Nice touch of you guys to put the Pace Car in the thumbnail
It's a shame that the pacecar took all the headlines because that was a great race and a great drive by RHR. Keep putting on a great show, IndyCar!
This race is the end of an era. From 1961 to 2018, ABC covered at least 1 American Open Wheel Series race per year, and this was their final broadcast. After ESPN lost NASCAR, they really gave up on the content, and as a result, NBC will now be the home of IndyCar. I wish ABC would continue to broadcast, but a network that cares is more important than tradition.
And now Fox has got the IndyCar rights from NBC.
Hey... They did not spoil the race with the thumbnail pic. They should crash the pace car more often. Thanks for the UL.
It would have been easy to leave out, but thanks for including the pace car incident.
Imagine F1 uploading a full race on YT. They'll take down channels for posting two seconds of race footage...
They have only uploaded one, the Malaysian GP of 2001.
you can watch 2018 monaco on youtube
Fortunately there are now many vintage F1 races you can watch on RUclips!
The modern F1 stuff isn’t worth it anyways.
The hybrid era made everything insanely boring and it became worthless to watch the races on TV.
Life is fine if you could get cheap tickets.
Rossi didn't lose the championship here, but this was probably the biggest dent that didn't need to happen.
Watching all the seasons, Dixon gets most of his championship points by settling for a top 5 when that's the best his car can give him. I think Hunter-Reay and Rossi were probably the same in pace but the 3-stop strategy with the conditions should've been the no-brainer call and it showed between them.
Couldn’t be more disappointed with ABC that they didn’t show any tribute footage and/or talk about the memories considering that they cover open wheel racing since the 1960’s and that this is ABC’s final ever indycar race. All they did was the sign off in the final 30 seconds of this program.
33kalam The pace car crash cut into time
"...final ever"? Are you a fortune teller?
11:23 : A legend was born
Thanks for pointing that out. That's funny.
12:24 And THANK GOD it was not Oriol driving, because his great racing career would have been DELETED for good
Paul Ludda That sounds WONDERFUL, YEEEEEEEES
the exact reason this happened it's because Oriol wasn't driving lol
Hunter ray was just awesome in this race . He is good.
Congratulations Detroit, not only do you build street cars, your bumps destroy them.
IndyCar is retiring ESPN/ABC racing in Detroit in 2018 and NBC sports and NBCSN are racing at Detroit in 2019
LOVE how you guys upload races!
That was one of the best drives I’ve ever seen.
that weekend in Detroit was the end of an era ABC's last 2 races and so many well known people their last motor sports races they worked with it was the last time we would Jerry Punch from the pits, and Rick Debruhl, and the last time we would see Allen Bestwick call a motorsports related telecast until 2021, but now he's back at ESPN this year for SRX.
"That´s not Oriol..." lol
Top 2 are my two favorite drivers
The commentators didn't even realize Wickens took the lead from Rossi on strategy. When Rossi pitted (after Wickens) they said "Wickens back into the lead" when it was the first time he had led all race.
Dammit Mark, you had one job!
11:50 Seen this multiple times but never actually knew exactly from what series this was from. To think it was an Indycar pace car 😭
I love the Indycar series
Rossi you are a beast..!!
1:41:20 WOW, AMAZING CALL!
At 8:33 that’s Telemundo’s World Cup theme
"Celebrity Pace Car Driver" - identified initially as GM VP driving his company's car, obviously some producer put the kibosh on embarrassing GM further.
11:23 pace car crash
36:40 - Race finally start
First time i das Pace car hit .
Wickens could've fought for the podium if not the lead but their strategy left them in no mans land.
Don't worry captain we'll buff out those scratches!
1:41:10 Rossi's lockup; final lead change
Nick Hoffmann what Rossi did was a bit stupid i would say.
I fully agree, let your obviously faster teammate pass you and still make the podium
Mark Royce (driver?)deserves the headlines not the pace car & yes the race is good. although coverage should be clipped to 14:07 with grid and replays peppered over the stall coverage.
ABC’s last race
The last pace car crash, that I remember, was in Long Beach in 1991, when the pace car crashed into the tyre wall, after the pit incident between Micahel Andretti and Emmo.
Texas in June 1999. Lone Star JR put one on the inside wall on the backstretch.
There was a pace car incident at a Goody’s Dash race in Daytona of 1999
The pace car caught on fire in the NASCAR Daytona Clash in 2013 I believe.
11:23 The most epic of fails...
What a waste of a perfectly good Corvette...
Bora lá
What a ridiculous comment Rossi made at the end of the race.
-He Choked !
That’s it.
RHR!! 🇺🇸
Before the crash ??? :)
ABC's last race... Only commentator i like for indycar on ABC is Allen Bestwick
Most physically demanding course in IndyCar? What about Texas? Back in the CART days they had to cancel a race there because the G-forces in the turns were nearly making drivers pass out in practice.
That was a bit stupid from rossi to do that . His crew did everything but he let them down.
Yes rayan
Drivers Start Your Engines
There's only one way to fix all of this: Bring ABC Sports back and leave ESPN by their own!
This penalty system in qualifyng is ridicoulous
It sucks that RHR gets the win handed to him at the cost of Rossi loosing! Dumb luck!
Pace car driver is never gonna be invited to drive again haha
God the commentary is awful!
Dan Katz Thankfully it’s the last race with ABC.
It's frustrating because the racing is exciting, but there is no analysis of a pass - they just say "wow, what a pass!" or "nice move!" haha.
There was a part where they're going three wide into a chicane, and they don't know what to say!
They're also providing no narrative or context whatsoever. It's just "he's on a run!". Who is on the fresher tyres? Who would benefit or lose out from a battle? Who has more to gain or to lose?
11:25 here's why we're all here
gotta love captain america
the comments are awful in a good race.. that's Indy
the comments are good with some unnecessary shout outs but the race is boring .. that's F1
It's better though when IndyCar is on NBC.
11:45 WTF moment in indycar
Amateur Pace Car driver without helmet, spare Pace car without transponder. F1 does a lot wrong, but that stuff they have ironed out.
The passengers of the Corvette were really lucky to escape uninjured! I bet they had some pain for a week though.
DRUNK
Pace car crash xd
