      @@Alex_Kozora I just got to typing when I saw the topic. The Steelers never had RB1 and Dri on the field at the same. All passes were screens because he couldn’t pick up the blitz.

      Perfectly stated! The Steelers offense was so predictable. Whenever Dri got into the game, I knew he was getting the ball. Dri wasn't the problem, it was the Steelers offensive creativity...or lack thereof. 🙄

      Yes it was. He sucked. I remember people typing “handcuff Archer to the goal post” when he was running KOs from the back of the end zone & getting tackled at the 14.
      He NEVER should’ve made the 53, EVER.

      Calvin is already off to a worse start than Dri by missing his entire rookie season and still not being 100% going into year 2. Plus with allen robinson in the mix, kenny’s synergy with gunner, and 4 TEs fighting for playing time, there won’t be very many reps available for him to say the least. Austin still has a chance to earn them but as it stands right now the odds are stacked against him pretty steeply

    I think you gotta put some of this on the coaching staff. When you have a unique generational talent (speed in this case), you have to get creative and find ways to use him. Making him the obvious target of every play he's in isn't helping. I find that the steelers coaching often puts people in difficult positions to perform. Juju seemed to be a victim of that. McFarland probably too. A great coaching staff would make it work. Canada is obviously not the guy for CA3

    I'll never forget watching Dri during the preseason game against the Giants. He had 1 good play off of a screen pass that should've been bigger but he didn't know how to use his speed. Next thing I know he's doing an interview in the locker room saying (paraphrasing) he knows he can play on the league now. I literally, that second, turned over to my homeboy and said "he ain't gone make it. He thinks he did something and he just got cocky about it"

      That combine is worthless... Other than hyping Draft day... I think its only reason its kept. I noticed that post combine... my perspective was changed on #2 players (Calijah Kancey & AA Adetomiwa Adebawore). The insane speed for big lineman. & highlight real I see Kancey pushing #2 linemen back into end zone 5 yards.. #2 guys as big as him attempting to double team him.

    Has he brought up Devin Bush? Does not matter about the injury it was in 2021. Guys recover did not Joe Burrow have the same injury.
    This guy was getting destroyed at the line of scrimmage cause of his Size. Could not cover larger tight ends. Once again because of his size.
    Who were the geniuses. That picked this guy? A strong safety would have been a better position. Than trying to take on. Large lineman and tight ends. Hopefully that will end this year.

    @bretth5070 Год назад

    I never understood the philosophy of drafting these diminutive guys for the purposes of "getting them in space." The Steelers should have certainly known before wasting a 3rd round pick on Archer, as they had previously used a 6th round pick on Chris Rainey to be used in a similar role. Furthermore, the Rainey experiment seemed to have been the plan of Todd Haley, the then OC of the Steelers, who already had tried this same philosophy with Dexter McCluster. which again was not a success. Usually, these small players are injury prone, but even if that is not the case, they just can't compete against much larger guys. They all inevitably fail in the NFL simply because of their lack of size. Beside McCluster, Rainey, and Archer, there was Senquez Golson, who the Steelers tried at CB, and he had nothing but injuries in the NFL. The Dolphins even tried Pat White at QB and if I remember correctly, he got a concussion in preseason and this was the beginning of the end, as there was no way his body could handle the NFL. The only undersized player I can think of who had any success in the NFL was DeSean Jackson.

    "They say speed kills..." Dwight "Hands of" Stone has proved that myth wrong since 1987. He had a 4.20 in the 40.
    Edit: Which begs the question; what is a bigger bust, a guy who washed out in two years that produced nothing or a guy who was carried on a team for eight years (14 total NFL seasons) shuffled around from rb-wr-kr-pr and produced nothing?

    What happened to Archer is basically what happened to Bryant. They both were on a team where the QB (Big Ben) & the OC (Todd Haley) were butting heads. The OC couldn't create plays that would involve more of neither Archer nor Bryant, but man times we didn't know if Haley was the OC or BR#7. Big Ben got caught up in the "Killer B's" hype and it became all about Ben, Bell, & Brown...everybody else were fighting for scraps. So basically the Steelers got Archer at the wrong time...HOWEVER...we get a "Do-Over" this year with Calvin Austin III. How will we utilize CAIII while also involving Najee, Dionte, & George. The media is already creating buzz with the "Pickett-to-Pickens" phrase, so we need to be careful about buying into the media hype. Bryant, despite his personal challenges, should have been a top 5 WR. If Dre Archer played for Andy Reid or with Tom Brady, his story would be different. If we are not careful, we could find CAIII on a KC Chiefs or Bills roster.
