Solvel that's a name I've not heard for a long long time. Was the best polish for chrome bumpers in the past. Some great machining Ade. Very well done. Cheers Nobby
Like the polished satin finish Ade, you could use the orbital sander with some cloth , there is some velcro polishing mops available. I have used a scotchbrite pad on the sanders just held by the coarse grit pads. Looking very nice. Thanks for sharing and may I wish all a Happy Easter.
Haha, interrupted by an electrical wasp... A fun friend named those trimmers like that. Here was a good day pulled out by 4 motors with 4 propellers... Cheers
I like the sanded finish. Here in the States, there is a favored polish for aluminum among the truck drivers. I think it's called "Mother's." Maybe you have an equivalent over there. Ask your truck drivers.
If you're buying (or begging ;) ) for new taps, try spiral flute ones - they're the bee's-knees for hand tapping aluminium and you only need one of them (not 1st / 2nd / plug). For metal polish it's still Autosol!
Great video Ade, some nice tips on finishing the aluminum. Enjoyed very much, cheers! I had a 1975 Kawasaki and I remember trying everything available around year 2000 , not sure why, but the bike looked better than it was new, and the fine finish seemed to last forever.
Ades just use WD40 and a scotch brite to polish up Scouring pads are no good you can also get scotch Brite sanding pads for you hand sander, but they cost a bit.
@@ade63dug I must have missed that video Ade dont know how thought i had watched all of your videos, anyway will find it later to watch. All the best Baz
Hi Ade, love the satin finish, stick with that would be my advice due to oil and fingerprints. Solvol Autosol is the Aluminum polish for me. 1 tube will see us both out lol. Cheers, Jon

Good to hear! i am sure Ian is great to deal with and perfect stock for modelmakers .
I have been happy with Brasso on aluminium. It does give a nice high polish. Looking forward to seeing the engine complete.

Hi Ade, I like Duraglit, have had a tin for 30 years. lol
Hope you have a good Easter and love the videos you put out
good video ADES
I was wondering whether a pad of Scotchbrite under the orbital sander might give a satisfactory finish.
Full confidence in your choice, Ade!
That is worth a try . nice idea . cheers Ade.
Hi Ade, it may be a bit late but did you consider finishing the base plate using engine turning for the finish.
I did that on the Stuart S50 model . just mixing it up a bit and I may etch the base with a logo moving forward. Cheers Ade.
