I have this odd feeling that if any country or anyone with real power tried to take Sealand, the British government would probably step in as "a matter of national security".
Yea but I think America would do that if someone invaded Canada, the idea that sovereignty is dependent on other states not having an interest that they may act upon in the well-being of a neighboring state is way to weird to have any stake in reality

By the way, here is something you should ponder: How can countries stay as countries?
As you can see, Sealand is a place where the only residents are the royal family; quite a lonely place for a monarch, his wife, and his children. They are the only people that are able to have shelter; shelter is a hyperluxurious item equivalent to the Buckingham Palace in the UK. All visitors and commoners must sleep outside, regardless of the weather. Only the rich people get to bring tents. Also, the only building (the royal palace) is very weak as it doesn't have a foundation as it is very hard to dig through metal, and most foundations of buildings are made out of concrete. Therefore, one big wave could wash away the royal family into the North Sea. There are no guard rails, so tourists can fall to their death if they are not careful. Finally, the most important thing: How do the royal family get their food? As you can see, there is no soil to grow fruits or vegetables, and barely any space to raise livestock, so the only food the Sealanders can eat is fish, and they can only obtain plant-based calories from seaweed. Since the UN (and other countries) don't recognize Sealand, I doubt there will be constant food supply every month, and it is a very tough place for container ships to dock and unload resources for people to use. Therefore, if the country doesn't expand or create the food machine from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the people could eventually starve to death (as the aquatic resources will eventually dry out over time). Expansion of Sealand is basically equivalent to a real-life Hero Wars game: the prince must conquer the weak and uninhabited islands first to gather resources and military personnel, each uninhabited island adds a little bit to the overall power as it climbs the pyramid and then it can start invading real countries. The small countries fall first; the big countries stay standing longer. However, one blunder from a (slightly) more powerful country could mean the end of Sealand. However, this Hero Wars game is not easy; Sealand is boxed between several powerful countries that could eliminate them with only 1 bomb and 1 match.

I can't believe more people, with more money, take advantage of the aggressiveness shown by the Sealandian government. I don't imagine a hippie family being much resistance in case of a coup, even with guns.
The only reason why this place hasn't fallen to some African warlord yet is because they never heard of it, and in these worldwide communication days i'd be worried if i were "king".

Maybe you're right with todays nanny-state, H&S government. But he hasn't been making many friends in that area over the years, just the opposite. He had to re-capture the tower himself without help when it was hijacked earlier and his son was taken hostage, but i suppose if North Korea made nuclear silos there it would be a different matter.
