Fun fact: Skeleturtle wasn't a prop, it was something that wandered onto the Infant Island set, and the crew decided not to shoo it off out of fear that disturbing its resting spot would anger it. There's actually far more footage of Skeleturtle, but the radiation it emitted ruined most of the film it was captured on.

I saw it as a kid and it kinda scared me when it moved, but I thought it was just a prop that someone moved on accident, but never realized that was supposed to be an actual creature, I liked the bone theory, that it's just a skeleton moving

Skeleturtle is actually just a baby Kaiju. More specifically, he's Gamara's son. That "skeleton" is really just an armoured exoskeleton, presumably from whatever mysterious being his mother was. He's just resting there, and trying to blend in with the real skeletons to hide from danger. When he's fully grown, he'll probably be stronger than Gamara or Godzilla. But we never saw him beyond that point, so his future is a mystery.
Seriously, I thought everyone already knew all this. This is basic stuff.
That is a good theory that it’s just an new born kaiju hiding from predators but I don’t think Skeleturtle has any connection with Gamera.

This could be an interesting idea for a real Kaiju monster - maybe Skeleturtle is actually some sort of zombie-like creature who's sort of halfway between dead and alive after being irradiated and the other kaiju monsters avoid him because he's basically a walking radiation hazard. Just 'cos he's small doesn't mean he can't be dangerous!

Problem with this is that some kaiju actually consume radiation, so he risks being prey to them. Though I do like the concept of a kaiju that’s main threat is being too radioactive as they are otherwise too close to death to be as destructive as other kaiju. A massive threat that more so needs to be stopped by non-violent means in order to prevent a disaster would make for an interesting drama.
Either way, he needs more love from Toho, but I feel like I say that in 99% of the profile videos.

I don't think that it's actually blinking. I think what we're seeing is through the other eye and the grainy film makes an illusion to make it appear like the skeleturtle is blinking.

I enjoyed this video a lot. I loved hearing about this extremely obscure creature in the Godzilla universe.
Maybe skeleturtke is a species of turtle that evolved scales to look like exposed bone so it could blind in.
Fun fact: the turtle had more screentime but due to how powerful it was and how it would easily become the strongest kaiju to ever exist they deemed it better to kill it off.

If you look closely, it's not actually blinking. The end of the neck holding the head up is visible through the eye socket, which gives the illusion of blinking.

Would like this guy return in the MonsterVerse. My guess is that in the MonsterVerse, it is a species of sea turtle native to Infant Island, and it looks like that because it eats the bones of dead animals and Titans, so it needs to blend in to its surroundings as it feeds.
Also for the MonsterVerse, you can tell that a Skeleturtle had been present because of broken bones that appear to have been chewed up as well as pure white droppings that contain high amounts of calcium (similar to a hyena’s droppings).

Yo, imagine the skeleturtle is a decoy, to make people or kaiju think it's harmless, but in reallity, that's just the top of the kaiju, the rest of the kaiju is underground waiting for someone or something to get near the fake turtle.
