- I found this on an old VHS tape. This performance was at the Country Music Hall of Fame induction of Ray Price in 1996.
AKUS is simply awesome with their version of this song. I'd love for them to put it on an album someday.
I'd bet many AKUS fans haven't seen this one! Enjoy!
P.S. - Sorry for the audio. The cheapo conversion tool I used for this to get it off of the VHS tape only grabbed one side of the audio. - Видеоклипы
It's impossible for this women to sing a bad note. ......perfection!
I don't say this about very many, but this lady can flat out sing. Her delivery is spot on, unpretentious and genuine. One of the all time best, no question about it.
Alison could sing the phone book beautifully.
truth
🙌 I have every piece of anything she ever sang. I never aspired to be a singer but I would have quit once I heard her lol 💙
She has the sweetest tender voice I fell in love with it the first time I heard it.
Alison is one of my favorite singers. Her songs are as beautiful as she is.
I remember hearing her when she first started singing at age 14. She only got better with age. Great and pure voice. No gimmicks 🖒
Love to hear Allison sing!
AK,WHAT A VOICE!
She was 26 years old there. What a knock out and a voice to match!!
I love Alison , no matter what she's singing.... it's always beautiful ! Such a remarkable woman and talent . 😘👌👍👏🙏
She has this fascinating warble to her voice, a kind of vibrato but somehow unique.
Not to be disrespectful to Allison but her voice has an Alvin the Chipmunk sound to it and I love her.
Une très belle mélodie, Félicitations...j'aime beaucoup Félicitations à vous tous merveilleux moments...👍🥰🤗🇨🇵🤓
I love the song - thank you Merle... and now that Alison has added the female voice to this wonderful song, it is complete and beautifully finished.
I've always loved this song.I remember Johnny Rodriguez covering it too. What a beautiful rendition by Allison, but I never expected less.
Beautiful!!
Très belle interprétation ,Félicitations à vous tous...😫🥰🤓🇨🇵
There’s another voice that you can pick out in no time. I don’t if there’s any auto tune going on there. They are all just great together. What a sound.
Thank you for uploading Alison's live version of this great song, I love it !!!
Thanks so much for posting this. Been looking for it for years. I remember watching this performance back in '96 as it was such a beautiful rendition of this great tune and one you don't ever hear Alison sing. Thanks again.
I love you alison!
Nice arrangement and performance. Cheers to Alison and the group. Insightful and delightful that they chose this sweet tune to cover. Bravo!
Best of the Best Country music
Hello Barbra, how are you doing?
Her version of this Merle Haggard song is so unique due to her cold vibrato!!! I really love her version!!!
this is not mh writin. Whitie Shafer wrote it ..
Nice to see all them youngsters...and a young Adam Steffey!
Hello Regina, how are you doing?
Fantastic, Gorgeous Voice.
Alison is dreamy. Oh my.
Love everything you do. You are one of a kind lady. 🤗🙏👏🇨🇦
and then Alison sang it....one of a kind
That is just our Alison doing what she does best ,out singing everyone, doesn't do it on purpose, just a fact
What an AWESOME interpretation. Thanks!
you know she is good, bettor than good, she has sang with every band out there, very popular
thanks for posting that it's a real treasure :)
I love her I really do
My right ear enjoyed this
She could sing mean tweets and it would be heavenly!
VERY GOOD
this is absolutely wonderful....thank you so much!
There’s nobody better than Alison Krauss or her band
there are only two favorite singers in my life, Alison Krauss, is the last and irreplaceable.
Very good.
Thank you JoeK!!!
This was the only performance of AKUS on this special. I haven't converted any of the other songs by the other acts. To be honest, they aren't worth converting and uploading. This performance definitely was. AKUS is great, Haggard is great, this song is great, isn't on any AKUS album, and nobody else posted it. I felt I would do a grave injustice to AKUS fans if I didn't post! The only other memorable performance on that show was Ray Price doing a small part of "for the good times".
Alison’s voice is beautiful it would be hard to beat it by any other female singer,,,
Judith Durham of the Seekers is on par.
I see, too bad. I'm glad you posted it. It's a wonderful cover. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this.
Jewel is a singer from Alaska. She's married to Ty Murray, a 9 time Rodeo champion from Arizona. They live in Texas now. They do a lot of charity work.
SOUNDS GREAT! THANKYOU!
thank you Angel
Alison could sing every word backwards , she would still sound amazing
Love Alison
She pretty much makes whatever song she sings her own
Thanks very much indeed for sharing! :)
Thats the way love goes 😘💋💞
My favourite youtube video! You don't have the rest of the concert?
I love this song. I like the version that she sings with Mary Chapen Carpenter
@chillbillly Jerry is awesome, and does add to the band, but I really miss Adam Steffey. He is an incredible mandolin player. I was really sad to see him leave the group. I'd like to see them add a full time mandolin.
Alison ist schon toll ...
Wow..
❤️
If Alison could add a solo fiddle line to this, it would be magical. Is this rendition in the key of D? If it is, then the fiddle could start the main melody with the F-sharp on the E string. Yes, a higher fiddle line rather than lower so that it will sound like Mendelssohn and Merle!
Did you find out what key she sang this in?
I Love Allison I don't know why she don't write her own stuff.
😪
Johnny Rodriquez does it the best he has awesome voice
I love this version a lot I hope somebody remasters it it’s a crappy video
You and me both. So far it seems like I was the only one who was recording it way back then. Unfortunately it's a VCR recording and it was the only way I had to record TV in the mid 90s. It's a miracle that the tape survived long enough for me to convert it to a digital format. It would be great if CMT would re-release these hall of fame event videos.
Yes yes yes RAa yes yes RAa yes
I've been throwing horseshoes
Over my left shoulder
I've spent most all my life
Searching for that four-leafed clover
Yet you ran with me
Chasing my rainbows
Honey, I love you, too
And that's the way love goes
That's the way love goes, babe
That's the music God made
For all the world to sing
It's never old, it grows
Losing makes me sorry
You say, "honey, now, don't worry"
Don't you know I love you too?
And that's the way love goes
That's the way love goes, babe
That's the music god made
For all the world to sing
It's never old, it grows
Losing makes me sorry
You say, "honey, don't worry"
Don't you know I love you too?
And that's the way love goes
she said he was one of her favorite superstuds...
haha, wtf?
Before Haggard, Rodriquez made this song a hit.
