The only thing I do not like about the Indian Scout is the way the handlebars come back to meet the rider. It's feels like a garden tiller. I would have to raise the handlebars up to eliminate that feeling but then they would be like mini ape hangers and I don't like that either. I guess I would have to spend some money and buy a different style bar. As far as your complaint about the loud pipes, they are after market pipes. I personally like a quiet bike and I always leave the stock exhaust on my bikes. I've owned 16 motorcycles since 1967 and three of them were Harleys. But I always leave the stock pipes on them. One of the best sounding bikes to me is a BMW. The only thing you hear with a BMW is the whine from the transmission. Maybe I ought to try a ZERO all electric bike.
I wish you guys would try a variety of metric cruisers. I saw a M109R at a dealership a while ago and it looks like a monster but it also looks like a cruiser a person could go out for a day and put a lot of miles on.
You should have spent the money tires instead of loud pipes which aren't really needed when you already have 100 HP. Good tires make all the difference in the world in how a Scout handles.
"When the music is too loud you are too old" The same is true with motorcycles! I would think there is somebody that makes extremely quite pipes for a old people that ride Goldwings. Maybe you should try something electric???
I own a scout they are built like tanks. I have taken mine and done off roading it did not skip a beat or any damage. yes factory tyres are shit they need to go before the bike comes home
I think the Scout is a great bike. I think it’s one of the better cruisers. It’s just not my thing when it comes to cruisers. Might be better for a sport bike guy that wants a cruiser. That wants a lighter, top end happy bike. I’d rather a Chief or almost any Softail. I just want a lot of low end tq and highway comfort because Idc about who has the faster cruiser. If I wanted to go fast I’d get a touring adv bike. Because I’m not built for naked sport bikes. I also never seen a sport bike I’d want to ride for more than a half hour before needing my back realigned
There is no comparison.. The Scout still stomps it. There are vids on RUclips of Scouts dragging against MT07s, MT09s, and Gixxers and holding their own until about 80ish.
I have a 2015 Scout and it’s awesome,I’ve had every kind of bike and I’d say it’s like a Swiss Army knife you can make it be a lot of things. I’m 5’11 230 and I think it’s fine. It’s light and it’s fast. Huge compliment getter wherever I go. I guess it depends on where you are in your motorcycle journey if this is for you. Whoever wins this change the pipes 🙉
While helping with RUclips algorithm I also want to say you CAN live with one every day 😉👍 Love mine so much I use it for work too but I work within 10 miles from my house so all is good (uk proud Indian scout sixty owner]
The size thing is interesting: my Scout is bigger than my mate's 1340 Evo hardtail chop and nobody calls that bike small... The Scout is almost the same wheelbase and wheel size as the new Chief; is that bike 'small'? The Scout is built low - especially the tank & headlight. The standard 'bars and big indicators can make the front end look a bit weedy in my opinion. The cylinder angle & height allows for a smaller tank-line and headstock than Harleys or the new Chief, but wheelbase and even wheel size is similar. Mine has lower, wider bars and that does restore something of the big bike feel and look - and I'm 6'3" and 220 lbs. I prefer the standard Scout over the Bobber. It has more rear suspension travel and I dig the classic rear fender look - but opinions will vary. I tried out the Fat Bob and even a Fat Boy last year and kept the Scout as it outperformed both; it's more maneuverable and has a broader spread of torque across a wider rev range - it really revs out and should be compared to the H-D soft-tails a bit more than just the unimaginative and obligatory Scout:Sportster comparisons. Great video as ever - someone's gonna be very happy to win that Scout! 😎
Spite...i can relate to being a bear on a small bike...but i that was me being on a groom...XD But as one or two people have mentioned this is more a yami fast boi bike (well the engine atleast) then a traditional cruiser bike. Oh and here in Australia we have the great ocean road...my 2014 xl1200c had a ball, even with no second gear (self inflicted damage due to rider roughness) and had the heels of my boots scrap the road... Also cruisers are made as they are because the factory knows the rider will mod/adjust to each personal taste... Also the 1275 hd mod...get a good custom tune with the stage 1 setup on the 1200 and you make almost identical grunt...
I honestly find the chrome on the scout refreshing, blacked out bikes have become so overdone, particularly on cruisers where everyone wants to cosplay as jax teller.
Forget about the f***king cruisers. Spite, you should try a European naked. I have tried almost everything on the market, my friend was sales manager on Swedens largest dealer, and he wanted my opinion on their bikes for sale. My favorite bike ,all time, is the Moto Morini Corsaro 1200 Veloce. 1200 cc 87 degrees V-twin with 150 hps and a 125 Nm of torque. Over 100 of both at 4500 RPM and 200 kg wet! Only a smoth wave, no vibes! Almost as fast as a liter bike and you could cruise and enjoy the torque at low speeds. Fuelling is bad but easy to fix via Tune-ECU and some dyno-time! Best bike ever?
My european 2016 scout does not need clutch to start, and here all of these are ABS models, and yes, original tires are reported to be extremely slippery on wet
Hi person's I've watched most of your videos but I have bit of a problem the wife likes to pillion what bikes do you recommend for two up riding that's not a cruiser and not below a 600 Thanks
Ditto. And you can start it in gear with the clutch pulled in. My 2017 Sixty has a very mellow exhaust.I don't care for the look of the mufflers, but I would not call them loud by any stretch.
The only reason I didn't get a scout is because I'm a trucker and carry a week's worth of stuff back and forth to work so the tour bike is better for my everyday ride. I know it wasn't available when you made these scout videos but I'd like to see you check out the Rogue.
Good to know it soaks up the bumps! I heard from another Scout rider, it gets uncomfortable after 45 minutes of riding. Is this the newest 2021 version? What suspension travel does this bike have in the front and rear? Good point about the bike having a lot of power that you can loose control of the rear tire. There should be traction control and other electronics to make the bike safer to ride.
I don't know if it's just mine but my scout is parked outside and will not start if it gets below 45 degrees at night. The cold start performance of this bike is so bad. I've tried a bigger battery with 300 cca and nothing has helped. Just throwing this out so people are aware of it.
Got the Rineharts, wrapped the inner baffle with extra fiberglass packing, still hella loud. Would have gotten the Indian slipons, but they wanted $300 more than every other set of pipes.
Change the seat first, not the pipes. The seat looks like it’s already been changed on this scout. The stock seat is so awful I almost returned the bike thinking there was no way to make this comfortable. Thank god I did a lot of YouTubing and that was not the case at all. Between the seat, front cartridge fork upgrades, rear shock upgrades, the bike is not the same. It’s a monster.
My Speed Triple has to be both in neutral and clutch pulled in to start. So the big problems here are the exhaust makes sound and the motor gets warm. Are you kidding me?? The only legitimate gripe I heard is the lack of steering lock which is on pretty much everything.

@@Sizukun1 too bad. Their demo events are an all-day thing, and you can ride every bike they have to offer. Very cool in my experience. Take a buddy and make it a road trip. 😉
So got to try an Octane Spike, not Diavel quick but def more gnarly than Scout, shorter gearing, more redline, more torque, leans in well and better tyre/suspension set up..... no chrome! Next giveaway bike?
If you're a really short rider (under 5'4") you're gonna need to get after market mid controls Because for whatever reason they don't offer them factor.
Keep in mind the engine is probably running hot because it is still new? I’m assuming it is new at least. It’s only got like a 10-and-some-change to one compression ratio so it shouldn’t be that hot.
Headlight, seat, exhaust/pipes, rear suspension. All definitely need to be upgraded by whoever will choose to keep this "almost perfect" bike. I would also say the tachometer is disgusting to look at and if it can be changed.. but it is functional so it is not a need so much as a want.
Scout start at 11.5K USD, not 9! So good looks and good engine. Bad tires, suspension, seating position and handling. Verdict - best cruiser ????? No way
The absence of a lock on the bars isnt cool, extra loud bikes are annoying, the strength of the superior engine is a dangerous flaw when paired with other inferior parts. The final straw was the fact that the frame is made of aluminum.
I wish they would take the flat track replica and do it in a more standard motorcycle naked bike commuter bike style if that makes any sense. I really can't deal with the Ford control seating position. I need more of a standard or a sport tour position.
@@markchalloner5883 Yea but that latter part sucks, I wish the MSF would quit preaching about seat height. Its a disservice to newbies. Dude! It would be soo much better if you had the factory mufflers and the extended reach seat.
Screw the factory pipes. The worst thing about an awesome bike.
The factory exhaust suck and make it sound like a moped lol
9:00 over here that would just be considered heated seats
Search for Brandon Bicasso on RUclips. He owned an M109R and Scout and did some comparison videos about them.
You should have spent the money tires instead of loud pipes which aren't really needed when you already have 100 HP. Good tires make all the difference in the world in how a Scout handles.
My scout starts in neutral without the clutch
Perhaps the Scout's closest competition is the Triumph Speed Twin, not any current HD.
Y’all shoulda lined up the big bore Harley sportster with the Indian and done a comparison then
There is no comparison..
What did the stock exhaust sound like?
Nice review! Can you guys do a review of Spites "skin" knee armor when you have time? Looks high tech.
I'm not a bagger fan, but the new chief has some appeal.
While helping with RUclips algorithm I also want to say you CAN live with one every day 😉👍
Love mine so much I use it for work too but I work within 10 miles from my house so all is good (uk proud Indian scout sixty owner]
Am I the only one that basically skips to the ends on the cruiser videos😂
I love this guys voice
Spite...i can relate to being a bear on a small bike...but i that was me being on a groom...XD
But as one or two people have mentioned this is more a yami fast boi bike (well the engine atleast) then a traditional cruiser bike.
Beautiful Scout!
I’m looking for a first-bike and being 6’04” it’s not easy to find one that “fits”.
Mods:
1. Turbo, always add a turbo
Yeah it won't change your mind till you pass all those air cool cruisers like their chain to the guardrail.
My 1982 Magna also has to be in neutral and the clutch in to start, but it starts pretty quick.
Are you guys going to try the Scout Rogue? I think it addresses a lot of the issues you guys not!
the weird start up sequence is so that you don't need the bike lock
I honestly find the chrome on the scout refreshing, blacked out bikes have become so overdone, particularly on cruisers where everyone wants to cosplay as jax teller.
I agree, it breaks my heart to see a bike with little to no chrome. Where are all the old bikers with their chrome stallions when you need them?
Rokform is an image stabilizer killer
I personally love ridiculously loud exhaust. And it probably will be a scout bobber just curious what kind of slip on is it?
Spite mentions it in the vid but they are Vance & Hines slip ons.
That “only starting neutral” really sucks if you stall at a light. Can’t just pull the clutch, push starter button and go.
I have a 2021 Scout and it starts in any gear with the clutch pulled in.
My 2020 Bobber starts in any gear..don't know what he was talking about there
My 2017 starts in any gear as well.
2021 Scout here, starts in any gear!
Yeah his statement is incorrect. Clutch only required on all scouts.
Hi person's I've watched most of your videos but I have bit of a problem the wife likes to pillion what bikes do you recommend for two up riding that's not a cruiser and not below a 600
Thanks
my 60 you dont have to pull clutch in to start
Ditto. And you can start it in gear with the clutch pulled in. My 2017 Sixty has a very mellow exhaust.I don't care for the look of the mufflers, but I would not call them loud by any stretch.
9k? In my country a scout bobber ganna cost 30k from a dealership
And I’m getting one tomorrow
I’m so exciting
What country?
@@tadeuszbanku2329 Taiwan 🇹🇼
@@林子堯-e4n nice😎 hope y'all are doing a okay In Taiwan💪 don't got one of these bikes yet but I'd sure love to.
Thx
The only reason I didn't get a scout is because I'm a trucker and carry a week's worth of stuff back and forth to work so the tour bike is better for my everyday ride. I know it wasn't available when you made these scout videos but I'd like to see you check out the Rogue.
I want the magic school bus in front instead of the bike.
I also have that problem on colder days. Have to get a jump if I ride into work on a cold day. Also, keep it on a battery tender at
Yes, you can. Factory exhausts are best. Those are vans and hines - they are built to be loud. Bassanni/ Rinehart are better tbh and have good tone.
Bassani tone is
Got the Rineharts, wrapped the inner baffle with extra fiberglass packing, still hella loud. Would have gotten the Indian slipons, but they wanted $300 more than every other set of pipes.
Got Rush Warhorse pipes for the look. Too loud, may rewrap them.
Can you tell me which tires are on the US model of yours?
Greetings.
My Scout came with Pirelli Night Dragons.
@@elevationmoto6208 yes mine too and i think they are fine.
just here to push yammie
My Speed Triple has to be both in neutral and clutch pulled in to start. So the big problems here are the exhaust makes sound and the motor gets warm. Are you kidding me?? The only legitimate gripe I heard is the lack of steering lock which is on pretty much everything.
Hello Yammie, i need help. I own and ride a ktm rc 125. I'v been ride for about 2-3 years now and been looking for second bike, what do you recommend as the next cc after the 125 ? Iv been looking at the duke 390 but all i hear is how good of a first bike it is but im looking for a second bike now first bike again. PLEASE HELP. Iv been watching you for about 3 years now and thanks to you i got into this life style but in all you videos you have never mentioned whats a good bike after the 125cc. IM IN NEED OF DESPERATE HELP, PLEASE!!!
I have a scout. Those are Vance and Hines slip on pipes. Pay the $140 and get the quiet baffles. Makes it tolerable and adds back in a ton of low end power
when yam turbos the busa i beg you PLEASE take it to the drag strip and not pamper it
2:50 i do that i and i own a guzzi :0 i didnt know that was weird lol
I've kinda wanted a cruiser, wish my local Indian dealer did some kind of demo days. Never ridden a cruiser, and it felt awkward just sitting on one.
If you check Indian’s website they have a nationwide demo day schedule. There might be an event within striking distance to you. 🤷♂️
@@DMVSoloRider Didn't know that existed, but unfortunately the closest one to me is a 10 hour drive away.
@@Sizukun1 too bad. Their demo events are an all-day thing, and you can ride every bike they have to offer. Very cool in my experience. Take a buddy and make it a road trip. 😉
Make an episode about the Suzuki katanas!! Please! Lol
I wonder what they'd think about a Triumph Speedmaster
So got to try an Octane Spike, not Diavel quick but def more gnarly than Scout, shorter gearing, more redline, more torque, leans in well and better tyre/suspension set up..... no chrome! Next giveaway bike?
If you're a really short rider (under 5'4") you're gonna need to get after market mid controls Because for whatever reason they don't offer them factor.
Can you feel the bugs hit your knee?
Keep in mind the engine is probably running hot because it is still new? I’m assuming it is new at least. It’s only got like a 10-and-some-change to one compression ratio so it shouldn’t be that hot.
mate, I disagree with the rubber part.
In europe they come with Pirelli night dragons and god bless that shit is sticky af
Harley is making a new vrod with the revolution motor from the pan am but a higher state of tune. 170hp at the crank. Due in 2024.
Where did you see this?? Vrod is my dream bike and was bummed it was discontinued.
Latus harley in Gladstone oregon.
If you’re in neutral you don’t have to have the clutch pulled.
I couldn't. Probably not one day.
No way
2021 and no fork lock. WTAF?
The factory mufflers would be so much better.
How many miles are on this one? Is there a real break in period to worry about before going higher speeds for a scout?
Stay below 5k rpm for 500 miles I believe...?
It does get hot on the right inner thigh at a stop light in South Cali, 119 Degree weather but meh one flaw.
More should sub so we get the legendary turbo busa
My gsxr is the same way with using the clutch to start
The absence of a lock on the bars isnt cool, extra loud bikes are annoying, the strength of the superior engine is a dangerous flaw when paired with other inferior parts. The final straw was the fact that the frame is made of aluminum.
I wish they would take the flat track replica and do it in a more standard motorcycle naked bike commuter bike style if that makes any sense. I really can't deal with the Ford control seating position. I need more of a standard or a sport tour position.
The revised '21 FTR has what you want, 17 inch wheels, revised geo, and shorter travel suspension so shorter riders can flat foot the bike.
@@markchalloner5883 Yea but that latter part sucks, I wish the MSF would quit preaching about seat height. Its a disservice to newbies. And the OEMS are going to compromise all their designs to make this false appeal. MSF NEEDS to teach left foot down. Inseam doesn't matter nor does set height (accounting for dirt and ADV) I grant that IF you are shortish or you bike is tall you will have a little extra training burden on you.
What would you recommend for a first sport bike, for someone who has been riding cruisers?
everything :x one piece of advice is "if you dont want to much "punch" just change gear earlier for god sake !" .low end torq dont kill you but peak power can rememeber this advice and you can ride everything you want if you know that all what particular bike have is at peak power rpm so on typical 1000cc sports at like 13 k rpm around at 5 k rpm no you dont have so much power and you be "safe " ;) if you afraid to much power and that you turn it on in bad suituation than you can limited power be simple limited throtkle opening be some simple screw at throtle cable be 1 baks and probably some fairing removed when instal this sh,t :x when you do this your bmw s1000rr from 200 bhp can have whatever you want from 1 to 200 bhp and everything beewten this ;) .simple as that .beside new sports bike have ususale 2-3 diffrent map some reduce power be alot etc watch tech spec :x also in new sport bike you have alot electronique which help you dont put to much power in corner for egzample and loose grip or at to low velocuity which lead to to much wheeeli and risk of flip over etc .so yea if we now know this stufff you can have bmw s1000rr 200 bhp beast which can accelerate from 100 to 200 km/h in 3,8 sec with 90 kg driver in aerodynamic kombi or ktm rc390 with 44 bhp which cant achieve 170 km/h and after 3,8 sec from 100 km/h achieve only like 130 km/h :x .
No, scout never helps out with the dishes or cooks
