Congratulations on your "new to you" saw. I can tell you're quite excited about it. I just picked up a Husqvarna 272XP and plan to rebuild it later this year. Can't wait. It'll be fun to see the 405 in action.
See who remember this vehicle.
My dad had a 1959 Chevy Nomad station wagon two tone. He called it cowsh?t green and catsh?t yellow. The Poulan Pro has a similar yellow!
Great looking saw!
Just in the case you ever needed to they can be welded. I have a P-51 that someone before me repaired and seemed to have nice bead on both sides of the repair.
I believe thats chicken s@#t yellow, according to my mother inlaw. Thanks for sharing it with us. Almost like watching a movie.
The P39 doesn’t have the cut-out on the left half of the crankcase to allow air to go up into the boost port. Without it, the opening to the boost port on the base of the cylinder is blocked.
That's right. I didn't get a good look at the piston, but it has to be the "windowed" type to work with that cylinder as well.
I appreciate this...that machining difference on the left side of the crankcase was something I missed!
Those Walbro WJ carburetors are notoriously difficult to tune. The high and low circuit are in tandem. You just about have to have it in the cut while someone tunes the carb.
