Patsy Cline returns to Carnegie Hall! How magical that Allison Krauss chose to sing this at this Opry performance. Cline made her Carnegie Hall debut with The Opry on November 29, 1961 and was quite a sensation with the audience, so much so that she had several standing ovations. When Dorothy Kilgallen called them "hicks from the sticks" Patsy shot back "If I ever meet that wicked witch of the east, I'll let her know just how PROUD I am to be a hick from the sticks!"
I am a better person knowing this song was sung. I love Alison and this is my favorite Patsy Cline song. I love both versions the same. Patsy's voice fits the song. However. Alison can fit her voice to any song. Just to hear her sing is amazing.I have yet to see her live and I should make an effort to one of these days.
Well...in all fairness...one cannot improve on the perfection and soul that was Patsy. That said, this is an outstanding version with real feeling and great playing from the musicians who understand it's their job to make their star shine!
I love Patsy, and I love Alison Kraus, this an amazing song, but it’s NOT a country song, it’s a du wap song. I like Allison’s pure rendition, but I’ve argued with lots of people that this was the cross over song for patsy, that led to sweet dreams.
How can you even compare compare Alison Krauss with Patsy Cline based on this song as thats what youre doing? To say Alison is the best singer in the world is a crazy statement. There are so many singers with so many different styles and some are the best in there style, so your statement, based on one song doesnt make sense. How did you come to that statement, please explain? Yes I like Alison doing this but.
@@tjpassig208 The songwriter actually requested that she do it because she was his favorite singer. Alison definitely wouldn't have done it otherwise.
this performance needs a love button, like is just not enough
If I could like this video a 1,000 times it wouldn't be enough.
Pasty would have been proud. Excellent job.

Still "Proud To Be One...", Thanks Again, Patsy !! 🤔🤨😂💯💛👍👍👌
She owns every single thing she sings. It's just that simple.
Alison Krauss is the best that ever was or ever will be.
Except this! The Petersens did not just cover Hank Cochran, They overhauled it.
she's that Loretta Lynn everyone was waiting for
@@apriljust1 - That is like calling Denton Cooley a patent medicine salesman. Loretta Lynn does not even compare to her own sister.
Sorry that song belongs to Patsy Cline!
How can she own a Patsy Cline song? stupid statement!!!!!!!!!
She's got the voice of an Angler❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
OMG she's gorgeous and with the voice of an Angel!!!!!❤👼
I never would’ve thought about Allison singing a Patsy Cline song. Their voices are so different and I love them both but she nails it
Wow! She must have the sweetest, and purest voice I've ever heard.
I love Alison to Pieces .. A gift from God to Me !
Man this band right here is just PERFECTION!
This version is just magical, such a pure voice and looks wonderful as always.
Alison is one of the very few singers that can do justice to a Patsy Cline song.
she s got me
her voice is so pure and soothes my soul ...
Her timing is WOW ❤
What a beautiful rendition. Such emotion.
Alison Forever!!! Break A Leg, girl!!! :-)
SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE.
Voice of an angel...
This girl can sing anything
I'm a Patsy Cline Fan but Alison Krauss Is the best singer in the world!
Please explain how you can even think Allison Krauss does this better than Patsy Cline. That statement is crazy.
NO body is better than the Cline
What about Ellen Petersen Haygood. she is also in the top 3.
She's the best!
wow she is so fantastic.
Very good rendition. She has been one of my favorite singers for years now.
I’m a huge fan of Allison, but no one can sing this song like Patsy Cline. No one.
Its not a competition. Its a tribute.
Perfection! How sweet it is!
Beautiful song love her dress.
Always amazing and beautiful.
She is my compass

Best cover yet. Though the original is still best....
Love ❤️ her voice so beautiful. She is a great artist. ❤
Hank Cochran requested that she sing this song because she was his favorite singer.
she's that Loretta Lynn everyone was waiting for
Yes yes oh what a thrill
Oh Jerry! 3:22 Corleone, G.
She’s just as magical. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.
She need to do another album of songs of the artists like this Patsy Cline.
Once Patsy Cline sings a song it's hers but Allison does it justice
❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
She's good ,but something is missing ,the Cline touch me thinks
I enjoyed watching Jerry Springer on the drums.

Both Alison and Loretta put so much more emotion in this song, although I loved Patsy Cline.
Jerry Douglas used to live by us in levitsburg ohio
Where Can I Get This On Record.
Those unacknowledged solos by Ron Block and Jerry Douglas.. maybe I just couldn't hear the audience.

I really like Alison Krauss as well but if I was a singer I would never sing a Patsy Cline song you just can't measure up.
Then how do you explain this? No disrespect to the late and great Patsy Cline whatsoever. Alison's performance is untouchable.
It was requested by the songwriter because she was his favorite singer.
Rehanne Rhimes does it better
Yes. I agree. Alison did this as a request from a gentleman from the opery. She did not want to do it. she said oh geez when he asked. Lol
Guessing you mean LeAnn Rimes. And I disagree, respectfully. I don't even think it's that close.
FWIW, my wife agrees with you, citing the passion and fullness of Rimes' voice.
@@tjpassig208 The songwriter actually requested that she do it because she was his favorite singer. Alison definitely wouldn't have done it otherwise.
I agree. She actually has a voice that's very close to Patsy.
Very weak compared to Cline and especially Giddens
perfect cover
