I was 13 myself. Never missed Solid Gold - it was the highlight of my week! No MTV (or cable) at the time. Yeah, this performance was monumental. Heard this song, for the first time, during this episode of Solid Gold.! I was completely captivated! Both the sound and look of the band members was unusual yet unexplainably cool - uniquely 80's!! I thought Boy George was a gal! I knew something was off about "her", but I couldn't place my finger on it! I will admit, I found "her" unique look attractive. Several months later, school friends informed me that she wasn't a she! Whoops!! Funny, that never really bothered me a bit. Boy George is ok in my book!
his image was so unique, so original....creative......and the songs were great!...we dont get pop stars like thosein the 80s anymore. there was a lot of passion back then, all the brit 80s bands...love them all
Wow, this song brings back memories.... I was in junior high when this song was popular, and I remember listening to this song repeatedly on my "Walkman".... (the cassette version, of course...) ;)
This is my favorite Culture Club song...I remember I had an old 80’s new wave greatest hits tape back in the day with this song on it, I wore it out. I played it all day, every day. Great song...👍🏻
I was a kid and we had never seen anything like culture club. I remember seeing this and everyone standing in front of the tv during this performance with our mouth wide open. YEP small town Utah. Hello Boy George!!!!!
Man I wish I heard this song when this first came out! this is hawwt! , i9 just heard this song on the radio randomely for the first time! and this song is the bomb!
i remember when culture club first came out. the early 80s, ah how i long for that decade! high school parties, big hair, stoners w/rock concert t-shirts, preppies wearning 3 or 4 shirts/sweaters, jocks, great teen flicks, hanging w/friends, and F*CK'N GREAT MUSIC!!!!
Still a classic song to me. Look at the passion and the creativity. Still remember the brilliant performance when he was in Toronto. Can't get enough of this song. BG/CC touched my heart. Thanks for the awesome memories.
I feel so sorry for people who missed out on the 80's, it was a time like no other. I have 700 songs and 350 videos from the 80's on my iPod, and it's going to my grave with me!
Yes, I know what you mean about being there when all this came out. Thank God for youtube, parents and older siblings, for without them a new generation of fans would not be able to enjoy great music such as this timeless CC classic!
the very first version of culture club a great playback, but how good were the songs, time, church of poison mind and especially victims, sad it is now a fat guy lost somewhere in NY..:((( what's left of these incredible years of rock and crazyness, visage, marilyn etc...!!
@missiramey I was really tiny when they first came out but Caught The Culture club bug When I was in Jr. high 93/94 and My Bedroom was also wall papered with pictures of Them and George, My mother walked in and actually started crying....
It was the drummer John Moss. He's george lover at that time. check out the "it's a miracle" video, where their holding hands, that should give a clue, but yeah we were kids at that time and were clueless bout that scene.
I think you're right! I hadn't noticed until I saw your comment and paid attention. I guess because he usually is wearing shoes I didn't think otherwise. But yeah, he had the good ol' barefeet dancin on that stage! : )
FUN NOTE: Boy George asked the producers that he did not want the solid gold dancers on stage with them, because he thinks they don't fit in with their style of music.
WOW!! Thank you for for sharing and adding! This was fantastic to see the early days of Culture Club and Boy George. Thanks for sharing! I placed it in my favorites.
I know alot of people think the 80's was lame and cheesy, but i have to say there's alot of lame and cheesy music happening right now in 2007.I agree with Simon 5005,the 80's was an awesome time and I'm so happy i got the chance to enjoy it.

All-time early 80's classic, & I care not about this young mans' sexuality--what a voice he had, & what a song this is. Memories, 4-Ever. Wolfsky9.
Its so interesting now to discover that all of the love songs Boy George had written was about the drummer...talk about a soap opera drama!
Just ANOTHER wonderful Group and Song from the 1980s!!!
Their best song...simply beautiful. And The Boy can SING!
It was the drummer John Moss. He's george lover at that time. check out the "it's a miracle" video, where their holding hands, that should give a clue, but yeah we were kids at that time and were clueless bout that scene.

+disiskrazy d They didn't fit in with anybody's style of music. Horrible -- particularly the lead, Darcel. Ugh.
