    If my Grandfather was still alive I would have loved to have shown him this video.
    He served in WW2 and with his pay bought a 1940 Indian Chief. Drove it from Massachusetts to Indiana in November after he was decommissioned. Had to stop and buy potato sacks and stuff them with hay to keep the ice off his legs. I hope whoever gets this bike or any body that has a Indian loves the ride as much as my Grandpa

    • @bobbybeyer2127
      @bobbybeyer2127 3 года назад +1

      @@dalekidd420 You're forgetting that the 883 Sportster has much more aggressive gearing than the scout. Harley gives the 883's lower gear ratios than the 1200's so the acceleration gap doesn't feel as large.
      Also, I don't know what you guys are talking about when you say the Sportster will be down on power. It has more power than the Scout at the tire. Go look at the dyno graphs on the Hammer Performance website. Builds similar to the one Yammie and Spite did make 100-110HP AT THE WHEEL. Now go look at a dyno graph for the Scout. It makes around 85HP at the wheel.
      The Sportster would win a race between them. I'm willing to bet anyone.

    I wasn't comfortable after an hour of riding, so in the end I went for a Harley Sport Glide. It was more comfortable, had a better finish, felt a bit quicker and by the time I added all of the parts and accessories I wanted to the Indian, it was the same price as the Harley, which already had all of those accessories.
    It is a nice bike though, has a nice sound from the stock exhaust too. Definitely worth a look.

      I say, buy what makes you happy after all, it's your money! Every one has different needs, wants and expectations of their bike(s). I've got a honda and a harley and I enjoy them both. I'm a fairly new rider of my own bike but I've been married to an old schooled biker for 20 plus years. He likes all kinds of bikes too but generally rides one of his Harleys. They are great bikes. It seems some folks just love to hate on Harley's. I get that everyone has an opinion but it's just that, their opinion. Personally, I'd research the different bikes that I like and I'd buy whichever one that I wanted. I could care less what people think about me or my personal motorcycle choices, I'm too to old for that, anymore.
      I would recommend you buy a motorcycle and ride it all that you can. My only regret is that I waited til I was 45 to start. I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid. Just do it, man! 👍😊

I have not owned a bike since a few years after college when I sold my '97 ZX9R about 20 years ago in an effort to pursue a more responsible and boring life. Now I must be in mid life crisis mode cause I'm thinking of getting another bike but torn between this classic more mature guy bike vs. a more fun naked sport that is closer to what I remember riding. I need to try both out I guess. Anyway I'm enjoying this channel to catch up on what I've been missing out on the last 2 decades so thanks for the videos.
