Nice pictures. Loved the moonshot! I will have to check out the Breakthrough filters. Great video.
Thanks Richard! I'm definitely enjoying mine, especially the magnetic ones. The CPL Dark and the regular CPL are seriously great.
Love your photography videos!
Thanks Karen, I really appreciate that!
What would your typical day to night interval be for your timelapses? Would you use aperture priority?
That really depends on a few things. How long are you shooting, where are you shooting, and how much effort do want to put into making the timelapse? If you're going to be shooting past the astronomical twilight and getting stars and such, then you'll want to set the interval to be longer than your planned max shutter speed (actually, you need to do that anyways), so say your ending shutter speed will be around 20 sec, then you'll want your timelapse interval to be something like 22-25 sec. You can use aperture priority, just keep in mind that you will get more flicker that way. You can easily fix the flicker in a program called LRTimelapse, but it takes a learning curve (I have videos on how to use it) and it is not free. I have a few videos on how do to day to night (or holy grail) timelapses, and a couple on editing them. Just keep in mind, that unlike regular timelapses, there's no real way of doing day-to-night timelapses that's easy, at least if you want decent looking results.
@@BrentHall thank you for answering. I realize it’s a complicated question! I have done a few short timelapses with about 500 photos that run about 25 minutes long. It’s usually part of the river and city at golden hour until sunset. I was thinking of extending the time until the building lights turned on but was worried about the flickering, as you said. I will be experimenting. Thanks again!
Great video. Thanks for this. I’m thinking about a timelapse for snow covered peaks at sunrise. So facing west and catching the rays on the east side. Do you suggest just manually adjusting exposure every few minutes or just put it on aperture priority and let it run? Thanks for being a great resource!!
I'd say it depends on how much effort you want to put into editing it in post. I do Av mode a lot because I'm lazy in the field and know that I can fix the flicker in LRTimelapse, but not everyone has the money or time to spend on that program. Manually adjusting, if done right, can yield less flicker for sure though, making editing easier.
@@BrentHall thanks. I’ve been doing edits in Lightroom and Premiere Pro. I saw what can be done in LRTimelapse and it’s amazing the smoothing/leveling that can be done. I’ll probably take a look at it. Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the content! I always learn something! * I really don’t understand though how you can say it’s not sponsored as they sent the filters to you! Unless you buy it yourself, there is a conflict of interest period. (Which I have no problem with.) At least you disclosed it by saying it was sent to you...
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! Concerning the products, I can say it's not sponsored because they're not paying me to make a video about it; and moreover, they are not even requesting that I do any videos about their gear at all. I chose to make a video featuring some gear that I am now using. They don't even know I made this video, and they probably will never even see it, because they didn't ask for it, and I didn't tell them about it. I did of course, disclose how I acquired the filters, though I feel that because of the circumstances and the nature of the video, it would be no different than if I had bought them, and there isn't any conflict of interest (in my mind).
I had a similar error message last week with my R5 just shooting photos. Still seems to be working fine after I removed and installed the battery. It does concern me a bit though.
That's really weird! I can't wait for that next firmware update.
Same here, are you using the latest firmware? I only did the first update on mine.
Yeah, I'm on the latest update.
How the RP is going for timelapses? Do you still think it is a good option?
It's doing very well. Yes, I still highly recommend it for timelapses!

Thanks! :)
CPL no good directly to light source
Bad ass pics..
Many thanks!
