You are right. It's really not bad to do. I personally like doing it this way because it gives me the opportunity to go in and inspect the drive and chain.
Awesome video. I'm about to do mine tomorrow but I thought someone mentioned to set the parking brake. Is that necessary? Not sure if I missed that in your video. Thanks
There is a gasket (o-ring style) on the chain case cover. I typically reuse mine each year. It doesn't hurt to have an extra on hand incase it is damaged.
You are right. On my sled there is a riveted cover which I didn’t want to drill out and replace. Without removing it I wouldn’t be able to access the drain plug. I feel it’s always good to do an inspection in there too when it’s open, but you are right on the drain plug!
Good Catch. I pour my leftover chain case oil in that container at the end of every year. The containers are 12 oz, the sled takes 8 ounces. I do two sleds so end up with 8 ounces left over every year.
Great video very helpful thank you!
You are welcome!
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for to do my sled. Thank you!
Glad I could help! Ricardo
I just had to do this tonight because my drain plug appeared to be stripped. Really was a much easier task than what I anticipated luckily.

It won't hurt to set the parking brake. It'll just make sure nothing has the opportunity to move. Thanks for watching!
Nice video thanks
Glad I could help!
Thanks very helpful
No problem!
Is there a separate gasket required?

There’s actually a drain plug on the bottom of the chain case. Don’t have to pull the cover off!

My question is why are using gear oil and not the chain case oil?
