Tips: - Toucan extension on Google Chrome - Quizlet (Spaced Repetition System) - Books, videos, series on the focus language (write the unknown words in a notebook and make flashcards) - Keep a vocabulary notebook - Say the words mentally
In my second year of university I shared a house with a couple of other language students and we made little signs for words for items all around the house in all the different languages we were studying which we put literally everywhere and it was pretty effective! I feel like if you're formally studying the language at school/university you don't learn the everyday stuff as much 😅
I'm just seeking a person to talk in English to build up my English knowledge. If anyone likes (at least a few minutes through online like Zoom, MS Teams), Pls let me know. Thanks.
Ciao! I found a youtuber called "Learn with Lucrezia" which is an italian teacher on youtube. She speaks not too fast not too slow. She doesnt use english only italian. I watch it a lot, she has grammar, random italian stuff and vlogs
I’m glad to hear you say there’s no quick, fast hack to learning a new language. There are so many people out there trying to sell promises of language speaking fluency within months and it’s just not realistic and people end up wasting time and money where their efforts could be better spent studying on their own.
I totally agree with you, it's insane! I'm an Italian native speaker and I've been studying Languages (English and Spanish, trying to start with German and French) for years at University, and it always lets me down to read things such as "I've learned Italian in a week" or "You don't need to study that much a language". Everyone has to take his own time to analyse it in depth, a week is nothing compared to the years a person needs to practise and become fluent.
Ciao! I'm Italian and I stumbled upon your video because I wanted to improve the way I study English vocabulary at University (I started following you and I'll watch all your videos, btw). This video is really useful and suits my needs; moreover, you said the most important thing: a foreign language can't be studied in a week or a month, but many people don't understand the importance of practice and underrate it. I'm studying Languages at University, and practice is the only thing that really improves my skills: yes, TV series are pretty useful, but you can't study in depth just by watching them, you need grammar rules, vocabulary and practice, and you perfectly expressed this concept. Congratulations for your channel, and "in bocca al lupo con l'italiano"!
Thank you for your video :) I only want to point something about Toucan. Although I think it's a great extension with a very good concept (and I am using it for French), it still slightly bothers me how the languages aren't specified: UK English or American English, Portuguese from Brasil or European Portuguese. And why is that the Spanish taught on Toucan is actually from the country of origin (Spain) while English or Portuguese are from America and Brasil? This is me just being a bit of a purist, but I am Portuguese and I have so many people coming to me saying "I know how to speak portuguese" and "do you want to hear this portuguese song?" when it's actually brasilian. What bothers me is that they don't know how different the languages actually are.
9:45 speak it out loud, you'll have more brain activity used for the learning process as your brain has to control the muscles in your face to pronounce your sentences thus your brain will memorize that as well. Nobody, who's not dumb, will think you're a psycho, everybody will understand that it's just language practice.
The system I use to learn a bunch of vocabularies fast is: first I collect/archive so many words then I look up their meanings, after that I straight out a pragraph, most importantly the paragraph must be in a story form, so it helps me to remember the words better...... To top it all off, it's really an effective method, at least give it a go and thank me later....😉😅 Edit: I've been using this method for 2 months, and I can tell you that my vocabulary has skyrocated in a large scale.......
Great video :) I talk to my sheep about what I have done in the day, or what I am going to do later on. If I can't remember a word or dont know a word and if it is important and I will need it again , I will write it down and write a sentence with the word. I use Anki and put all the words I learn into different sets. Another way I learn vocab is I have changed the language of my phone and computer. This way I learn technology terms that are rather prominent in today's world. And same, I watch Postman Pat (il postino pat) and Daniel Tiger (originally in Portuguese but have been dubbed into Italian) and Masha & Bear (Masha e Orso). Love your videos. xx
Hi Shea! Sto imparando il tedesco e i tuoi consigli sono davvero super utili! In più studio grafica per cui adoro anche tutti gli altri video che non parlano di lingue:) Sono davvero felice di aver trovato il tuo canale.
Really well done video! I didn't know about toucan, I added and it seems very helpful. Personally I find useful learning new words through association, starting as much as possible from the ones I can find easely connected with words I already know (no matter if semantically, in the writing/in sound/... ). I prefer not to expand the vocabulary randomly, but using what I already know as a starting point. I also try to find immediately a completely different phrase in which the new word fits. knowing more then one option to use the same word makes learning process very logical to me, and consequently every term easier to remeber.
Hi Shea, enjoyed this video.. I am always practicing sentences in my head, I feel that it really connects me to the language that I am learning and I often check afterwards on my translation app on my phone to see how well I have done..
Thank you ever so much for sharing your knowledge and your advice, that's mighty kind of you, and I appreciated that so much, so thanks again and greetings from Colombia. I'm going to follow you.
Thank you for the tips, Shea! Just wanted to add that you can create a Netflix profile and set the language to Italian just for that particular profile. All shows and movies will be in Italian 😜
Thank you so much for the film recommendations! I’m learning Italian as well and I couldn’t find any good shows except for baby😂 btw you are a really big inspiration to me😊
I don't suggest to watch italian series (i'm italian) , there are no so good and above all you'll find often local dialects impossible and useless to understand. You can watch common american series dubbed in italian.
I'm an Italian native speaker, and I agree with the account that states their mediocrity; I must admit I've watched the entire TV series "Don Matteo", but I think that's the only one I could save because it's funnier than the others, and the language they use is very simple. I might tell you to try to read Italian books (reading and comprehension could be tricky while studying a foreign language) written by authors such as Ilaria Tuti, if you like thrillers or detective stories, or Licia Troisi, if you prefer fantasy books!
Do Toucan have English laguage as well? I been learning english until now but I feel like I have something missing like my grammar and I'm out of words when Im speaking out about my thoughts.
Love your language learning videos! Have you tried using Anki instead of Quizlet? I made the switch a couple months ago and it's been a game changer! Anki is a free flashcard program just like Quizlet, but it schedules the cards based on spaced repetition principles making it much more efficient. If you haven't looked into it, you should check it out, it's helped me so much!
Thanks Ma'am. Such an impressive way to explain. I want to compliment that you have such a mesmerizing look.. Ma sha Allah you are so adorable. Love from Pakistan 😊😇

Ciao! Thanks for watching another video! What are your favorite methods of learning new vocabulary? Share them below! 💛
Yeah it’s a premiere, meaning it will start in a few minutes and then will be available to watch anytime on my channel after that.
Either writing those new vocabulary or making a video out of it ... then repetition ...
