It's interesting to hear the differences between Calypso and Davy's lockets. Calypso's sounds new and delicate, while Davy's sounds more worn and heavily used. He's been playing it almost constantly for decades, and it shows.
Well since Jones constant has his ship submerged underwater and is constantly been sailing through storms and raging seas for 200+ years with his locker in his pocket or on his deranged looking ship it only makes since that his locket would sound a little more worn out.

The reason I believe Calypso never showed up is because she purposefully wanted him trapped, forever sailing the sea. Calypso is the sea and he'd forever be bound with her, forever sailing in her essence. They would, matter of factly " be together always". You shouldn't have got involved with a whore in the first place, Davy! We have a saying in my country that states "The rock can melt but a whore never repent" Meditate it, mah cap'n
To kinda get an understanding of what happened you have to understand the Myth of Calypso. She was a goddess who had tried to trap Odysseus and make him her eternal husband. She trapped him with her voice...and he was doomed to stay with her...until Zeus ordered her to set him free. When that happened she angrily commented that "The gods hate for goddesses to have affairs with mortals" Thus...in Pirates of the Caribbean...Calypso decides to take Davy Jones for a lover...for all eternity. She probably didn't show up due to the gods not approving but also what she said was true...as a goddess...it is her nature to always be ...just out of reach to mortals... so near yet so far. Clearly she loves him, because she is concerned at how he has "corrupted himself". And though he tries to fight it...he still loves her. Ultimately it all seemed to work out for her, because she speaks of them being together for all eternity which would not have been possible before...if she had actually showed up for that 1 day. To show up for that 1 day...and then let him go due to the gods not approving...as she was forced to do with Odysseus in the myth, probably would have been too much to bear....so she just didn't show at all to trap him with her for eternity. It could have been all those things combined. Also Is it bad that I found Davy Jones hot?! And was totally attracted to him? Theres just something sexy about a character that in love! Calypso was a fool! I would have done him right in that cell tentacles and all! LOL
At first I couldn't understand what she was saying because the accent was very hard to decipher. But when I did understand everything she was saying, God I teared up
I don't think Calypso betrayed Davy Jones; I think her "it's in my nature" runs deeper than that. After roaming the oceans for ten years for her love, he went back ashore to find her. But she's the goddess of the sea. Of course she wouldn't wait for him on land...
Davy Jones is a truly tragic and well written character. He's still an asshole and a good villain, but what he became was really not his fault. This was one of the few strong scenes in this third movie. It was well written for the characters and perfectly acted.
Tia Dalma/Calypso: My sweet. You've come for me? Davy Jones: You were expecting me. Tia Dalma/Calypso: It has been torture. Trapped in this single form, cut off from the sea. From all that I love. From you. Davy Jones: Ten years I devoted to the duty you charged me. Ten years I looked after those who died at sea, and finally, when we could be together again, You.Weren't.There.(* shuts off music box, furious.*) Why weren't you there? Tia Dalma/Calypso: It is my nature. Would you love me if I was anything but what I am? Davy Jones: I do not love you!
***** True...Most just repeat it just to get likes though, hence my test to see what they were about. The fact they just decided to try to insult me as opposed to explaining it to me makes me think they were doing it just to get likes.
***** I thought the way I went about it may have been assy, but not outright insulting. If I wanted to be insulting, I would've called them a fuckwit like-whore or something. I was actually only being half-serious until they decided to say what they said. Again though, I've been insulted out right on here. My response was shitty because they were shitty, but I at least explained why I put down what I put down as opposed to just saying "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on" and left it at that in the comment equivalent to a rage-quit. That's why I posted what I did in my response to you.
I'm just now realizing they foreshadowed this whole romance at the end of DMC. We got a random shot of the locket when they're at her place and then in AWE we get a shot of the OTHER locker Davy Jones has while he's playing the organ. I'd also watch a movie of their origin story.
The CHEMISTRY. Its so damn original and perfect to the tiniest details. While mainstream romances focus on two good looking couples having a happy relationship with typical romance building *cough*willabeth*cough* this one blew me away. While Willabeth is romantic and wonderfuly paired with music of its own, Calypso and Davy Jones have a different dynamic and breaks us out of the boring mainstream. I absolutely LOVE it. My pirate hats off.
I don't know why but when I heard him say her name while touching her face with his HUMAN HAND makes want to cry for some reason?!!!! Anyone had the same dilemma?
Maybe it is not ten years for me. I loved my girlfriend so much, we had to separate for period of time due to several reasons, but the week before I could finally see her again, she wanted to break up with me. I can't imagine how David Jones felt when his GF wasn't there after 10 years of waiting.
Not only was the line "My heart will always belong to you." said in THE perfect, sweetest, most lovingly-honest way, but the little school girl smile on Calypso's face was just adorable! It's like teenage first love, only dramatic and with mythical creatures and gods! 3:37 - 3:46
Am I the only one who wishes that their love story was more explored? Or even had its own spin off movie? (I mostly want more moments of these two together...)
I love this scene. So emotional, and sad.. When Davy Jones turns into a human again you can see his sadness and all his love to Calypso... And in the end "My heart will always belong to you" ...
True. Davy Jones and Calypso should've been the main relationship of this franchise. Every relationship in POTC is better than the forced of Wiil and Elizabeth's lol
+Zyzor Joke's on them; it'd turn human as soon as it was lopped off. You're assuming his limbs _could_ be hacked off, considering the only way to harm him in this incarnation is to go after his heart.
"It has been torture. Trapped in this single form. Cut off from the sea. From all that i love. From you" Ohhhh Calypso.....what a deserving twist of irony for you.....
Ten years, I devoted to the duty you charged me. Ten years, I looked after those who died at sea, and finally, when we could be together again, you weren't there. Why Weren't You There?
I'm pretty sure Francium and water is a better love story than. Twilight. At the very least Francium and water has better chemistry than Bella and Edward.
i was in long distance relationship with a girl who i loved with all my heart, and i only got to see my love when she comes to visit for the holidays. although its not once every 10 years i can still relate to davy :( after almost 2 years of a beautiful relationship she eventually broke my heart. now i cry when i watch this scene. sorry for this but i just wanted to let it off my chest.
Calypso had no reason not to meet Jones after the ten first years unless she played him for her own sadistic reasons. She scammed him by making him sacrifice 10 years of his life in hardwork and loneliness for nothing. Thats overly cruel even for though love and Jones still loves her. Poor guy lmao.
If you understood the backstory of Calypso then you would know that wasn't true. By meeting with him she ultimately wouldn't have been able to be with him forever. If she really was playing him then she could've absolutely destroyed him for his betrayal later in the movie when she was released but she didn't. Instead she stayed nuterul giving both sides a chance.
I love how Davy Jones starts his locket the moment Tia stops hers, and he lets his music play while he speaks until shutting it when he gets serious. That whole moment is amazingly creepy and tragic.
Ten years, I devoted to the duty you charged me. Ten years, I looked after those who died at sea, and finally, when we could be together again, you weren't there. Why Weren't You There?"
When Davy Jones said: "My heart will always belong to you." It seemed Tia Dalma/Calypso became a bit happier. (Please get back together for all eternities!)
I did this rant on another video too but seriously Davy Jones is an amazing character. RANT TIME What makes a good villain is their backstory, the part that no one knows about but explains why the character does what he/she does or turned "evil". Davy Jones is a villain with depth, character and an amazingly emotional and heartbreaking backstory that Bill Nighy depicted spectacularly. "Love is a viscous motivator." (Sherlock quote) Taking this into consideration he turned cruel because the woman he loved and gave everything(his freedom) to serve betrayed him on a whim. Also, can someone explain to me why Calypso didn't fucking show up, like I know you're a goddess and all that but you supposedly loved him so dont go and break his heart. The best thing about Davy Jones' character is the fact that despite everything that she cost him, his heartbreak being the reason he turned into a "monster" and carved his heart out, he still loved her. His heart still beat for her despite acting on vengeance and trapping her. Literally. His last words were 'Calypso'. I really absolutely love Davy Jones' character and would like to see him redeemed and returned in the 6th movie if there is going to be one. Thank you for your time.
10 years I devoted to the duty you charged me.. 10 years I looked after those who died at sea.. And finally.. When we could be together again.. You.. Weren't.. THERE ??? Why weren't you there ?! .. It's my nature !! Would you love me, if I was anything but what I am I do NOT love you.. Many things you were Davy Jones.. But never cruel..! You have corrupted your purpose.. And so your self.. And you can not hide away, whats always been mine!! .. Ahh, ha,,,ahhhhh ... .. Ca.......lips......sooooo
I like how the music boxes sound out of tune, Davy Jones' being rougher sounding and Calypso's being at a higher pitch. The music boxes must play together to make it "in-tune". Love that they did that
Calyspo: "And what of your fate, Davy Jones?" Jones: "My heart will always belong to you." Oh my god, I cried when I watched this scene. You have to give Bill Nighty some credit, to be able to play a character such as Davy Jones with such emotion it's enough to make you cry when you hear him say his best line.
can someone please make the exact sound of this locket fucking every other one I looked at has that stupid other note you'll know what I mean please please please
DarthWill3 except Nora Fries was loyal and loved Victor, and Davy Jones is more like how freeze is when Nora is gone forever....or he's just a head in a jar.But yes...tragic.
10 Years.... 10 years I waited, everyday dreaming of her... But when I went to see her, she wasn't there! 10 Years before the mast... Yet not the feeling of her warm hand on my face, nothing but the chilling spray of the sea... Damn her... 10 Years...
You can see when davy Jones said my heart will always belong to you it looks like calypso is remembering the same thing he said before he left and it seems she was about to cry
You know, for all that the first POTC movie was the best and these movies have gotten progressively worse since, the idea of casting Bill Nighy as Davy Jones was fucking inspired. He is perfect in this role.
I disagree I think the whole trilogy was great including the 3rd movie which was more of finishing the story of the second. We get to finally wrap up the 2nd film and the action scenes were great. I don't understand how the 2nd film could be bad, its a really great movie.
+AnnaGalaxySparkle Yeah. The relationship between Jones and Calypso is actually real love. Whereas Edward and Bella only feel obsessive lust for each other.
@@Xehanort10 A tragic one, but still true love. We get why Davy Jones would fall for Calypso: She is unpredictable, untameable and fickle, like the element she embodies: the sea. On the other side, we can't fathom why Edward would "fall in love" with Bella: She is bland, boring and lacks personality.
@@jorgebersabe293 And Bella's clearly loony for being interested in a guy who flat out admits to her that he wants to kill her and drink her blood comparing it to heroin. If a normal, sane woman heard a guy say he wanted to drink her blood and compared it to a drug they'd run away.
@@Xehanort10 It gets even more disturbing when you know that Bella is a self-insert of Stephenie Meyer, the author, who based the saga on her wet dreams. Her whole work screams: "My marriage is failing, I am sexually frustrated and I wrote it down." Stephenie Meyer is the main character of the Twilight saga and is in love with her own creation to an unhealthy degree. Even Robert Pattinson said it on an interview.

Jones is also similar to Thanos in Marvel Comics (not MCU Thanos); both of their actions revolve around pleasing a deity or force of nature.
@@vladdracula8103 garrosh is somewhat also a kind of tragic villain too
My favorite scene in all these movies is this one. " My heart will always belong to you"
To kinda get an understanding of what happened you have to understand the Myth of Calypso. LOL
This took a turn.

At first I couldn't understand what she was saying because the accent was very hard to decipher. But when I did understand everything she was saying, God I teared up
His only one true crime was falling in love a crime every man commits. If you could call that a crime in the first place.
True your comment is very deep
Screen shot this comment
love can be a dream come true, or a nightmare personified. in some cases, both.
Connor Kingston a mistake, not a crime.
Its the worst crime of all since it is a crim against ones self. And the one most frequently committed
I don't think Calypso betrayed Davy Jones; I think her "it's in my nature" runs deeper than that. After roaming the oceans for ten years for her love, he went back ashore to find her. But she's the goddess of the sea. Of course she wouldn't wait for him on land...
I literally got chills when the calypsos song stopped the Davy Jones started playing
Dan .Britcher And then we get that awesome shot at 0:33.
Davy Jones is a truly tragic and well written character. He's still an asshole and a good villain, but what he became was really not his fault. This was one of the few strong scenes in this third movie. It was well written for the characters and perfectly acted.
Utterly, totally and completely agree! The chemistry is unreeaal!!!! 😱😱
+Slobodan Stefanov Next time you go to try to insult someone, do it in a way that makes sense. I have NO idea what you said.
***** Alrighty then. :)
Q you sure do like talking to yourself huh
I’ve always been so drawn to this scene. It’s just so... hauntingly beautiful
My pirate hats off.
so sweet in the end "my heart will always belong to you" .. in the italian version he's not so sweet
it says the same thing but the voice , the feeling , i think they're expressed better in the english version
This scene is so deep. So romantic. And so tragic.
*I do not love you....*
Yet of course he actually does.
3:37...*my heart will always belong to you*
(his contradiction)
Why are you dorks quoting the video we all just watched?
*Do you fear death?*

"My heart will always belong to you - Calypso".
- Davy jones*
I don't know why but when I heard him say her name while touching her face with his HUMAN HAND makes want to cry for some reason?!!!! Anyone had the same dilemma?
Would've been the funniest plot twist ever if Elizabeth really was Calypso. Jack and Will's reactions.
These scene make me cry every time ..
Maybe it is not ten years for me. I loved my girlfriend so much, we had to separate for period of time due to several reasons, but the week before I could finally see her again, she wanted to break up with me. I can't imagine how David Jones felt when his GF wasn't there after 10 years of waiting.
But, would you lover her if she was anything but what she was.
Jerome Talor man, you got me with that. 😂😂😂 - Give him the largest beer!
*Great* story. The only way you could make me tear up more is to play "Dueling Banjos" on a Stradivarius.
better love story than twilight i swear
wade f'kn wilson every love story is better than twilight
Adam Including Reaper x Narissa from my Star Wars OCs?
Actualy to an extent beter than willabeth
"My heart will always belong to you." That gets me everytime I love it!
Not only was the line "My heart will always belong to you." said in THE perfect, sweetest, most lovingly-honest way, but the little school girl smile on Calypso's face was just adorable! It's like teenage first love, only dramatic and with mythical creatures and gods! 3:37 - 3:46
Great, now i want to see more of Davy Jones as a human
Am I the only one who wishes that their love story was more explored? Or even had its own spin off movie? (I mostly want more moments of these two together...)
I love this scene. So emotional, and sad.. When Davy Jones turns into a human again you can see his sadness and all his love to Calypso...
And in the end "My heart will always belong to you" ...
I truly wish Calypso and Davy has a bigger arc than boring ass Elizabeth and Will
Sailorcutie14 Same...much more interest
True. Davy Jones and Calypso should've been the main relationship of this franchise. Every relationship in POTC is better than the forced of Wiil and Elizabeth's lol
I would like a prequel in which we see Davy Jones when he fell in love with Calypso it would be something romantic as well as sad
davy jones's crab claw is huge I bet if Japanese fishermen were nearby they'd hack it off and sell it for a fortune.
+Zyzor Joke's on them; it'd turn human as soon as it was lopped off.
You're assuming his limbs _could_ be hacked off, considering the only way to harm him in this incarnation is to go after his heart.
Q
then they'd sell it to the chinese who'd definitely eat it.
Zyzor O.O Scarily enough, I know you're only _slightly_ joking. :|
It’s been 10 years. 10 YEARS and it’s still one of the most moving movie scenes Disney has ever created
"It has been torture. Trapped in this single form. Cut off from the sea. From all that i love. From you"
Ohhhh Calypso.....what a deserving twist of irony for you.....
Ten years, I devoted to the duty you charged me.
Ten years, I looked after those who died at sea, and finally,

Awww. I'm so sorry about that. :(
or in davys case ....OUT of his chest ;|

The only thing that can truly destroy a man, a women he loves abondoning him
Calypso had no reason not to meet Jones after the ten first years unless she played him for her own sadistic reasons. She scammed him by making him sacrifice 10 years of his life in hardwork and loneliness for nothing. Thats overly cruel even for though love and Jones still loves her. Poor guy lmao.
Dieties, angels, demons do love screwing over mortals.
She's so gorgeous.
I love how Davy Jones starts his locket the moment Tia stops hers, and he lets his music play while he speaks until shutting it when he gets serious. That whole moment is amazingly creepy and tragic.
I've always credited Nighy, his performance as Jones was phenomenal.
Ten years, I devoted to the duty you charged me.
Ten years, I looked after those who died at sea, and finally,
when we could be together again, you weren't there.
Why Weren't You There?"
I love how she gives a little smile when he says "my heart will always belong to you."
When Davy Jones said: "My heart will always belong to you." It seemed Tia Dalma/Calypso became a bit happier. (Please get back together for all eternities!)
The way Bill Nighy delivers that line! In such an understated manner - Perfection!
I did this rant on another video too but seriously Davy Jones is an amazing character.
RANT TIME
What makes a good villain is their backstory, the part that no one knows about but explains why the character does what he/she does or turned "evil".
Thank you. This is one of the most touching and piognant love scenes ever filmed. I love it.

I like how the music boxes sound out of tune, Davy Jones' being rougher sounding and Calypso's being at a higher pitch. The music boxes must play together to make it "in-tune". Love that they did that
Calyspo: "And what of your fate, Davy Jones?"
Jones: "My heart will always belong to you."
Oh my god, I cried when I watched this scene. You have to give Bill Nighty some credit, to be able to play a character such as Davy Jones with such emotion it's enough to make you cry when you hear him say his best line.
Davy Jones is one of the best yet underrated villains in Disney. Still mah best villain in PotC
davy jones look much better as a human
Well, that is a nice thing to say for the actor.
people no what i mean
I get goosebumps whenever he says Calypso in that low whisper. Sad but sexy.

there.
I don't
THANK YOU SOMEBODY ELSE NOTICES THAT EXTRA FUCKING NOTE!!!

Well actually theres 2 lockets Davy Jones locket and Calypsos locket, two different tunes
Just as sad as Mr. Freeze.
DarthWill3 except Nora Fries was loyal and loved Victor, and Davy Jones is more like how freeze is when Nora is gone forever....or he's just a head in a jar.But yes...tragic.
It's true
his heart will always belong to you ..
Wonderful scene. Watching this in the theater was amazing. When it reached that moment at 2:04, multiple people (myself included) went "Holy shit."
10 Years.... 10 years I waited, everyday dreaming of her... But when I went to see her, she wasn't there! 10 Years before the mast... Yet not the feeling of her warm hand on my face, nothing but the chilling spray of the sea... Damn her... 10 Years...
You can see when davy Jones said my heart will always belong to you it looks like calypso is remembering the same thing he said before he left and it seems she was about to cry
is it weird that this is the only scene from the movie i remember?
It's not weird. This is the best and most beautiful scene of all the movies.
I love this movie
Tia Dalma & Davy Jones Aw!
what I love is that he didn't have a heart but even tho he didn't he still did have a heart it's weird
My favorite villain in pirates of the Caribbean is Davy Jones
my heart will always belong to you line made me cry he said it PERFECT
I love this scene!
Me too! X)
they r so in love with the each other even if they don't admit it they so!
Much better love story than 'Twilight'
Her whole work screams: "My marriage is failing, I am sexually frustrated and I wrote it down."
Stephenie Meyer is the main character of the Twilight saga and is in love with her own creation to an unhealthy degree. Even Robert Pattinson said it on an interview.
The way Jones says that "my heart will always belong to you" has to be one of the most romantic things I've ever heard
