This boy isn't "special needs". He may have a behavorial disorder, but was doing well in school (calculus etc.). Hardly special needs. Children aren't commodities. They didn't have to adopt any children in the first place. Bad parenting and wrong decisions are just excuses. They are educated people, with financial means for the much needed therapy.

      Very good question ❤
From Germany. I was locked in our attic with a bucket every evening for 6 years. However, without air conditioning or heating and zero drinking. Reason: My drunk father sexually molested me when I was 9 years old. I suspect my stepmother wanted to avoid a repeat. I didn't know love at all, but I experienced verbal insults almost every day. I left home/prison at 14 and was treated like a real human being in the children's home (as we name it). I'm now 68 and I'm still treated like the guilty party by my siblings. 😥 I refused to report my parents, even though the authorities urged me to. It may sound crazy, but I loved my parents and wanted to protect them and at the same time stop being treated like a doormat.
The pain my childhood never left me. 😢 But I became a loving Mom of 4 😊

I guess the defense thinks it is the only way to give the parents a chance of being found not guilty. Stranger things have happened, look at the jury finding Kasey Anthony innocent of murdering her daughter. Maybe she had gotten sick of her daughter getting so much attention, and she wanted complete freedom to party. I will never understand how anyone could testify for the dad knowing he did these things.

I want him locked up and I’ll send him a letter starting with “Hey you big jerk/tough guy” truly disgusting excuses of parents to so clearly and openly be a safe space and attentive to some kids but not all. The pain I feel for RF at him having to know and see how well treated and loved his siblings are while he’s locked in a room where turning the AC on on a hot day gets him reprimanded. I hope nothing but healing for RF. I hope he has his own family when he’s older and the love and care is a healing experience for him.
