Original vetiver is in my opinion the most underrated creed fragrance. I too overlooked it for over a decade always dismissing it due to it’s prickly opening until i came across a sample and thought why not give it a test drive for a day. I was blown away, you HAVE to give this at least 20 minutes to settle down and when it does it dries down to this perfectly well balanced clean soapy spicy smooth vetiver, absolute perfection! GIT will always be my favorite but this beats every other creed offering hands down. I have no longevity issues with it at all and feel blessed to have it in my collection.
If you like this one but want better performance and want something even spicier and more masculine get Creed Bois du Portugal. I prefer the scent of OV, it's more elegant, timeless, and beautiful but poor perfomance. One way I get better performance out of this one is to spray a layer of Iso E Super first. Recommended.
Everyone's skin is different. I get great performance on all their fragrances but OV to me just smells like 3$ soap for 300$. Also, Creed boxes are cheap for the price, which is why it isn't my fav niche house.
They aren't even that expensive for a niche brand. You get 2 times more juice than in Tom Ford's fragrances (for the same price!). Also, since October 2022, Blackrock returned metal caps (instead of the plastic ones) and brought back a transparent logo which is aesthetically a big quality of life improvement.
I live in cold Norway, and up here the fragrance doesnt last more than 20 minutes. BUT when I was on vacation in heat-wave France last summer, It lasted for many hours. So had I lived in a hot climate, I would have gotten a bottle and worn it all the time. I can smell a grassy vetiver-ish thing in there, and I dont mind the vetiver being subtle.
Obviously doesn't matter where you live, because we all have heating/aircon inside buildings/homes 😅 So all spending most time around the 20c mark. But, projection and longevity are terrible with this fragrance for me...
On me I get a clean and fresh smell with a lot of iris, fresh citrus and grassy vetiver. I wear it in summer, but even wearing it today got me good longevity.
They’re downright offensive. Especially since it’s been so watered down. I don’t care what their reps say my 2017 Aventus is a totally richer denser and much more fantastic fragrance than my 2020 bottle.
Aaron thank you for your very insightful and enjoyable content. I would be very interested in hearing your opinion on Dior Fahrenhet Le Parfum. Hope you will give it a try.
I love Original Vetiver, especially during the warmer months. Performance on my skin is very goods, unlike a few others from this brand and elsewhere. Thanks for the review and happy new year! 🌟✨🎉🎷
You have a good vibe brother - you obviously know your frags, but you have a good energy and your videos are really watchable. Wish you the best with your channel and your product line.
Aaron or anyone, can you recommend one of your fragrances that has the vibe of Green Irish Tweed? Not scent per say, but vibe. Mature(40+), masculine, not so sweet, can be used as a signature…
I love vetiver, in all its forms. I've looked at this but already have Guerlain Vetiver and Tom Fords Grey Vetiver so didn't think I need it. Thank you for your thoughts. Re the house of Creed, I only have the 1 fragrance. Tabarome Millesime, bought in 2018 and its performance and longevity is huge. From start to finish. Still a strong skin scent the next day. Lasts days on clothing. But after reading so often of batch differences, formulation changes, weaker performances, I've been reluctant to purchase more, especially at their price. It's a shame such a long standing house sees the need to tinker with products.
I think its performance depends on batches and skins. I had at least 5 bottles (all batches from 2016 to 2019) and I had no issue with them. More than 8 hours of longevity easily
I know you were not so keen on Nishane Sultan Vetiver but for me that fragrance was the perfect Vetiver experience so for me. For a fragrance house that won’t name perfumers, it just smells of marketing and fermeniche, I nearly bought a bottle of GIT but after trying it, I could not smell it after 3 hrs
Really like the scent of this fragrance. It’s like a fizzy green champagne, so natural smelling. Performance is pathetic though. Wish I could somehow make this fragrance myself
I fully agree with this. Almost zero projection! Smelt it in store, loved it, smelt really clean and soapy, it last 2 full days on the tester strip too.. So bought the 100ml bottle. Finding nobody can smell it. Wearing it for 2 days now, spraying twice each side of neck and between elbows..(total 6 sprays) I work close proximity too. Suppose it would be great if you work in Japan though or something. They love subtle scents, and it's an insult to project a smell over there.... Lol
This fragrance is a nailed on classic. It long been the most beautiful fragrance I’ve smelled. OV is a very natural, organic clean greenness. It’s a sophisticated, understated, scent of clean refreshing grass with lemon and ginger twist and a divine floral note to it at the centre. I love Aarons work. I have Slut, Jasmine N, Blood orange, cherry, and high voltage, but these works are more like bright coloured Lamborghinis. Creeds works, particularly OV, are understated, refined, sophisticated scents. More like dark blue Ferrari or Aston Martins.
I got this (Original Vetiver) back in 2007, and while it wasn’t exactly a nuclear bomb, it did stick around, lingering in the air for a good 6-8 hours on my skin. Newer bottles are like a fart in the wind, which is a shame especially for the price.
This is kind of in a similar vein, but would you be able to track down and review Vetiver by Creed? This is the edition is claimed - if the Creed mythology is to be believed -- to have come out in the 1940's, and was a favorite of John F. Kennedy. Historical fragrances fascinate me, and I think that would be quite the video to watch. 🙂
@@ManicMindTrick well, ATH has stated he intends to get a sample or bottle from each batch of Aventus to compare scent notes and makeup so he can answer the question of "has Aventus been reformulated," so I imagine getting his hands on a bottle of Vetiver would be cheap by comparison.
10 to 15 minutes..... its more like 10 to 15 hours for me but its quite light and airy in the air, and stays that way for much longer than you'd expect.
Hi ATH, i do not remember it being any stronger than this. My father used to have it in the late 2000th. I do not find it as a vetiver fragrance at all, more as a fougere. Great smelling fragrance but not something i would pay this money for.

It's a great scent but lasts about an hour on my skin. You should try Thierry Muglers Cologne . I think it's been renamed to All Together Now. Very similar smell, at a fraction of the price, and lasts much longer. Creed who?
That’s insane, especially in comparison to older batches. I own a 2016 and it’s literally a 2 sprayer or else people around me are complaining. And on skin it’s there all day, even if it’s just faint whiffs of its cleanliness
Here is the thing about OV; you are not going to get a lot of compliments on it if you are going attention in passing. The weak projection just smells like you are extremely well bathed. If you are going to be up close and personal kissing, hugging, and more, then this is where the scent is a winner. It is an intoxicating scent, that will linger when transfered to another person's clothes or bedsheets😅
Love your reviews but like you say £180 for a vetiver fragrance firstly it should smell off vetiver and for a good 7 + hrs. This company and all its history it says it has are really having people's eyes 👀 out.
Not worth it at all, especially with the prices people are charging for it nowadays since it’s out of stock everywhere. It’s not bad, but it’s not the best oud fragrance I’ve ever smelled. Look for an oud heavy fragrance from aaron because his last longer, project more, and smell better.

After strong rumours circulated earlier this year that Mugler Cologne was discontinued I looked for Creed's Original Vetiver. Its drydown both on paper and on my skin smells to me soapy, but in fact like a cheap soap. Reminds me of plain blue bar laundry soap, quite rough actually. To my nose nowhere near as pleasant as Mugler Cologne. Also, no vetiver in sight for me, the name of the fragrance makes no sense at all. "Original Bar Soap" would've been more on point. Happy 2023!

I wanted to get a few from this house but everyone I ask says that since they’ve been sold to some company (I can’t remember the name) it’s gone downhill … and those prices certainly kept me away for a long time already
Sadly, it was going downhill even before that. The buyout is just speeding up the decline is all. If you're interested in the scents though, the clones have come a loooong way. I actually sold a couple of my Creed fragrances (VIW and MI) and didn't want to pay a fortune for an older bottle of SMW. I replaced MI with Armaf's Milestone, replaced SMW with their Sillage fragrance, and bought Malibu - Party In The Bay by Simone Andreoli (high price for a clone but I love the smell) as it's an amazing VIW with good performance. Which Creeds are you interested in? Maybe I can recommend good alternatives.
I recognize that people are salty about the fake history of Creed and their high prices. Those complaints are understandable, but I have a very hard time understanding how people claim to only get an hour of performance from this fragrance. With 4 sprays to the torso, I'm still catching whiffs 8 hours later on skin and can smell it on my shirt the next day. You folks must be going noseblind, because skin chemistry can really only explain so much. If you want an obnoxious, loud fragrance then you'd best look elsewhere. That's not what this scent profile is about. There are plenty of foul ouds and diabetes-inducing saccharine frags out there with which you can assault the senses of your fellow man for the sake of trying to draw attention to yourself.
This is why dupe houses make money. People want the smell of perfumes like this but wont pay the price for poor projection and Longevity. Especially when the Dupes do it better

Especially when the Dupes do it better
so many better vetiver options available. and this isn't even original.
Happy New Years Bro💯

DIOR VETIVER IS THE BEST ❤
Good on your for the professionalism Aaron but this fragrance is an absurd joke imo.
