At nosktella right after grace, you dont need to go up the stairs , just stay on the ground, unless you need gold seed,larval tear and tallisman. also the thing that those shrimpy thing is guarding is a dagger that inflicts scarlet rot, which is a very op weapon.
for the lake of rot you can just use "flame cleans me" incantation every couple of seconds to remove rot effect, it's way easier and it has really low requierments so almost anyone can use it and it's even easy to find

Just an fyi, in order to go through the cave after beating astel, you’ll need the ring of oath, the only way to get this is by completing the ranni questline, so if you go to far you wont be able complete the questline and never be able to get to the top

If you guys don’t wanna do the ranni quest line then there’s another way to do it, you’ll have to beat the two valiant gargoyles in the sofria aqueducts and enter a coffin. And after that you’ll enter the deep root depths then what you’d want to do is ignore some enemies and reach a grace with a finger reader right next to it then you’ll be near a waterfall then you’d want to go to the other side of the waterfall ignoring enemies in the process and enter the coffin again. Then you’ll be in nokstella without doing the ranni quest line
IMPORTANT: To get past into the far cave, once you have defeated the boss (Astel), you’ll need the ring of oath. To get the ring, complete all of Ranni’s quest line to the point where you pick up the Ranni doll. Once you have the doll, rest at the Nokstella Waterfall Basin grace and talk to the doll (multiple times). Following the conversation head immediately down the tunnel and defeat the red enemy in the chamber at the end (don’t slow down in the tunnel as there are poisonous lizards). Once you have defeated this enemy, Ranni will say her final goodbyes and give you the Discarded Palace Key. Use this key on the chest next to Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library - this will give you the ring of oath which will FINALLY enable you to enter the last stretch to get atop albunaric village! Hope this helps 👊🏼

Okay so the worst advice he gave was “just use all your heals on lake of rot” equip ur immunity talisman, mushroom gear, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the incantation Flame, Cleanse me and you can wander around the lake all day just fine

Everyone can avoid going up those stairs an just search the bottom area to get to that lift btw lol there's 2 lifts one on the bottom which is the one you took them too an one up top which they don't have to use unless they want the golden seed

Of course there is some quest to open Renna's rise. And I'm sure during that quest there will be another quest to open something else and then you eventually forget what the hell you were even originally trying to accomplish.
There's another way to get to Ansel River Main. North East of the Nameless Eternal City site of grace in Deeproot, you can find another coffin that'll drop you down in Ansel River Main.
That’s not true you need a ring of oath to proceed past the bug boss. He didn’t mention that. So I beat the bug boss in the scarlet lake but I can’t proceeed, it’s blocked by a magical barrier

🤫 Before you start, you have to complete rannis questline and have defeated queen rennala. You get a key from killing wolfman before bug boss and wolfman is part of rannis quest. The key will unlock chest by queen rennala after defeating her. Inside the chest is the dark moon ring needed to pass the veil after killing bug boss . I was lucky enough to have done both before starting 🙉

Grab some Preserving Boluses and you won’t even need a heal potion. It gets rid of the rot
