Hey man don't worry about hate or criticism especially about having fun with what you do; I really like your channel, personally, it's usually casual and straight forward and isn't pretentious remains a good reference for lots of people like myself - I feel like I can detect hurt from whatever hate.. and that kinda pisses me off because I enjoy watching you & this channel personally. From one gearhead to another, you're obviously an alright guy with a genuine vibe frfr forget all the negative low-lives and ego-mongers and all their fkn empty funless opinions and have a fkn blast and be silly doing what you love 🙂
I will never own one of these. The temptation is just too much to hook it up to my car stereo and drive around doing Dalek impressions out my windows at every intersection. Just arrest me pre-emptively already.
I've been doing this since the fall, except we play ice cream music and make vague US security commands such as "attention American citizens, please stay within your homes, the dead have become, undead"
One of my goals in life is to have a music store like Andertons. Full of funny guys that all seem to be great to hang out with in person. Love all of the videos across the channels. 🤙🏼
Back when I was a struggling musician, buying gear always came down to, “Can I use it on stage?” If “yes”, then I’d buy it. If it made something sound better, it was always a candidate for purchase. With this, it’s more gimmick-y. It seems to be geared towards a DJ. The user interface gives me that impression.
Sad all of you front-line guys doing reviews on this particular box seem to not really care for showing off the voice pitch (low but especially high) for more than one and a half seconds WITHOUT touching the formant fader (or anything else), as if nobody would like to **hear** the actual raw quality of it, how convincing it sounds and how much artifacts it produces compared to vst solutions: one of the main reasons I'd presume to purchase one in the first place? Gotta keep looking then...
I love your videos! I appreciate the humorous approach! More blind fold keyboard videos including both fantoms, montage and modx, and nords, PLLLLEASE?!
The aira gear sounds really good iv got the j6 and t8 gonna grab the e4 at some point and the s1 I'd like to see them bring out an aira sampler that would be dope something like the volca sample but direct samples I'd definitely buy one
If I had to choose this or the GoXLR for voice changing, I prefer the GoXLR because it seems like the only one that can do pitch changing to my liking, for example a chipmunk. The Roland unfortunately does not get anywhere close.
I shouldn't of watched this video, now I have to get one of these. So awesome! Thanks for doing a great job of showing all that it can do. 👌👍 Were your headphones and the device routed to a mixer?
The only problem is, ya it has some of those hard voice effects, but generally many of these voice boxes is a little like toys unless you want exactly those special effects. Even TC has dropped there pro versions of the Helicons. You have to look at the used market if you just want a decent vocalist that can make some good 3 or 4 part harmonies. Nothing like that is available in new standalone products today which is a shame. You have to go for a Yamaha or Korg Arranger board that has a Helicon or other vocalist build in. I still have my old Digitech Vocalist II at home, but ya lets face it they were cool back in the 80-90's but not on par with what a Helicon can do. The harmony side of these stomp boxes today is not very good and is generally geared towards guitar or soloists as a fun thing to play with.
better off using a JD-Xi or Mininova/Ultranova? noted, not that I use the vocoder on my JD and Ultranova, lol, but if I decide to, I'm equipped for win
I was looking at this unit gear but I already own a TC Helicon Voicelive Extreme so thanks for reminding me that I do not need this as I already have a similar piece of gear. Thanks🙏
Hi there, I’ve only just subscribed to this channel. I love your review of this voice effects unit. I have got one in my Amazon cart at the moment but there is one thing stopping me from buying it just now, from a blindness perspective, would I be able to use it? Are there any touch controls or is it all switches and rotary controls and the like? Sorry for what may seem like an odd question but this is the only thing that is stopping me buying this very nice piece of kit. Thanks for letting me know.
Question for the experts: to record directly to the computer. Do I need to connect to a sound card or directly to the computer and record through Ableton?
Thanks for the informative video! By the way, I nearly bought a Waldorf Iridium keyboard from your store, but your colleague said there is no option for an extended warranty. When spending nearly £2,500 on a new piece of kit, I naturally want to protect my investment. I bought the keyboard elsewhere, and was given a three year warranty free of charge. This is something you may want to think about, as you lost a sale.
So could u use this as an effects pedal iv got the t8 and the j6 getting the S1 not really had the urge to get one of these but I'm actually thinking I gotta get one now if it can change the voice it could obviously add effects to synths I think all get on at some point definitely a handy tool especially if u got a horrible sining voice like me my set up would be beneficial with one
I have a MODX. I sing. Have a TC Helicon Extreme, but I am looking for a more simple device for my voice. The TC Helicon is more for guitar. I would like voice correction, but I am not interested so much in all kind of harmonies, just a simple deep, and more simple solution vith my MODX. If somebody could give me advice, about wich tool would be better in my case. Thanks.
Can Roland e-4 be used for live stage performance? I ever tried it with my full band performance (of course with loud sound environment) but the e-4 created huge noise / distortion unexpectedly. Is it common for e-4? Then it’s only designed for silent studio (?)
Is it possible to control the pitch correction with a midi keyboard. So that it corrects pitch to the keys you're pressing on the keyboard, like a vocoder?
💥❓💥 Question @AndertonsKeyboardDept from a total newbie: What amplification are you using for the demo? Can I plug this into any home hi-fi amplifier, or should I only use one that's dedicated to instruments (eg, guitar or keyboard, etc.)? Thanks
Looking forward to getting my VerseLab Mv1 even more, now. Still not positive about it, but seems like a great piece of kit for me at the price. One if the only products which seems to have decent vocal effects, processing, etc… with synth, drum and other awesome sounds all in a small and pretty powerful and straightforward unit. Def seems like the best Groovebox for vocals which also fits well into a larger or live set up. What is everyone using for live (or studio), effects, modulation, etc..?! Besides a computer… I really want to know! 🤔🤘 Edit: I might go with the Push 3 instead/also. Not sure about it’s vocal capabilities yet, but I have to imagine they’re pretty amazing! Possible follow-up to come. 😜
The thing about these is..... well, ya can’t be fixed on what the past was. New musicians today need what they can afford, and if it’s got a remnant of a classic sound, we’ll make it work. Producing music happens all day, to many people, every day.
I have a VT-4 which has good sounding pitch correction/harmony. I have to say that I feel like there’s something a bit “off” with the E-4, like there’s a strange warble or ‘reediness’ or something when using the pitch correction and harmony. Almost like it sounds unstable and wispy? Hard to explain. But I think the VT-4 is clearly better sounding
oh man how cool would it be if he put the formant switch all the way down and went "2001 records and lack market records gathered to form an unfavorable clique. prepare for the hounds of the underground" or whatever
Unfortunately this tech seems no better than it was 20 years agp. Sigh… they really need to do an AI powered true vocal changer. Until then its just not very good
Tbh I feel more inspired using instruments like these than by messing around in a DAW, I guess different people feel comfortable with different ways to make music, who would have thought?
Honestly, it's truly sad to see what Roland have become. I don't believe for a split second that this is what Ikutaro would have wanted for his company. "Roland don't chase analogue ghosts". They're actually right... Only, nobody told us they were going to chase digital ones instead.
They didn’t say we don’t chase analog ghosts but - we don’t chase ghosts of the past. Which is even worse, because they are living on account of old fame. Nobody can believe what Roland became. I mean WTF!? They used to make a gear that was on legendary albums and gear that was moving boundaries in music. People from Roland gear used to develop new genres of music.

Absolutely perfect for us Volca lovers. I've really enjoyed all of your reviews on these new Roland synths.
Really affordable.

A nice, simple and straightforward demonstration.
The formant shifting sounds exactly like my VS-1680 from 24 years ago.
Greta Thunberg would applaud Rolands recycling of theyre mfx sections
That final performance needs to be on the Roland front page :D
Great video as always, thanks!
These are so interesting, I really want to get my hands on all three of them.

spot on! From what I can discern it sounds bloody dreadful. They update the hardware and just port over the same old algo's.
I love your videos! I appreciate the humorous approach! More blind fold keyboard videos including both fantoms, montage and modx, and nords, PLLLLEASE?!
This review make me buy this thing for my son 😂 great for being annoying in his studio and for his rap music! ❤

Interested in how it compares to the VT-4? Considering I smashed my VT-4 against the wall! Still using it albeit minus a few functions.
10/10 video. I’m sold. Give him a raise. I’m giving him the keys to my house. Jesus can take the wheel and so can he.
If I had to choose this or the GoXLR for voice changing, I prefer the GoXLR because it seems like the only one that can do pitch changing to my liking, for example a chipmunk. The Roland unfortunately does not get anywhere close.
Some liberty caps and one of these and it’s gonna be a weekend and a half😂
That’s so cool. I already have the VT-4, and your gunna make me go buy this one now lol
Qual a diferença do E4 para o Vt4?
I was just about to buy this, thank goodness. No way

Yup this isn’t bad if you need a reasonably priced voice mangler unless you already got a Helicon.
I was looking at this unit gear but I already own a TC Helicon Voicelive Extreme so thanks for reminding me that I do not need this as I already have a similar piece of gear. Thanks🙏

Do I need to connect to a sound card or directly to the computer and record through Ableton?
No sound card. It’s an audio interface in its self
So what exactly is the difference between this product and the Roland vt4?
Thanks for the informative video! By the way, I nearly bought a Waldorf Iridium keyboard from your store, but your colleague said there is no option for an extended warranty. How odd, to make a vocal effects box without an xlr i/o.
can you use this one as a voice loop station, creating voice layers live? thanks.

mate can i fly over there and buy you a pint and have the craic?! i really want to see when you're not holding back with the banter hah :)
Can you use it for live streams for singers and if yes how ???
In the night I hear em talk
Haha omg love the Kanye lines
when you connect a mic to the input, does it lift it to line level or I still need to connect the effects box to mic in in my mixer?

How are you getting that drone sound?!
Can this be connected to a regular Keyboard?
Can this work with pioneer mixers
I'm trying to seriously get acquainted with this Roland E-4 device, and this Anderton opp thinks this is Monty Python. Come on, man.
Can you get this as a plugin on logic pro i wonder?
Akai offers it
Hey! I like what you're doing! And if I didn't I would let you know in a non-hateful way! 😅 much love! This channel is A1 steaksauce
What is that little keybord used to find the pitch?
That’s a op-1 by teenage engineering
@@matthewg4882 Thx for the info :)
How do you change the bpm on this thing? I read the manual but didn't see it!
How can I use the eroland for TikTok duet?
Seems like VT-1 under cover isn't it?
Servirá para cantar en vivo? ( soy vocalista)

Producing music happens all day, to many people, every day.
Jack is the Ricky Gervais of music equip demos.
How did you fix the auto tune
This seems very similar in functionality to the roland vt4
yeah. i wish someone had a comparison to see if the pitch correction and such were improved with the E4
I have a VT-4 which has good sounding pitch correction/harmony. I have to say that I feel like there’s something a bit “off” with the E-4, like there’s a strange warble or ‘reediness’ or something when using the pitch correction and harmony. Although I do have to say, that this particular demo sounds better than most of the others I have seen of this unit
@schmapps1 what microphones are people using in the other videos? Do most people use the SM57 with this unit?
Can this be used with obs studio to stream on twitch?
@:Mosey: Ferocious. can you please do a tutorial about this? Would really appreciate it.
Why does it sound so glitchy? Is that a deliberate choice?
it's cheap
If someone doesn't like what you do it's 'hate'......mkay. 🤣
It's such a shame it couldn't handle at least 2 simultaneous effects.
Does anyone know if this works with the usb port on the roland mx1 mixer?
I believe it does. And the Mx1 should have 4 special ports for AIRA products. Actually not sure if this is one, but def in line with them!
@@MaxOstrovtheheadyhive Thanks!
you sounds like the reddit stories hahaha
sounds like pants : ( £175 wowzers!
I wish you had demonstrated this device correcting small vocal intonation problems. I don't do hip hop crap.
OK boomer
nothing to stop you patching into this unit so you can use any mic you own
For the price, it’s not bad. Just don’t need it.
Does Roland bought TC Helicon last peace of cra…..p! 😂
It looks fun, but it sounds pretty bad tbh
Without xlr input it looses too much signal
@Teoma The VT-4 also has phantom power I believe
no de-esser or chorus buttons...again.
I know this guy's joking around, but all I hear is "so many foreign worlds."
Like a less good VT with a looper.
Think you’d sound better singing out of tune than through this thing!
Maybe guitar players would buy one, they're massive gear suckers.
Well there's one Roland product I can do without.
Does it have compressor feature?
oh man how cool would it be if he put the formant switch all the way down and went "2001 records and lack market records gathered to form an unfavorable clique. prepare for the hounds of the underground" or whatever
Unfortunately this tech seems no better than it was 20 years agp. Sigh… they really need to do an AI powered true vocal changer. Until then its just not very good
sounds a bit wank to me. i bought vocalsynth 2 and couldnt really get any usable sounds out of that either. pass.
It works connected to a clown Xd
Hey Guys, dont do that test with a Dynamic microphone but do it with a condensator microphone...it will work 10 Times better
How are you going to do that? This thing just has a basic pre-amp with no phantom power.
Call me old fashioned but if you need pitch correction don’t pick up a mic. It sounds muck
This is mostly a nice toy. But that's it. For any serious production usage it's completely useless...
Auto pitch makes anyone a singing star. I don't care for it.
Isn't there plugins for all this? Seems like waste of money.
there are plugins for everything, yet hardware market is booming like never before
well, if you solve the mystery, let us know (or not)
Tbh I feel more inspired using instruments like these than by messing around in a DAW, I guess different people feel comfortable with different ways to make music, who would have thought?

I reckon most singers these days use exactly these effects to cover up their poor singing. No wonder I hate modern pop music.
