Greg Maddux was a Scott Boras client -- in 1992! After winning his first Cy Young award in that year on a Cubs team that won only 78 games, the Cubs made him an offer of $25 million/5 years and gave him a noon deadline by which to sign -- this is before cell phones. He gets back to them at 12:05 pm, and they tell him the offer is off the table. The Cubs' General Manager was Larry Himes. Angry -- with Boras' encouragement -- Maddux signed with the Braves. Way to go, Cubs front office!
Im from Chicago and we had Maddux, and thanks to idiot Cub Management he went elsewhere to shine, He was already a rising star with the Cubs, but as with all Chicago teams management always find a way to F...k things up
I could watch Maddux talk all day about pitching. So fascinating.
Makes it sound pretty easy...

My good friend growing up, his dad “discovered” Maddux and Grace, among many others. Mr. Mapson, baseball junky to the nth degree

Just seeing this now. What are ya' -- tryin' ta kill me?!?
What an elegant monster. Pay attention kids; this man used to murder lineups wholesale, and with a terrifying efficiency!
Even years after retirement, Maddux have a baseball just readily available in his house lol
Thought about that too then i realized its probably an achievement ball or something
This is gold
I’m guessing Greg Maddox throws nearly everyday still in his own private bullpen set up at his house
Gosh someone hire him as a pitching coach
What a legend
