I work for Mazda in the UK and I can't sell enough of these! They are amazing to drive and they compete well with the premium brands like Lexus, Volvo, BMW and Merc! The Skyactiv X is an amazing engine! the MPG i'm hearing from customers are amazing! This person isn't really giving it a fair review! You need to get behind the wheel of one! Feel it for yourself! :)
I saw it by chance when I was having my MX5 powershift valued. I now have a test drive booked! It seems perfect and cheaper all round that the BMW X2 I was considering.
Just checked the underside of my 2017 mazda 3 and was shocked to find the painful truth. All bushings, bolts nuts and basically all the components are severely corroded because of lack of galvanised protection coating. This is a cost saving trick done by Mazda and I urge every person that bought one to chech at least the bolted connections from behind each wheel. Mazda seem to get away with it but this is dangerous long term for drivers who buy used cars(mine was brand new with 50 miles on clock) . I will troll Mazda on every channel to raise people awareness of the dangers they expose themselves to by buying Mazda cars. Thank you for reading my comment and stay safe.
Why is every car reviewer saying you should be fine with a manual gearbox? Seriously? Driving an automatic gearbox makes driving (especially in traffic jams) so much more convenient. Oh, and if you want 'fun' driving, please go race on a circuit or something with your manual gearbox.
I tried both and went with the manual. More engaging. Satisfying shift. But it depends on your preference. I personally think automatic engines take a lot of control away from the drive.
If you drive in traffic jams alot, then auto all the way. I rarely do, and enjoy driving a manual. Auto boxes used to absorb some power, and gave worse fuel consumption. Not sure if that's the case - in 2023
Tried out this car...... Negatives - the exterior plastic is massively overdone but choose your colour wisely and you can live with it. Rear passenger space is limited for adults. No USB sockets nor independent climate control for the rear passengers. Only one rear seat pocket (why?)... Cargo space is below average. Positives - lovely build quality, great standard spec in most trims, well priced, lovely 6 speed manual transmission, avoids hybrid battery , CVTs and turbos so the long term reliability is very promising. It handled well for a small SUV, it was very well refined to drive and very well insulated against noise. Weighing it up we are going to buy a upper- mid trim with the SkyactiveX engine and the manual transmission in 'snowflake white'...
looked at it and even tested it but too much "cladding" for me.shame☹ (currently have a cx3 sport nav 2.0) but have ordered a ..........ford puma st line x first edition in magnetic ...look and see what you think.
A French reviewer measured 6,1liter/100kms consumption with Skyactive X CX-30, I’ve never heard a 180LE petrol SUV cunsumes that much, can you name some other SUV-s that have same power and consumption figures!?
Obviuosly, the reviewer is a great patriot, when inland car industry in deep shit, you can bullshit a little, influence carbuyers to purchase homebased brands.
Corkfish1 it will, I just got the build sheet from Mazda yesterday. The top end Premium version will also have paddle shifters as well as all the I-Active features.
The '80's SEAT ATECA? You've got to be joking. You mean a modern small turbo engine with cyclinder de-activation and plenty of low grunt in the rev range -v- Mazda's ancient (80's) 2.0L petrol which is slower and less economical? But for an extra £1500 or so you can buy the newer Mazda engine which is supposed to emulate the low grunt of the diesel but as this and other reviews point out, it fails with little or no advantage over the '80s 120bhp version. VAG's engines are faster and more economical, Mazda's approach however? Theres a reason why nobody else has stuck with that '80 engine formula of non-turbo.
I don't know which country you are comparing it too but I can tell you that European vehicles tend to have much less power than the US versions. The US version of the CX-30 will have somewhere north of 180 hp
@@worrywart1311 No, but It would have looked better without them IMO .Don't think I could live with it though. like Mazdas, was going to get the cx 30 but ended up going for the new 3.
I think Mazda making big mistake by produced the cx3 in America because the Americans market consumers most of them are bigger sizes people they are not small like most Asian people Mazda should extend the size from cx5 and cx9 instead. This cx30 maybe better choice for Americans instead cx3 is like a toy Mazda waste money for it.
This is definitely the stupidest comment on RUclips at the moment. Mazda have no ugly cars. Whether you like this model or not, it's just FACTUAL that this is good looking for its segment.
@@deet4895 again, it's not ugly. It's still infinitely more attractive than the rivals it was designed to compete with and no, before you say "YoU mUsT bE a MaZdA fAnBoY 🥴🥴" I'm not. Its just not ugly at all. There's SO many uglier cars on the market right now
Gotta say, I just love the styling of the current Mazda range. They look so classy.

Is this built in Japan? Or elsewhere?
@@MrRuv10 Japan :)
Just driven one and this vid sums up my experience very well. I found it 'anticeptic' and not a little boring. My search for fun continues.
Skyactive X: "...offers the low down grunt of a petrol engine but with the cheaper fuel of a petrol." umm....what?
xanaduzu think they meant to say “low-end grunt of a diesel engine”.
xanaduzu I think he means the low down grunt of a diesel
@3:25 should be low down grunt of a diesel engine. Not petrol.
Great Video Review. I particularly like the styling and the Interior quality

Thankfully here in Australia we’ll also get the 2.5 litre petrol engine. Can’t wait for it to hit our shores early 2020.
instead of buying compact sedans like the coorolla or civic, i think this cx30 is a better value
Absolutely gorgeous car. Can’t wait for it to come to South Africa
Let's hope it's priced right!!

Probably because they didn't get given an auto to test, so have no idea how it drives lol
I would never buy a manual. Why have gears , we dont use a starting handle any more!

Sorry, but the massive black plastic cladding ... is not "looking nice" , especially compared to the CX-4
Too much exterior black plastic. Pity a body coloured option isn't available.
That grotesque black plastic cladding ruins the look of an otherwise nice looking car. Dealbreaker for me.
Agreed
Shame. Mazda doesn’t care about your opinion
Should have used the 2.5 and 2.5 turbo.... they'll sell a lot more of them.
Yes...put the 250PS engine in it...goes 0-100kph in 6.5 secs...that's what everyone wants? Isn't it?
Presenter looks and sounds like Eddie Izzard 😳
