      That’s a question maybe you can answer in your next video? Do they give options for PA students to go into the sports medicine field? Do you need a background in sports medicine?

      Another question! I am a student athlete and have 2 more years of eligibility. My last eligibility will be the first year of PA school. Is it possible to still compete and manage PA school?

    • @DaywithaPA
      @DaywithaPA  4 года назад +1

      No, I don’t think it’d be possible to be an athlete and attend a PA program. The program might even have rules in place which would not allow this. You don’t need a background in sports med to work in that field!

    Huge fan of the channel, I am looking to become a PA and I have done a lot of research. I'm trying to somewhat mimic what Kaynen Brown did. I'm currently in nursing school and looking to get a year or two of experience as a nurse then start applying to PA schools. It's definitely not a easy route but in my opinion one of the best in terms of job security and a back up plan. I'll need to do a few pre-requisites that my BSN didn't require after nursing school to be able to apply to PA school, but to know that i'll almost always have a job gives me reassurance. Also I'll get real world clinical experience before PA school which will better prepare be for the clinical year after the didactic year in PA school.

    • @DaywithaPA
      @DaywithaPA  4 года назад +2

      Thanks! Kaynen is awesome. You’re right, if you want a true fall back plan, the nursing route is a good option as long as you’re willing to put in the additional work! Best of luck to you!

Now I am pursuing being a PA! Many people happen to change their major so it is absolutely ok to adjust at a later point.

    Yes I’m not liking the bio or chem pre reqs (+ the major is very challenging), but a lot of the pre reqs fall under the bio major. Then I also do want to major in something I can fall back on so I was thinking Econ or something, but sounds like a lot. Stuck between psych, bio, or Econ.

    This video helped me a lot! You said everything I was feeling my first semester of college! I'm a first-gen so I was totally lost and I'm still figuring out things. I'm currently about to finish my 3rd semester at a CC as a kinesiology major. I found the PA career path this semester and realized that this is what I want to pursue. I'm also nervous about not getting into PA school and having to fall back on a career in something I'm not passionate about. Would you recommend getting a minor in business or something as a plan B? Also, I'm thinking of taking the fall semester off since my school is staying closed and moving all classes online due to COVID because I would have to take anatomy and chemistry online. Do you think it's a good idea to wait until I can go to an in-person class? Should I wait until I transfer to a 4-year to take my pre-requisites since CC classes are seen as easier? Or would it look bad on my PA school application if I took a semester off.

    • @DaywithaPA
      @DaywithaPA  4 года назад +4

      Hey! So, first, you can minor in something is, but if it’s not a bachelors degree in that field, I’m not sure how beneficial it’d be. This was my mindset with PA school... keep a high GPA and get as much PCE as i can. If I don’t get accepted, fix my weak areas and apply again. I wasn’t going to take no for an answer and I sincerely believe that if you have to reapply and you work hard, you will get accepted.
      I’d wait to take them at your 4 year university. You won’t like the online class and it could affect your GPA. It won’t look bad to take a semester off, especially with our current state of affairs. It’d probably a great idea, to be honest!

    Hi, it was nice watching your video. I have a question though about exercise in general. I know it’s healthy for you, but what about over exercising? Like athletes retire before their 40s at the latest usually, and I have heard some dads “work themselves to death” and die when they are under 65 because their body worked so hard their whole lives. So what’s the best balance? Maybe just eating less and working just enough to stay healthy? I know high intensity exercises are really great for the heart, but as long as it doesn’t cause stress that can lead to heart problems right? Like if someone intentionally is raising their heart rate for a good cause like sports vs someone’s heart racing due to a stressor like a panic attack, because that’s negative energy? Basically, maybe I have answered my own question, but those little events added up over time have impact on your body. So what’s the best exercise? I heard swimming is good but also you can burn like 900 calories in less than an hour walking up an incline of 15 on a treadmill going at a speed of 3 mph, which is essentially walking up a mountain, so climbing mountains must also be great exercise right?

      Hi! Thanks for watching! That sounds like a great degree. Many PA programs don’t require physics, but there are a few that will, so I’d just look into the schools you think you’ll apply to and see so you’re not wasting time and money. Same goes for calc vs stats. When I applied, no one required calc and stats was acceptable. Take stats if you can!

I don’t mind science but I would absolutely hate to major in biology or chemistry. I’m mostly looking into college majors and degrees that will provide me with some sort of back up plan if I don’t get into PA school. In your opinion, would you say that a degree in healthcare, such as a health service management degree, would be a major good for PA school? Also, if I decide to major in a non science field, what’s the best way for me to get all my pre requisites to qualify for Pa programs? Thanks :)

    • @DaywithaPA
      @DaywithaPA  4 года назад +1

      You shouldn’t have to retake the course due to a situation outside of your control. This is where the optional covid related essay can come into play and you can explain why your transcript shows that. Of course, programs should acknowledge this as well. If I were you, I’d call some of the programs you’re applying to and make sure they aren’t recommending anything differently, but I can’t imagine a program would make you retake a course and pay the extra tuition for it all because of a circumstance you had no control over.

    What are the majors that you suggest...? I am a high school senior?.

      Like I said, anything science-related. It honestly doesn’t matter and one doesn’t make you more competitive over another. Choose something that interests you!

      @@DaywithaPA Thank you so much for your precious response. And will biology be fine or will it be too much ? Will it include the pre-reqs also?

      It’ll be fine. It will not cover all of the prereqs, but you will finish a handful of them with that major 👍

      Anything science related. You won’t learn anything about OB/GYN until you get to PA school
