    My dermatologist feels comfortable with me using benzoyl peroxide 2.5% and higher concentrations in a wash form during pregnancy. It’s kind of up to the individual derm, I think. Ive also used 2% salicylic acid in both washes and the Paula’s Choice BHA during both pregnancies with no issue. Many derms feel that over the counter concentrations of 2% and below are fine. That being said, please don’t take that as a go-ahead to do it. Always consult your dr before using anything when you’re pregnant. I’ve discovered that OBs are by and large not very knowledgeable on skincare stuff, at least not as much as I feel like they probably should be. But hey, they’re more concerned about systemic things you’re using when pregnant. My OB really had no clue when I asked her about it and just recommended Cetaphil. So understand that seeking out a dermatologist while pregnant may be the route to go, because your OB, while fantastic at their specialty, may not have the skincare knowledge to give you recommendations. She really just said that retinoids are a no-go, which we all already know. I’ve never even had an OB bring up skincare. They’ve always mentioned foods and systemic meds but never anything topical. So if you’re concerned, you’re going to need to bring it up

      I haven't heard of any issues aside from environmental concerns since it's a petroleum product (made from fossil fuels), but so is OG Vaseline (petrolatum) and many other skincare and cosmetic ingredients.
      PEG is the active ingredient in Miralax/glycolax. In the hospital we have patients drink massive amounts of it before colonoscopies and colonographies as part of the "bowel prep kit" to clear out all the poop. It's very benign, it was also part of the bowel protocol at the hospital where my dad was an inpatient for 9 months, he and all the other inpatients drank it daily. It's even an ingredient in the Pfizer vaccine! I'm not a dermatologist, but if you can inject it into your muscle and consume it daily for 9 months or take an excessive amount of it while fasting then I feel pretty safe with it being an ingredient in a topical product.

I use panoxyl as a mask on my face after oil cleansing & while I shower then do a second cleanse. I just have some hormonal bumps on jawline once a mo.. but they drove me nuts. Now they’re gone. I’m 38 & just started getting clogged pores on chest & think it’s from working out w a dif bra that doesn’t let my skin breathe. And the panoxyl has done Nothing. I am gonna try an sa cleanser. Any you recommend? I wanted to try the cerave one. But their other cleansers my skin hates.

I use Cerave SA cleanser (salicylic acid) and Cerave pm moisturizer twice a day. Also until my acne cleared up I used Neutrogena rapid clear acne gel (benzoyl peroxide) once a day all over my face and after my other face wash just spot treatment. It took months but my skin is no longer red, it never burns, it is so much less oily, and my acne is finally gone. I only had a brief "stint" with benzoyl peroxide, it was what was OTC in my country and we actually didn't know it would bleach everything it came into contact with! That was quite surprising. I was in my teens back then and of course me being me at the time, I didn't read how I was supposed to use it; I just globbed it on (OMG, so shameful LOL)! I eventually went to the dermatologist, in my late 20s / early 30s because instead of just "pimples", by that time, I was getting very painful under the skin ones. Thankfully we discovered my acne (cystic) was hormonal, and I was in the market to go on birth control at that time anyway. So it worked out. Thank you for this video! :D

      You can’t really avoid the bacteria production though which produces at a rapid rate and sponges which should be avoided at all costs. There are ways to disinfect but you would need to completely sterilize your tools consistently. If you have acne, the bacteria of your acne transfers all over your face when you’re using tools to apply it. I love makeup too but I love clear skin more and my skin has improved dramatically since ditching the face products and tools

    UVA is the type of radiation that contributes to skin aging most, so basically that small study suggests that bpo and uvb do contribute to aging. Acne patients age better because they typically produce more oils

    Hello Dr. Dray, I've been watching your videos and about a month ago I saw one where you recommended benzoyl peroxide for acne. I decided to give it a try and it burned my skin really, Really bad so I completely stopped using it. 2 days ago I bought the neutrogena oil free acne wash for red acne and I have tried it for 2 days now and my face is completely red with alot of hives, and it burns really bad. Does that mean I'm very sensitive to both BP and SA and should not use it at all?? It just sucks that both of those ingredients irritate my skin so bad!! Now I have red patches of pimples all over my face.

    I have never been bothered with scenic skin fortunately, but, have used salisylic acid 2% for several years. I am 56 and have noticed texture and appearance of larger pores. Salisylic acid seems to make my pores appear smaller. I prefer to keep my skincare regimen to a minimum. BTW, I very much enjoy the music at your video outtake, I sometimes backup and listen twice!!!💞 Very much appreciate you sharing your expertise in these videos!!

    Have you ever spoken about the rise in skin cancer over the years? I find It interesting that in the 1960’s for example no one worried about wearing sun screen, and skin cancer was not as common... now we are seeing young people as young as 19 with skin cancer. Do you have any thoughts on It?

    • @baileymadison9019
      @baileymadison9019 3 года назад +2

      My theory is that during the first half of the 20th century people were much more cautious about sun exposure by wearing less reveling clothing and hats as it was fashionable at the time and believed to prevent aging(which was true!). As the century progressed people became much more inclined to tan their skin thereby causing more sun exposure in young people, and as fashion became more revealing the surface area that was exposed was much larger than before.

    Hi Dr.Dray! This vid and the last one that you talked about Benzoyl Peroxide came just in time for me because I just went to see a dermatologist a few days ago and I was prescribed benzoyl peroxide with an oral medication. However, I notice my skin feels burned so much and it lasts for around 1h to go away despite the fact that I use just a tiny amount of it. May I ask if that is normal?

    Thanks for another very informative video Dr Dray. I have been using the new CeraVe BP wash+clindamycin gel+Differin nightly for a couple of months, and still have new acne forming. Shouldn't that be near impossible with the antibacterial power of these medications?! I'm going to message my derm, not thought it would be interesting to make a video about why some acne medications may or may not work for some people, or why some people's acne is more stubborn than others. Thank you again for all the education, it's just a frustrating condition!

    • @andrewpersaud4144
      @andrewpersaud4144 3 года назад

      That's a ridiculous routine in my opinion. You want the benzoyl peroxide as the "leave on". You have it in your cleanser and then wash it off. Differin and clindamycin is a waste of time for acne.

    Hello, Dr Dray, I've been struggling with my current skincare routine as I'm attempting to incorporate the Hada Labo hyaluronic acid lotion and the Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant, and I'm unsure about what order to apply them in ? I understand that hyaluronic acid needs to be applied to damp skin for it to retain moisture, although I worry that I'd need to seal it in with moisturiser afterwards, and I wouldn't be able to apply my liquid exfoliant on top... any advice ? I've also recently purchased the Inkey List's Niacinimide serum and have no clue where this would fit into my routine as well, any recommendations would be very much appreciated !

      That helped my acne using spiro it took up to 3 months to really start then after that it started clearing up fast and stayed clear and then I used cerave wash and moisturizer and tretinoin at night and just spf in the am or sometimes benzodiazepines peroxide just as a spot treatment on a bad pimple here and their. I now only get occasional pimples but I stay with the routine it works.

I started epiduo last night, my skin is súper sensitive so today I already have some irritation... i also have adapalene 0,1% by itself.... Is it necessary to use epiduo every single day if im on oral antibiotics??? (Doxiciclin). Or can I switch every other night between epiduo and adapalene so my skin doesn’t get as irritated??? I would appreciate your advice❤️LOVE FROM 🇨🇱 🌈😘
