    Thanks for the video. Does the light get triggered by plants leaves moving in wind too?

    i just got one of these and the packaging is different yours has the light in a plastic bag wheres mine is almost loose in the box it also does not seem as stiff as yours to operate makes me wonder if the wind would push it out of position

    Just returned one of these because the detection distance is actually of 5-6m instead of 14m as they specify on the technical paper.

    1184lm isn't incredible, a typical 10w floodlight is 1000lm so for 14w 1184lm is a bit on the low side if anything. Also while I do agree they are a great design with the individually angle-able PIR and floodlight head they just look very ugly in my opinion. Another thing I agree with you on is the switched live output, this is very useful and not many security lights have it. However I wouldn't say it's worth the extra £60 (vs a normal 10w security light).

    • @dugbert9
      @dugbert9 3 года назад

      What is the switched live output for? I have one of these at my front door but it only triggers when I am halfway down the steps to the front door (it's a basement flat) - so I was wondering if the SLO can be used to run a cable to an additional PIR sensor at the top of the steps?

    I have bought two of these exact same as in video, one started misbehaving in winter when weather was frosty it started flickering with only half the normal luminosity but sorted its self out when weather improved ie spring time, the other one has just started doing the same but were now in july and it won't stop doing it, not sure if there getting moisture or damp or water in them, these two are now only two years old , they didn't do this at the beginning when new, very disappointed with them they're not that good, I bought these after suffering with cheap Chinese ones off ebay so thought ide go for the German quality but it hasn't worked mine are rubbish, also the light doesn't stay in place at the angle you set it to, the ratchet mechanism is too weak and the wind will move it, not good, not sure what to try next but won't be steinel, phoned steinel uk but they didn't really want to know, just fobbed me off really, they said just check if water is getting in ????? Christ they're meant meant to be german quality thats what I paid for, sooo we move on try something else.

      Sad to hear that. I’ve fitted hundreds of these and haven’t had a problem with one single unit. I think you must have got the freak unit that failed out of the millions. These are the best out there in my opinion.

      Thanks for posting your experience with these The Steinel XLED, I thought they were the best in the market, but with your poor experience with customer service and with the actual product itself, I will avoid these and continue looking for something nicer.

    These look good but I’ve got a worry. My outdoor light is coming off a 3 gang switch in the hallway. 1 is the downstairs light, 1 is the upstairs light and one is the outside light but when I’ve been out to look at it there’s No earth wire, just Live and neutral. Will it all be earthed from the switch? It was a qualified electrician that rewired the house about 18 years ago.

      @@artisanelectrics Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, very good of you indeed. It was a qualified electrician that did the rewiring when I was having an extension built. It was also inspected by the council building regulations inspector so I can’t understand? Both lights were put up by them and both are of Metal construction! Once again thank you very much and keep up the good work. I’ve watched a few of your videos about having an Electric charging box as I’ve been looking at electric cars.

    I’m getting the electrician to fit a 14.8 watt Steinel xled home 2. Would that be enough wattage to adequately light up 6-8 sq m comfortably

    Certainly not credible for me, had it installed by reputable electricians in Jan 2019 found this week the light has lost its intensity and now shows rather dimmed spots of light. Had to play with a long time for it to pick me up, coming out of a back door which is only to its side about six feet away. Also found it did not detect well and slow to respond, bought a cheap set of five trapeziums shaped solar lights from B&Q for £14 to hang on the fence right opposite my back door and were much quicker to pick up any birds or me coming out of my back door. Expect, as often on here, you got a back hander of STEINEL. If this is an example of the top of the range security light used by businesses, no wonder there is so much crime now. Wish as use to happen in the good old days, companies spent more time on the quality of their products as oppose promoting such as RUclipss like this one.

    • @artisanelectrics
      @artisanelectrics  2 года назад

      We have never been paid by Steinel to promote their products, we have installed hundreds of these and never had a single one fail!

      @@artisanelectrics The number of times I have heard that over the last 30 years from so many companies is beyond belief. Unlike so many people now, I am like the boy in the Emperor's New Clothe, who dares to get back and state their product did not do as promised, dare not to be fazed at the counter being watched by other people, dare to use my long term IT skills to get the phone number and email address of the CEO and tell them the truth about their product. I am NOT as so many people do now, shrugged their shoulders and their idiotic acceptance like drones and just say nothing and throw it away, know that with the intended stonewalling of fake customer support being put on hold to ages, talking to people reading scripts who can't speak English and have no detailed knowledge of the product - it is a total waste of their time as nothing will be done. They know it is simpler and less hassle just to buy another one, even the same thing. I also with my background in IT in consulting, training and management tell me that companies will reach out to retailers, installers, builders etc and offer placement deals and is one of the main reasons we see so many RUclipsrs like yours. It is a well known fact as we see with many newspaper articles the 'paid' either to or from 'so called' positive comments. Having trained many large commercial companies making electrical products you certainly are in the extreme minority if as you say you have sold 'hundreds' let's say a 1000 as the average for electrical products which 'fail' the industry percentile average is currently 7.6%. Thus is we use 1000 of STEINEL XLED home 2 that is 76 of Solar Lights which is accepted will go out faulty. I also today contacted my local STEINEL retailer who told me that the XLED home 2 is known for the problem with the light going faulty and if it is in the 5-year guarantee it will be replaced, which totally 'refutes' your point. I think you will find in business at the corporate level, it is cheaper to deal with people like me who research and ask for a replacement, than recalling all the XLED home 2 or sending out replacement lights. I expect, as with many people today, even when presented with the facts will stay say they are right and what is so desperately worrying it is now a standard practise as we see so well with Boris and the Xmas Party that in their heads they TRULY believe what they have said to be true. Not sure how old you are, but when the grumpy difficult old buggers like me die out and absolutely nothing works at all, your generation is going to be well and truly f***. Please do get back, I do enjoy such communications, but hopefully you can come back with more proof and break down of my arguments than I usually get. Look forward from hearing from you. PS. I can touch type!
