that they created a song contest in a subway bunker during wartime. This song is dramatic and jarring in a way. Maybe that is the point, though. It will get votes whatever, but it deserves some for doing something different and unexpected.

  • @northcub

    I'm so excited to keep up with these reactions this year!
    For me this song is quite underwhelming; I agree that the chorus lacks proper impact. I also find that the two chord instrumental that plays throughout gets quite repetitive and the song doesn't develop enough.
    BUT I think they've said the song is getting a revamp. Lots of people criticised the chorus and I believe some of the jurors were giving them feedback on how to improve it. So hopefully they'll be able to find what it's missing.

    So sorry to hear about your mental health issues(. That is sooo sad. Your reactions would probably consume too much energy. On the other hand, they can have the 'self-healing/self-motivating' abilities, 'cause when you share your emotions you should feel happy, like when you do something really important. And you are really good at it! I've seen a lot of reactions. but yours are the best, since they are not just about mimicry)). You dig deep, find adequate words, which are always objective and uncompromising💯. Thank you for your work! Take care!

    The best part about it for me was the organ playing more in the first half. The second half, like you said, sounded lacking. If the backing track matched the lyrics more, it would have been great. With all that's going on, kudos to them for still coming up with a song like this. 7.5/10

  • @cultfiction3865
    @cultfiction3865 Год назад +3

    Thanks for your reaction to this song Rachel.
    To me it seems like the chorus is weak and let’s the rest of the song down.
    And I’m all or nothing. If a song doesn’t give me a chorus, it doesn’t give me anything.
    The chorus needs a revamp.
    I’d set my heart on Jerry Heil winning Vidbir.
    But Tvorchii won the Ukraine televote so it was at least a democratic decision, unlike Belgium but that is for another conversation.

  • @inesvbm1
    @inesvbm1 Год назад

    Am I the only one hearing the organ? I usually hate the instrument but in this case I really think it worked somehow. Maybe gave a bit of darkness which is somewhat aligned with the lyrics

      Question - how much can you change your song once it’s won its selection process? Is there a cut-off point?

    • @northcub
      @northcub Год назад

      @@neilonaniet the submission deadline is in the end of March I think, so they have until then. I think they can edit the song whenever they want, but that version won't be the version that gets published on the eurovision channel and used in the promotions. For something like this (changing the main components of the song) they'd want to do it before the deadline.
      Sometimes they change or add bits of songs very close to actual Eurovision though, like Sam Ryder's guitar solo last year.

    This song was not my favourite from the show, that's for sure. I was certain Jerry Heil would easily win.
    For a laugh, two days ago I looked on the website that shows the Eurovision betting odds, and with three songs released they've got Ukraine as the winners, ahead of Sweden, Italy, and the UK (sound familiar?). I'm not sure how they arbitrarily decided that at this stage, considering that the UK hasn't said anything at all about our entry this year LOL
    I can't see this song winning as it stands, and certainly not by as much as last year, if they do manage to carry some public goodwill over from 2022.

  • @laciee
    @laciee Год назад +1

    Wow. It was actually good! 13289 times better than last year. They would never have won last year if they didn't get 99% sympathy votes because last year's song was completely awful.

  • @durabelle

    I like the sound of this song, but it's not memorable enough for me. Hopefully they'll add whatever is missing before ESC!

    Once again I don't like Ukraine's entry. I really didn't like last year's winning song - not my type of song but also I really didn't like the way that the woman who won their contest was dumped for reasons I really do not agree with, she ought to have been allowed to compete with her song. I give this a 5. tbh this is probably a matter of my just not liking this particular type of song very much.
    So far (of the videos I have watched) there haven't been any songs that Rachel hasn't liked! (;
