Some fun facts:
• Hedorah was nicknamed "Gomi" (ゴミ, meaning *garbage* ) by Haruo Nakajima and staff during production of _Godzilla vs. Hedorah._
• The original Hedorah was portrayed by Kenpachiro Satsuma, who also portrayed Gigan in the Showa series and went on to be Godzilla in all the Heisei films!

When I was a kid the scene where Hedorah flew over the city emitting its toxic fumes freaked me right the hell out! Watching all those people just drop to the ground and dissolve into green skeletons was enough to make Hedorah one of my top ten kaiju.

Hedorah is one of the most interesting monsters to me. It inspired me to make my own monsters based on pollution, which Hedorah is a sludge monster, my monsters was based on different types of pollution.

My all-time favorite kaiju in any media. So alien, and everthing about its design literally and figuratively oozes toxicity, communicating the theme of a pollution monster perfectly. Right up my alley, although that's probably obvious given my profile picture.

real talk: Enshohma was one of my favorite kaiju fans as a kid for creating an entire Ultra-series fan universe (I think it was called Ultra-Theresa) complete with episode recaps and monsters for an entire fictional "season." Props, that content brought me so much joy!
I always thought those orbs were eggs. I remember the AVGN said some people think they’re eyes but thought that was ridiculous.
Then again...this is Hedorah. This movie is the weirdest next to Godzilla’s Revenge and Biollante.

Hedorah has a special place in my heart as this movie was the first Godzilla movie I ever watched over 20 years ago as part of a monster movie marathon. I was 5 back then and I'm still an avid fan sitting pretty at the ripe ol' age of 28. How many people can say Hedorah, out of all other Kaiju, changed their lives?

Hedorah has to be one of the most influential Kaiju in the whole series. Destoroyah and Shin Godzilla are just two that come to mind which take a lot of inspiration from Hedorah's multiple forms and independent cells.

If you take the Godzilla Defense Force mobile game into consideration the 2004 Hedora’s card info says that the red tips at the end of it’s arms and head means it is a male, so the first Hedora is actually a female
So that explains his small and slim design. Is because in nature the males tend to be smaller and slimmer than the females, but of course Hedorah isn't from earth

I cracked up when Godzilla started flying, I don't think I've ever seen that before, lol!
One of my very favorite Showa era kaiju, if not my favorite. I love this movie, since it's not typical Godzilla fare of the time; it's much creepier and darker in comparison, more brutally violent--as evidenced by Godzilla's injuries suffered while fighting Hedorah--and the score is spare and menacing to go along with it. Not to mention, even though drug laws in Japan are draconian compared to America, you have to wonder what the filmmakers were tripping on when they were making this movie. Obviously some good stuff! If they weren't on drugs, I dunno what to tell you, man!
Fun fact: Banno-san got his revenge on Tomoyuki Tanaka by having a directing credit on the 2014 Legendary Pictures Godzilla, because as the story goes, Tanaka-san was so profoundly angered by the end product of "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" that he declared to Banno-san's face "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIRECT ANOTHER GODZILLA MOVIE AS LONG AS I LIVE!" From a hospital bed, no less.

Well to be fair, DF isn’t canon, and wasn’t made by anyone involved in Toho, also there is only been one canon Hedorah in both continuities, I feel the the reason DF brings that up is because nearly every version of the monsters appear in the same continuity, thus they needed an explanation for why they look different.
That probably explains those “white orb” things goji tore out of hedorah...

This was my first Godzilla movie I watched when I was a kid and so it's always been my favourite of the originals.
What if....Hedorahs origin was that he was supposed to destroy humanity cause we pollute too much (I thought hedorah was a very annoying opponent in the Godzilla game)
