Hi there!!! Well, "before" LOVEBITES, there were a lot of great "all-women metal bands" like ALDIOUS, DESTROSE, MARY'S BLOOD, DISQUALIA, FATE GEAR and the "mother" (or Grandmother) of all-women bands was SHOW-YA, a Hard Rock/Metal band formed in 1981. SHOW-YA is stilll active and they have contributed a lot to the feminine-music-scene in Japan organizing an annual festival only for woman-artists. This festival es called "NAON no YAON" and a lot of all-women bands have participated on it, bands like Gacharic Spin, Nemophila, Cynthia, Paradoxx, etc.

One of the OG bands of Japanese Metal. Though they no longer perform they are reuniting with former members Aruto and Re:NO for one-night only at Club Citta on November 29!
Btw this is the singer that came back for the show. Her name is Re:No and she had also left for medical issues. The guitarist you liked is Toki and the other is Yoshi.
A wonderful band - and so undervalued. They have had a path of bad luck with their (great) vocalists. But these ladies are no quitters and still going strong. Thanks for the review.

That pink guitarist Toki? She’s a force of nature. My favorite of the genre for sure. Aldious are indeed one of the OGs of female J-Metal and the first successful band of this millennium. They consequently have along and storied history. I still hope for good things from them after their upcoming concert with Cyntia, another OG band who started around the same time. Love them both, and thank them all.

Terry Bozzio was only in Zappa's band from 1975 to 1979 (he returned for a short period in 1984 for the Thing Fish album), although he was featured on many albums since then even though he was no longer a member as Zappa often released older material at later dates. After he left in '79 he was in the prog band U.K. and then formed Missing Persons with other ex-Zappa alumni including his then wife, Dale Bozzio, who he met during his stint with Zappa. Since Missing Persons split the first time he has been kind of a journeyman drummer.
Really enjoyed that video, not really looked into Aldious as they kinda vanished a while back (sorry to hear the drummer's health problem) but the was a cool song. Good times I'll have to start at more Aldious now 😃

Like Asami of Lovebites Re:NO did not set out to be the singer of a metal band when she started singing. Re:NO has had some health problems with her hearing which affected her ability to sing properly but she did come back with a solo album more on the pop side.
love this band! especially their 2021 live version of "we are" with singer maki oyama and terry bozzios (zappas drummer) stepdaughter marina on drums (two bassdrums aren´t enough).
I like Aldious. One of my top five Japanese female bands. They also have two different singers. I like the guitarist with big pink hair, pink dress and pink guitar. She is always smiling while she's shredding on guitar solos. ❤❤❤❤❤

Aldious will be playing again at the end of November in their first successful formation after the departure of singer Rami in 2012. Drummer Aruto will be back on drums and Re:No will be back on vocals. Aruto's drumming style is as extraordinary as it is powerful. Aruto : A Woman Called Horse.💪 🤘
Aldious is a Great band. Unfortunately they have been stricken with members leaving due too illnesses throughout the later half of their career. Another band of Superb Musicianship flanked with a Spectacular Live show Experience. They are much older than Lovebites,BabyMetal and Band Maid btw hitting the scene in 2008. The members still play but generally its in the Metal and Rock Jam/Cover bands or their own projects that are popular in the Japanese Rock/Metal club scene. The more recent Aldious live shows with Maki Oyama on Vocals are Complete Fire. Also of Note is their last drummer Maria is Terry Bozzio's Step Daughter and explains her unique 3 bass drum kit setup and her complete mastery of the kit.
Toki, the guitarist with the pink guitar, has a couple of shows coming up with former LOVEBITES bass guitarist Miho. They’ll have different band members each time, but the lineup looks great. Marina, the drummer, has Crohn’s disease, same as me. Like most conditions it’s wildly different from person to person, but I can absolutely understand why she felt the need to step away. My wife and I decided not to have kids naturally because of it.
Aldious is ignored by most Americans but loved in Japan. They are not afraid to venture into pop rock but their main focus is on metal of various degrees of hardness. The original singer was with a great rock/metal band for a year. The band was Raglaia. Try the song Forlorn please. The singer Rami is excellent and very beautiful. ❤❤❤
I was wondering if you guys would find your way to this band. They have a large catalog of songs going back to 2010 (those first 4 albums are killer), and with Destrose, paved the way for the female hard rock/metal bands out there today. They do have a lot of videos that are worth looking into...
One of the early all female metal bands that paved the way for many all female Japanese hands that came after. Re:No here is the second singer of Aldious. Rami is the first singer that left the band for health reasons. Man do i miss you Rami, my favorite singer of Aldious . Also, I miss their first drummer Aruto who left when she got married. What a beast on drums you were. The name Aldious was created by Rami shortening the phrase "Ultimate Melodious. Yoshi and Toki are the guitar players here. Both great guitar players. Hopefully someone will buy a song with the original lineup. The Deep Exeed album was so great.

ALDIOUS has always had problems keeping a vocalist permanently. On the show on 11/29 the vocalist will be RE:NO who sings in this video. This show seems to me like a rehearsal for a comeback of the band. By the way, this show is spectacular.

Aldious were one of the first of the new wave of Japanese girl-metal bands to form in the early 2000’s, along with Destrose, Cyntia and existTtrace. They are, in their hearts, a metal band, but have done a lot of exploring of various styles and genres. Personnel: Yoshi has been the constant (founder, lead guitar, band manager, audience right). Toki (co-lead guitar, pink Flying-V, audience left) joined a year later and has also been a constant, except in 2019 when she took time off to have a baby (during that time, Narumi toured with them for a year, in between solo projects). Sawa (bass) was there briefly at the beginning, left, and rejoined in 2010. Marina (drums) replaced Aruto, the original drummer, in 2014. Marina is the step daughter of the legendary Terry Bozzio, who played with Frank Zappa for almost two decades. As with many of the Japanese bands, Aldious have a rock solid rhythm section, over which the guitars and vocals have free range to do their thing. The biggest changes have been at vocals. Rami, the original vocalist, left in 2012 and Re-No took over. Their most commercially successful period was with Re-No, despite some controversy among their fans over whether she was “metal” enough. Re-No retired for medical reasons in 2018, and R!N stepped in. They seem to have bad luck with this position, as R!N announced she was leaving as of July 2021, also for medical reasons, after recording a few songs. Have you gotten to really old school JMetal??? "X Japan", try songs from "The Last Live". "Seikima 11", is a Japanese "Kiss" but more metal. 😊😊😊
