I love dehancer but it’s not free. I’m trying to make a powergrade on Resolve that emulates the look of film (aspect ratio, color look, gate weave, subtle scratches, halation, grain, and occasional frame jump) Would love to see someone make a free alternative to dehancer.
I knew that that short lighthouse video with question " is it film or digital", was a digital shot through vintage lens with postprocessing filters, and tweaks...
How do you feel about cheap lenses from brands like 7Artisans and Meike as a way to get “character”for a film-ish look? Are they just too modern to have the same effect?
7artisans, ttartisans, light lens labs, and even Leica e.g. seem to use older lens formulas to recreate the feel and subtle image optical alterations (e.g. bokeh) that no software will ever be able to recreate. They even offer versions of older optical formulas with and without modern coatings (e.g. with some Voigtlander reeditions).
If I want a vintage film look I shoot with a mini-DV camcorder - best of both worlds. Easy to get footage to a PC and work on. Much cheaper than Dehancer too!
I really love dehancer it's amazing unfortunately idk what's wrong with it but it doesn't really work on my pc or my laptop (probably due to my internet region)
@@Dehancer I let my 6 month subscription lapse because support wasn't helpful at all, and I never got it running. enjoy my $50 that I could've spent on food

I like this method to mimic the film look on the digital modern videos but honestly, it won't completely do it for you without changing the frame rate... Should be no more than 23.976 fps...
Yeah, you can make video look like analogue film, but anyone with some basic knowledge would be able to tell that look is just a digital simulation. True analogue formats are truly unique and cannot be fully replicated digitally. 🙄

for photos i like shooting with a combo of old digital sensors (D700, 5DI)+ vintage glass to re create some of the color shades found on certain films
Next up: the tutorial?
I think Jay Lippman said he is going to make a tutorial on dehancer
Ive done something similar with my fuji X-T2 and a minolta 35-70f4 macro.
Soft fully open but really hits a dreamy-filmy look.

way too modern, you need lenses that were not made by computers

Yes, i did that in a past video on a mini DV and anamorphic adapter :)
@@MathieuStern Thx, I'll go and have a look :)

Hi! Have you contacted our support team regarding the issue?

Wait, WHAT the hell was the music in the beginning!?! I got this wash of nostalgia as if I've heard it before at some point in the 90s?
I know I've heard it too, I just can't seem to find it!
Pixies where is my mind
Not yellow coating.. it’s decaying radioactive element in the glass. :)
Now for a challenge: Capture film photos so that they look like they were taken with a digital camera!
done: hi-matic 7s and fuji stock
Pretty much impossible, no?
It is, probably, not possible to achieve a sharp, clean "fake digital" version from an old analogue footage?
I stay true with Film, shoot more film, guys!
Hipster ?
Nope. Shooting 35mm Film since 1984.@@hypnoz7871

Amazing footage

looks so organic
any modern lense will look organic if they have good micro contrast.
Unfortunately the trend seems to discard it in favor of resolution.
Also, we should change the frame rates...☝️😌✌️❗
Do you have a list of vintage lenses we can get for Sony E mount?
I use just about everything for my a7. including my Leica summicron 50mm f2 DR and Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.4 HFT
You can get ANY vintage lenses for the E mount.
M42, leica M, and so on.
@@hypnoz7871 but do I need a converter of some sort?
I see a SAAB V4, I hit like … 😊
but we want cinemascope SoC 😅
wow, this is next level! Why didn't they do this for the movie DUNE instead of using actual filmstock?
Beware! Luddites liveth within! 🤪🤑😮💨
Buy a 100$ CCD camera. Problem solved.
hi, i find it a little bit too much. normaly i like your footage :) I feel sorry.
I understand, it was to show how much you can push the plugin, i am not going to use it every time, just for specific projects
@@MathieuStern I should not insult you. I love your creative content. but this was too much retro for me :)

Yes they can. Anything with deteministic properties can be reverse enginered.
Analog hipsters will always be funny.
Why? omg.............. digital photographers sucks................
how do you do when you are both a film and a digital photographer ? do I suck 50% ?
