Just became a ride op for Legoland this Saturday, I have to admit the operations are pretty slow. There are also so many trainees at the moment which doesn't help, but the main problem is there is no incentive for the ride ops to work faster, and so they don't. Its unlike Thorpe or other parks where you get pushed to reduce queue times as much as possible. (I promise I go as fast as possible😅)

Ha ha. I’m sure the audience doesn’t help. Getting kids to do what their told can’t be easy 😉

@@coaster_dad only a few days in and I've already had kids try climb out of restraints. The parents don't help either to be honest, a lot of the time they can't be quite rude when you tell their kid what to do

Im really glad someone else has pointed out the slow operations. I normally go to alton towers and the difference in dispatch times is crazy. The dragon and speedway were pretty quick to dispatch but the duplo dino coaster was just embarrassing 20 mins in the reserve and ride queue 😅

If my memory serves me correct I went to Legoland last year in summer 2023, definitely well before Minifigure speedway opened. It was during school holidays and the park was rammed and full of young kids. But that's to be expected, both the busyness and demographic. It was a pretty good experience, fun rides, but decently long queues especially in the afternoon. I want to go again this year, not only for Speedway but also the main Dragon ride which is my favourite in the park (and probably of all time because I haven't been to many other parks). But I definitely won't be going during school holidays, which is probably a good rule for any parks if you want to make the most of your time. So September or October (but trying to miss Brick or Treat) it is. It's off peak and not too hot or cold for outside. I think long queues + hot weather can quickly sour the mood of a trip. Although rainy weather could be worse.
This was a great video and useful info on what to expect for a relatively quiet day, plus I didn't even know Speedway opened!

Glad you enjoyed. It is a lovely park but as you say little things can sour a trip easily. Hope you get another visit and have a blast 😀

I worked in rides and attractions at LEGOLAND Windsor for 2 miserable months in 2020. As someone who knew about theme parks and had a rough idea about operations and throughputs I was horrified to learn there were no real incentives or encouragement given to staff to move people through the queues effectively. Everyone just kind of existed in a zombified state, usually talking to their friends quite unprofessionally when they should have been diligently working. There is very little love or understanding for this as a concept and it STILL seems as though people are thrust into the role who are probably not suitably equipped to deal with (what should be) such a fast-paced environment effectively. I hope someone from the park sees this video and considers that many real paying customers are having experiences like this. With a potential world-class American theme park coming in the future I'd be a bit less complacent as to the value of their brand...

Chris your videos are great. I really enjoyed the history of Thorpe and Towers videos. Me and you are very similar, same views and opinions 😂. I actually wanted your name when I set up, that’s how I found you 😂.

We’ve been 4/5 times and previously have hated this place, my 5 year old who loves theme parks even asked if we could go home after half an hour of being inside the park. Even when it’s quiet it’s not possible to do the things you want. However we went last Friday and managed quite a few rides but we would never go during school holidays!

Hi chris, my definition of closed for technical issue is ride operators are late for work or phoned in sick and typical merlin only have exact staff and no one on subs bench. Did you get out of car park ok, what do they charge for that privilege as well now?. So bad last time we went we parked again in a different spot and went back to a takeaway pizza place they had near the entrance and 80mins later we could then drive out. Never again we said, and we haven't.

Yeah I got out ok this time and I have an annual pass now so parking was free. But I think it’s about a tenner?
