Doc, You gotta delve into more daring vetivers my friend if you like the note. 1. Mon Vetiver by Essential Parfums is a hidden gem and greatest value ever (niche perfume $75 for 100ml). 2. Sultan Vetiver by Nishane is the most luxurious and juicy vetiver- Slayer of many high end vetivers 3. Vetiver Insolent by Miller Harris is an unbelievable vetiver with a hint of sweetness 4. Vetiver Royal Borbon by Oriza Legrand (boozy vetiver) 5. Bond-T by Sammarco (vetiver with dark chocolate) 6. Fumidus by Profvumvm Roma (most somber vetiver, melancholic with booze and smoke)- Wear if you dare Spread the Fragrant Love
I’m on a Vetiver search and just tried Frederic Malle’s Vetiver Extraordinaire, Armani’s Vetiver L’hiver, Roja’s Vetiver Cologne, and Thom Brown’s Vetiver Absolut and Vetiver Cucumber. Of these Roja’s Vetiver is my number 1. Before I pull the trigger I want to try Hermès’ Terre Vetiver and Nishane’s Sultan Vetiver. Thanks for the suggestions.
Did someone say vetiver!? You have to try out Mancera's Kumkat Wood one of smoothest Vetiver scents IMO. Another hidden gem is Franck Olivier's Black Touch surprisingly good. The opening smells a little synthetic but after 2 minutes it turns into a dark mysterious creamy vetiver. It smells like a blend of Encre Noire and Terre D' Hermes. It's only $20 BTW. Great content 👍🏽
I have been using Encre noir SPORT(edt) for several months if not for more than a year. It is an Excellent vetiver frag. with clear/fresh vetiver in top middle and dry down. For vetiver connoisseurs its a blessing in such a small price. I stopped using Creed Original Vetiver after i found the lalique encre noir SPORT.
I like your list. My top five from lightest to darkest would be--- 1. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver for the safe offend nobody scent if you have the money. (Banana Republic Linen Vetiver to save some money). 2. Guerlain Vetiver for the scent of walking in the countryside while smoking a little pipe tobacco. 3. Terre d'Hermes for a modern clean but prominent vetiver with a wonderful orange opening. (My actual favorite vetiver.) 4. Something highend (no preference yet) like Roja Vetiver, Creed Original Vetiver, or Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinare. 5. Encre Noir (original) for a darker inky dirtier take on vetiver.
Creed Original Vetiver is my favorite in terms of scent but performance is really sucks, I find myself only wear vetiver fragrances it’s my favorite note of all time, really love your channel. Very honest review and your taste is really up there..
maybe older 75/120ml bottles perform better? it really is a nice slightly rooty sweet vetiver seamlessly blended typical to creeds. grey vetiver is still one of the best choices in terms of smell, value, compliments although i cannot vouch for new formulations as TF went downhills since...
You are spot on in your description of Roja Vetiver being creamy and a bit sweet. My current favorite is also Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire, but I'm about to buy Guerlain's Vetiver to switch things up. A very masculine take on the scent is Masque Milano's 'Hemingway' which is like a combination of vetiver and sea spray/salty air.
Totally with you on Encre Noire Sport being better than Grey Vetiver-I especially appreciate the watery notes and the lack of olive bitterness. Terre d’Hermes is also a favorite of mine. But my number one is Vetiverissimo by Fzotic-so rich and nutty, yet also fresh and slightly sweet.
@@UrbanDwellerNYC It's absolutely worth getting a sample and testing it when you have the chance. Very refined and luxurious - really beautiful and multilayered! Sycomore is a sophisticated scent the quality of the juice. Encre Noire Sport - also my favorite out of the three - is much more easy going (for someone who likes Vetiver), simple (not in a bad way) and versatile. I got decants of all three Encre Noires a while ago and I finally decided to get the Sport for cooler (and maybe even regular) summer days and evenings. I really like it a lot - it´s a fantastic scent. It has the right amount of fresh, aromatic and dark. Unique DNA
chanel’s sycomore is definitely up there with roja, a class above all else, i’m yet to try vetiver extraordinaire, though, and believe these three will be my go-to vetivers
Loved your review. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with Encre Noire (Not sport) and so I'm completely biased against that brand...but your list is spot on. Tom Ford is an ABSOLUTE SHAM ...Whoever bought this house is fleecing the customers. They've raised the prices and TOTALLY decimated the product.

I haven’t tried Frederick Malle ( vetiver) yet. Glad saw this video. I own the ROJA ( vetiver) as well worth the price if numbers it’s not the problem. Creed ( vetiver) similar to ROJA dove. But ROJA it’s better in my opinion.
Try Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence - earthy, green, heavily resinous, huge huge performance, lasts till next day on cloth. It's like office-unsafe version of TDH with raw power of nature.
Tf grey vetiver smells nice but gets boring after a while like something is missing, accidentally layered it with a little of OG terre dhermes and man that made it full and interesting.
You showed the Parfum Cologne version of Roja's Vetiver, but you didn't say it, so I am wondering if you sampled the Parfum or the Parfum Cologne version? I personally like the Parfum Cologne much better.
Great video on my favourite note in perfumery. But I don't find that Terre d 'Hermes is a Vetiver based fragrance. Yes it does have Vetiver but definitely not a main player.
I've only tried and have a few Roja's and for the rep and price they don't perform that well and that aren't more complex than other niches. His most popular ones are actually almost clones of Aventus so don't know why people go gaga over the house and won't spend more on the house than I already have.
Been looking into fragrances that have vetiver & musk in the same fragrance. Specifically the type of vetiver scent that is in Teree D'Hremes. I haven't a clue what vetiver that is there is so many various vetivers with different scents to them. I have only found 2 that I really love. That being Terre D'Hermes Parfum For Men & Trump Success For Men edt cologne. Both which I absolutely love. Any further suggestions on other fragrances that have that same type of vetiver & musk in them? Thanks.
Save yourself money...ive been there and can confirm that dove vetiver (extrait) is pretty much the same as grey vetiver maybe even a bit more shy. the same smooth citric idea but 3-4 times more expensive so forget about it and dont walk into a marketing trap. roja dove in hands is also not that luxurious as from the pictures. the cap is nothing heavy, genuine, different and the box can be easily made in PCR. roja dove is to me a marketing guru whose aim was to create an illusion of something posh and you cannot sell something like this for cheap obviously. it has rules and that`s why we must deal with it accordingly. I owned 3 roja doves and sold them all which signals something and of course had a chance to sample several more. if you seek for an experience, you rather go with something like profumum roma (185-215 euro in europe) or high-end guerlains.
my problem with Guerlain Vetiver that i got no compliments at all with it. all comments i get are about thy think i apply after shave :(> still my fav is Tom Ford Grey vetiver
Absolutely right, it’s not a compliment getter I agree. It’s the kind of scent you wear for yourself in my opinion. Grey Vetiver and roja are the safest probably

I'd say for most people Terre D'Hermes is a better blend, but I wouldn't go far as to say a league of it's own. Encre Noire Sport is very nice, and just a different take. But the choice of orange in Terre, the flint accord, the cedar make it overall a more luxurious smelling mass appealing scent. Encre Noire Sport focuses a bit more on the darker aspects of vetiver while still being watery fresh.

Suggestion if I may... This is the 1st video of yours I've seen, but moving/flashing the bottles up close to the camera, and for a SPLIT SECOND, is of no value. Original Vetiver was love at first sniff for me, but over time it was a bit feminine for my taste.
If you love vetiver try Vetiver Terra EDP by Adolfo Dominquez 125ml for about $40-$50 but it’s very unique, fresh but also deep and smoky.
It used to have better perfomance. Get an early batch plus use the lotion and iso e super trick.

I strongly disagree. It has that great orange opening, but then vetiver completely dominates the fragrance.
Nishane Sultan Vetiver.
