This gang of bacteria on my face is winning the battle, but you know your girl is going to win the war.
My girl
I for one think we could use some more violent analogies from doctors.
:)
My nightmares now have more specific details lol
Amen!
LOL as long as they are illuminating therefore useful :)
Hi I'm in Houston is there any way I can make an appt with you
Loving these "fundamental skincare ingredients" videos - so many new trends that it's easiest to forget the staples.
Happy Tuesday!
This ingredient is a blessing for acne sufferers thanks to those who discovered it.
Is it good for fungal acne
Ash ish yes!!!!
Ash ish try nizoral shampoo its the besttt
Hi dr Dray! You made me a smart consumer, thank you for that! Don't have acne anymore but watching yoyr videos nevertheless. Such a useful info! Love your analogies! Very vivid but work! Have a good Tuesday!
Thank you! Hope you are having a great day
I am so pleased to have found you. I had given up on my face the last few years as it is so reactive to ingredients, and some allergies to ingredients, it was wrecked. Its rested long enough, and now, with your help slowly being repaired, never to be as good as it was, but for an almost 60 year old, I'll be pleased if I can cleanse it, and use BP or Salicylic Acid to help turn over cells. A great sunscreen with mineral and hopefully a moisturizer included, I will be happy
Benzoyl peroxide was a go to when my kids were approaching the teen years, and now I know it has multiple applications!
very handy
I love how very passionate you are whilst talking about benzoyl peroxide. It's clear to see the expressions on your face and hear the tone of your voice, in an excited manner, to give this information to the rest of the world. I LOVE IT!
So grateful for your channel, I've been decluttering my product baskets and following your skin care routine over the past few weeks. Night and day difference in my skin, thank you so much Dr. Dray!
Love these types of videos from you. I learn all the things my 'PA' derm. fail to inform me. I'd see you, if I could, I wouldn't still be suffering with zits almost a year after seeing the PA derm. multiple times. 😖
Happy Tuesday, Dr. Dray. Thanks for teaching us about reading the labels & knowing/understanding active ingredients. Someone I know was pushing this really expensive “miracle cream” which was really just overpriced BP. 🤷🏼♀️
Turned my notifications on for this moment!!
Thanks for watching!
You are a wonderful teacher Dr. Dray! Thank you for providing us so much skincare information.
Have a beautiful day!🤗❤️🌷🌸🌺🌸🌷❤️😘
Benzoyl peroxide is awsome but it will dry the bottom of your soul. Great for oily skin.
It’s the only ingredient that prevents my breakouts along with glycolic acid. I oil cleanse and use a hydrating cleanser to second cleanse. I always use c serum and a hydrating oil. Glycerin and hyluronic acid help a lot. My skin is the clearest it’s ever been thanks to Eminence orgánica and cocokind
Amen
This treatment works www.AcneIce. xyz
go to the site and watch the video. I have been using the information for a few weeks now. My acne is completely gone now. . .
@@mchan2141 Lmao
Nope, made my skin dry within a week, then continuously oily for the past four months. Good for those nasty inflamed spots mind.
Thank you for another thorough review of a product that we are lucky to have access to, Dr. Dray. I hope your shoulder feels better! If I didn’t ‘know you’ better I’d think it was a sunburn 🥵
thanks...i was carrying a heavy bag prior to filming this
I believe you were speaking of the brand Benzagel for us Canadians 😉
**Just realized you marked it in the description box. 🙂**
Thank you for the clarification on not using my Retin A with my benzoyl peroxide at night!
I too was one who was highly reactive to higher percentages of bp but started using 2.5% only 2-3 times a week and switched to Vanicream cleanser, lite moisturizer, and a thin coat of Cereve ointment on no bp days and my skin cleared up tremendously! I'm talking years of under the skin acne that I had. I started this regimen thinking about all that I had been doing and it's reactions and started being super simple.
The way that Dr. Dray has saved my life. I honestly watch her videos while going to bed I cant get enough.
Hey! Am I supposed to wash off the bp gel? Or am I supposed to leave it on?
@@trisha7499 she did mention that you can leave it on but she also mentioned it can bleach materials, so it may bleach your pillow so you could cover with something when laying down
That analogy was so intense... loved. it
Thanks for the great content! Will you review Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinoid serum?
Could you do a video on natural moisture factors sometime? How to enhance and suppress this process would be really interesting- thanks!
Athena Westin Try some oils, argan etc
kotare86 uh don’t try oils
I switched from 5% BP gel to 2.5% BP gel and my skin tolerates it much better. Thanks for the recommendation! 😊
Another great video!!! You’re amazing!!! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!!! ☮️🖖🏽
Love these single ingredient talks! There is so much information, it’s hard to keep track of everything and what everything does. The single ingredient talks is like giving us vocabulary to understand the other talks. All your videos are so super helpful. Thank you so very much for having a RUclips channel and for sharing your knowledge in an understandable manner. You are a true gem. 😊💙💙
Thanks for watching!
Lots of extensive information on the above subject.
You continue to be a wealth of knowledge.
Thank you ! Happy Tuesday 🙂🍁
Happy Tuesday!
Hi Dr Dray! Love your efforts to educate people on basic dermatological concepts! I’m a final year medical student from Australia and looking to get into dermatology as well :)
Just an idea for a video I think could be really interesting is the principle or method of short contact therapy. In particular maybe a kind of literature review covering active ingredients (like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, sulfur, antifungals etc) in a wash off form (or even rinsing off topical medication after a few minutes) compared to leave on products, in terms of efficacy and irritation. You’ve touched on this a lot regarding salicylic acid/benzoyl peroxide washes, but it would be nice to hear your view on the effectiveness/tolerability of other irritating regimes like tretinoin, shown to be effective with SCT in acne!
Happy Thursday!
Massive cup of tea, Dr. Dray video, yesssssss!
👩🏻⚕️You are the best teacher. Thank you for all the information on BP. I love learning new info via analogies.🤓
Life is better when you can learn something new every day.💐
Another amazing video, thx Dr Dray! :)
LOL! Love the analogy in the beginning. Acne sure can feel like a gang fight. BP is misunderstood I think. Thank you for talking about it. I use Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 and love it. It's strong but I only use a tiny amount over problem areas and then thoroughly moisturize. Thank you for all your wonderful information and research!
Hi please what moisturizer do you use
This video was so informative and helpful, thank you for this! Unfortunately no doctor i have seen (around 5 (in the uk)) has ever prescribed them both to me at the same time but at least i know now and can ask for both.
This has been very helpful! I've been avoiding BP due to how badly it irritates me. I saw in another one of your videos using a BP wash. That seems to be the way to go for me. Thank you for all of your honest and expert information!!
I'm 28 years old and I've had breakouts three times in my life. From having normal skin, I suddenly had oily skin and acne started appearing profusely on my cheeks, forehead and sometimes chin and nose. My confidence has taken a hit and I am in pain over the inflammation on my face. Thank you for educating the public on behalf of everyone.
thanks for watching
BP really saved my ass as a pimply teen 😄
Don’t miss waking up with a faintly sore feeling face though....wish, I had known about higher strength not equaling better results back then. Not to mention, the option of using a wash. Or all the other stuff, you’re teaching us 👍
Yes they pushed 10 % back then
Barbi Love
Jepp. And no mentioning of sunscreen from my derm back then either. Ah, the 90s 😆
Dr Dray always gives it straight, I appreciate that
Hi Dr. Dray ! Nobody does reviews/ video like you do ! Have a great day ! 😀😘🇨🇦
@dr dray After I finish with my over priced skincare, which is almost gone, I’m starting the dr dray routine for oily/combo skin.
Can u plzz name a few...
Hannah Morgan Go watch her dr dray oily skin video for products.
your skin looks especially flawless today, dr dray!
i hope with consistent use of tretinoin & sunscreen, my skin will look this good one day lol
thanks so much!
I was thinking the exact same thing
Hey just wondering, any update on your skin? I am just starting Dr. Dray's skin care regimen.
Hi Dr Dray!
I love your videos and your entire skincare philosophy.
I am wondering if you have any videos on what skincare we should be using for our age?
I am in my late 20s. No visible signs of aging yet - but unsure when I should start preventatives.
Thanks
What would we do without you? Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge with us in such a direct and easy to understand way. You are doing wonderful work and helping so many people.
Thank you for this no nonsense explanation. 👏
Thanks for watching!
I'm 45 and I have battled acne my whole life. I've been using benzoyl peroxide since I was a teenager. In a wash form when I was younger and as a topical for 20yrs. I use clean & clean BenzoylPeroxide at 10%...$4.99. It works! I use it religiously everyday to treat my t-zone. I don't ever remember having any drying or skin peeling...but I've been using it a LONG time.
Love all the information Dr. Dray. Would you please do the skincare review on Rodan & Fields (Redefine regimen). It's quite the product hype lately. Thanks :)
Brilliant, just brilliant... I'm going to re-watch this video with my sister and her 15-yr old. He's using Adapelene & BP in combination per his MD's Rx, but not as consistently as he should be... Your 23 minute "talk" might be just what he needs to convince him to be more disciplined in his skincare. Our sincere thanks for sharing and transferring your knowledge. Best to you. hug.
I watch you video everyday. It is like I go to school for lecture. Thank you for your generosity of sharing valuable knowledge.
Thanks for watching!
can u use it w salicylic acid? and which form do u prefer it? cleanser? moisturizer. spot treatment?
Great video, Dr Dray. Can I use BP after accutane? Thank you!!!
I need this video, love u so much. Dr
I've been wanting to learn more about benzoyl peroxide. Thank you Dr Dray. You have such a gift for explaining things. Have a wonderful evening. 😊
thanks for watching
Benzoyl peroxide has helped my acne so much!!!!! Thank you for this video!

Thank you so much Dr. Dray for all this Information. My skin is so much better since I follow your advices. Greetings from Germany ❤
Happy Tuesday!
Thank you SO much dr dray. You always save my life!!
Thank you love, that was so helpful 🙏❤️
I recently moved and have well water. very hard water. My skin has been awful, breaking out, itchy. It's horrible. can you do a video about skin care and water??
Try a britta to purify the water and then heat it up to the heat you want and then wash maybe?
Try getting a showerhead and bathtub faucet filter!
Hi dr dray plz make a review about Avene cleneance
Please do a video on Tea tree and body shop skincare range for your face!!!
Thanks x
I love these specific ingredient videos. You like salicylic acid or Aha for general full face exfoliation. I shouldn't use BP all over?
I use the Panoxyl 10%. Another informative video!
Stacey Louise Very nice. I don’t feel like I’m washing with something weird
I'm currently using the Rodan and Fields Unblemish system. I got very miserable and desperate and ordered it through a family friend. It contains sulfur, benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid in its 4 step system. It's really expensive but it's helped clear my acne a lot. I'm going to continue with the system as I've only been on it for less than 2 months. Once it hopefully clears my skin, I will try working in these more affordable options and hopefully transition out of that system. Thank you for educating us, so that we're more aware of what to look out for!
Not sure if u need the two non BP?
Very interesting video!! Thank you so much Dr. Dray!! Please enjoy the rest of your Day!!
thanks for watching!
Excellent video! Thank you!!
"So what the benzoyl peroxide does is pop a cap in that bacteria with a glock"
Pop a cap in its ass
My Dr put me on Rx clindamycin BP cream in PM , pad in AM along with Doxycycline for rosacea acne. I was seriously skeptical but 🙌 hallelujah it’s working
I just bought BP because i sometimes have big pustules due to my acne rosacea as well. Did you use BP as a spot treatment after moisturizer (to buffer) or how did you use it? I am very interested! Thanks in advance
Good morning Dr!
I have rosacea I prefer mineral sunscreens
What are you thoughts on mineral fusion brand? Maybe you can review their moisturizers with mineral spf
Thank you
Happy Wednesday Dr. DRAY!!!
I love the weird analogies
thanks
Loren Taylor Smith If you are a bacteria in a dark alley LOL
Love these videos. Happy Tuesday Dr dray ❤️
Happy Tuesday!
Loved the analogies!!!
Love this video!! Can you do a video in tinea versicolor?
Love your videos sooooo much !!!! You are very smart.
BP has helped tremendously for my 43 year old acne once I started using it all over my face. And enough of it, nightly. I wish my derm would have told me to use it with my antibiotic when I had developed resistance to clindamycin! Now I'm dealing with sebaceous hyperplasia :(
Julie Wilkins same. I have to always wear it twice a day all over. I have PCOS so my skin over produces hormones that cause extremely oily skin.
Incredibly useful video, thank you for it! I had terrible irritation from a 10% BP cream - fortunately I did short-contact therapy on the face (15 minutes) and washed it off, however I left a veeeery thin layer on my chest and left shoulder where I was having a breakout for the night. About a day later I had such inflamed itchy skin! It took 3-4 days of La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume to calm it down. The first day and night I had to have an ice-pack on, couldn't sleep otherwise.
Your videos are lessons and they're NOT boring ..
Thanks for watching!
Hi Dr Dray, I would really appreciate some input on my plan. So currently I am using differin gel every night. I am washing my face and applying moisturizer prior to applying the differin. After watching this video I think my skin could benefit from some Benzoyl Peroxide. I liked the wash idea the most.
Correct me if I am wrong but should I do the routine in this order?
1. BP wash and rinse
2. Cetaphil gentle cleanser (or not?)
3. CeraVe daily moisturizer
4. Apply differin
5. Go to bed
AM
1. BP cleanser again?
2. Cetaphil gentle cleanser?
3. CeraVe daily moisturizer?
Can I use the panoxyl stuff anywhere on my body?
Thanks for any input! I’m so tired of dealing with my skin it’s so annoying.
ALSO, what is your favorite go to moisturizer?
The acne.org benzoyl peroxide is really good. Helped me get rid of my acne 😀
Plz mj bta dain
Great information! You have a gorgeous skin Dr Dray;)
thanks!
Hi! I like the way you explain! We understand very well the role of the product with the example of the battle with one or more individuals. We know that this active ingredient will fight the whole problem. I think it's important to know what you put on your face. Know how benzoyl peroxide works and what the side effects can be on our skin. If you go to the dermatologist, it will be easier to understand the instructions and ask specific questions. I don't have this problem but if I know someone who has acne, I can give them the name of this video as a reference before going for a consultation. Thank you!
This makes me excited to try it! But i also wanna cry rn thinking about still struggling with acne even now into my late twenties, and bc i know this huge painful pimple on my face won't go away by the time I have to do a video call with coworkers in the morning. This condition can really crumble your confidence even after having it for years
I recently went back on BP and my skin has never looked so good. I had really stubborn acne. Be sure to moisturize after
Hi Dr. Dray,
I'm hooked on your skincare videos! I get hormonal-related cystic breakouts along my jaw and upper neck and cheeks (less so lately) and tons of dark spots on my cheeks from when my acne was more severe. I've bought The Ordinary aha bha mask but i'm not sure if i should use this in conjunction with the glycolic acid toner (which i've seen progress with). I've started using the panoxyl wash and adapalene gel on my back but i'm not sure if these will be more effective on my face compared to the acids? Tia!
Dr Dray. Love your videos, thank you for the detailed information! I would like to see a video on Grover’s Disease, when I’m working out in the summer heat my entire trunk becomes extremely itchy and covered in red bumps. Don’t really understand where it comes from...and yes I shower immediately after!
Grover's disease is a pain! it can be triggered by sun exposure, as well as sweat, heat, and friction; the treatments are pretty frustrating and usually include topical steroid creams
I hate how BP gets a bad rep. Like “being nice to your skin” isn’t getting rid of the bacteria honey 😂😂
Being nice to your skin will be what saves your skin barrier. Benzoyl peroxide is extremely harsh, but it is very effective at being a band-aid solution at healing acne. So is to be used with proper caution. ♡
Then taking care of your inner body (health wise) + what you apply onto your skin, after to avoid future acne.
@@StephanieRZ it's mostly genetic
BP works really well for my forehead acne, but I guess my cheeks are more sensitive to it because the pimples on it tend to scar and look almost purple the next day. I moisturize very well and use a gentle cleanser but it doesn't make it better. Is there anything I can do to mitigate that?
Thank you Dr Dray, you're the best!! Greetings from Morocco ^^
Dr. Dray, So interesting. I never knew the many benefits of BP. Thank you! :)))))
Thanks for watching!
My insurance wouldn’t cover benzaclin so I had to get topical Clindamycin and I’ve been using it alone. About to go get some benzoyl peroxide acne wash. So glad I watched this video!
I’ve battled acne for most of my adult life and consistent use of benzoyl peroxide (I use the acne.or regimen) is the only thing that helps my skin. So thank you for explaining why it works!
Me too! but it dries the hell outta my skin to the point where it causes redness and burns from moisturisers, basically very irritated skin and im on my 5th month.
Might look into other BP products like the one from Paulas choice :D
Does it cause aging?
I recently discovered this myself. After 30 years of trying every expensive option around, the simplest treatment of benzoyl peroxide and plenty of moisturizer is what cleared it up for good. Yes, it can cause redness and dryness, but after some experimentation I landed on the perfect combination for my skin, which is nutrogena oil free moisture, 5% benzoyl peroxide cream for the T zone and 2.5% everywhere else. I apply that after every shower, and also before bed. Be careful about sun exposure and also with clothes and fabrics because it can bleach things fairly easily. Still, I won’t go back to other treatments. For the first time in my adult life I feel liberated from the scourge of acne.
@@adamm8067 yesss👌👏👏👏😘🇦🇷
