I bought a late 60s Jacobsen Chief 1200 on my birthday eve a few days ago (a Ford 100 clone) sight unseen and found it had a weak starter generator, which I have it apart here on my computer desk. It's in great condition, brushes have 30% life left, I am going to clean it up, reassemble, change the gas, clean the carb, and say a prayer of thanksgiving and turn the key with expectation. Then put a rebuild kit in it later if the engine runs. - robb in South Dakota

I remember when it was a daily thing to repair a generator on a vehicle or farm tractor Dad would turn them and use growlers to test it We still have lots of parts left to rebuild and all the equipment plus it works great

Shade tree repairs. Not a rebuild in any form and should only be done for a "quickie" patch.
