Very Very pleased with the work on my Car. D&D are just fantastic people and mechanics. Now the car is running properly, it flies. Mr Nice Guy is the man for your Mazda's. Hard working, honest and Nice. Thanks guys.
Great video as always. Why do some of these have a worn camshaft and others don't? Is it because of proper maintenance with regular oil changes? How many miles is on this Mazda?
I'm being quoted nearly 4k for new cam and chain on a Mazda 3 skyactiv 2.2 diesel. Error 0101. I don't know yet if it's worn yet. Power is way down on my car. What diagnosis tool should I get for checking this? Many thanks
If the 4 exhaust valves which operate from the worn camshaft are ceased in there valve guides due to carbon build up. How do you overcome that without taking the head of.
They are usually not seized as even the cam lobes are worn for the variable valve lift, the main lobe still pushes the valves down. You can argue that it doesn't push them down all the way which is correct. Only thing what comes to my mind is to gently tap the valves with a hammer when the valve cover is off. But need to be very careful as you may remove the valve keepers by accident and then the valve will fall into the cylinder.

When the engine is clean in the exhaust valve area like this, have you ever tried to look at the oil strainer thru the drain plug hole with a scope?
