    My preferred approach for "printing out"/recording an arrangement is to setup all your clips first. Arrange them in the session view option in Push with each scene (horizonal lane) being a progression of your track (e.g. 1st scene is the intro etc). Once you have your scenes how you want them, press shift + record to record into arrangement view and click the play button alongside each scene/horizontal lane according to the progression you want. You can also tweak effects, levels etc for transitions, builds etc as you go (or you can add these in the arrangement in Ableton Live afterwards). I guess your approach is more tailored to live performance/production which makes sense...

    Thanks for this! I have been looking for an explanation of how to record clips in the context of performing live - and it seems the combination of push with the APC helps a lot and also recording everything at the same time on arrangement view is genius - I was thinking if it was possible but had never tried it. This is a way to make Ableton your instrument, not only a daw, but something you perform on.

    Bro this video got me off on a session today, the idea of creating a template with a limited selection of good options really inspired me, ended up with a lovely template of my favourite instruments and 2 completely different tracks started that both sound pretty nice to me. Cheers

    whut up Meta Mind Music!? got some feed back for me on the mpc40? the context im asking from is; I have a push3 and am a beginner to ableton, have ableton 11. I have 3 years into live looping currently using the BOSS505MKII, and I run all my instruments through a analogue mixer then use the FX send dials on each track to send which instrument I am playing live to go to the looper. I always send multiple hand drums through the looper for looping and for effects to turn a pot drum into more of a synth sounding instrument, creating more melody with percussive hits and manipulating effects dials live. I sing with my live performance, melodically and lyrical and flow hip hop style. I want to be able to “multitrack record”my individual instruments simultaneously and move those individual tracks in and out. I sometimes bring a turn table to my live performance (ecstatic dance is my main performance space) and sample from records or even play a full track then bring back more live looping. so far im only using push as a sound generator or finger drumming instrument and not looping directly on the push. I do have an 8 input preamp with ADAT that i could integrate in place of my mixer perhaps? but haven’t yet. I am designing an instrument that is a blend of a live band style mixer and a sampler with input and track effect for each input and each loop but im wondering if there is something like what i am envisioning that already exists. I specifically want what im working with to be tactile enough and not tons of digital screen scrolling, hand on, you know?? What do you say on this topic you most down to earth and creative and learning zen mind beginners mind musician guy bro ?

    What I wanna know is how you got the drum kits to sound so proper together. Like the shuffle at 5:02, I cannot for the life of me get that to not sound robotic or weird sounding. Was that a chopped sample?

    • @metamindmusicofficial
      @metamindmusicofficial  6 месяцев назад +1

      The shuffle feel has been easiest to achieve for me with a focus on alternating hands (like a drum kit). With a little practice you can really start to feel out the accents on the left and versus the right hand - which opens up a whole world of rhythm. As for the sounds & samples they're from a drum rack called Cycle Rack from Studio Sensei - they've been well curated. All individual samples - no chops.
      I think the key is to find samples that have similar drum tones & "space". i.e if your snare sample is pretty mid range focused and pretty chill overall it might not make sense to have am aggressive kick drum with a huge low end

    thank you for this video. Curious, is there a way to lock the Push3 to a specific device or keyboard mode while launching tracks on apc ? the moment i click a clip of apc it also changes whatever mode i had , i.e playing keys or tweaking devices

    This is pretty cool. I really wanted Ableton for the longest time because of the clip based live looping & session/arrangement options. But after trying out every single major DAW except Logic, i realized that it would just be redundant for my particular workflow...because i already do most of my midi production on Maschine Mk3...and it workflow is essentially just like this is. So the more i considered it, spending the 7-to-$800 on Ableton suite just didn't make much sense...seeing as how i already have that convenient clip based workflow in Maschine. With all of it integrated perfectly with my K14 and my NI keyboard.
    I do still own Ableton light, Bitwig 5 and Studio One 5 l...but I rarely ever even open them up, because Reaper just does all I need it to do more intuitively when im ready to move into the DAW to finsh out a complete song.

      @metamindmusicofficial  5 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely no need to use Ableton + Push/APC 40! I know a ton of people who use Machine as have very similar setups - glad you found the tools that vibe with you :)

      Kind of in a situation where I bought the Ableton suite upgrade but im realizing im still more efficient in Reason. The reality is you will master whatever you put your full attention to over a period of time.

    Really cool setup! Do you maybe know if there is a cue function in Ableton? I want to plug in my headphones as well as some speakers, so when I have a jam session I can play around with some idea and listen it on the headphones, while everything else is playing on the speakers (something like DJ mixers have).

      Launchcontrol XL + Launchpad, you get all the goodies from the ApC40mkii, plus a sequencer on the launch pad.
      Apc 40 is great but difficult to customize

    • @EricJohnson-fh8zj
      @EricJohnson-fh8zj 6 месяцев назад

      If a person's reason for making music is making "hit records", they're doing it for the wrong reasons.
      Obviously the odds of recording a hit record is like playing the lottery...its not something that can ever be counted on, no matter how good you and your songs are. Especially these days. You can very well have a smash hit song, and still struggle to even eat lol. Streaming services, tik tok, youtube...the pay tenths or sometimes hundreds of a penny per play. The good old days of having people appreciate whole albums and support the artist by purchasing that album are gone.

      @@EricJohnson-fh8zj Well,... obviously that is just your personal opinion.
      When I was signed as a music producer / musician with Deathrow, Aftermath and Interscope records respectfully. Our goal was to create hit records; and we did over and over and OVER. It is a process of knowing the market with an intensity and passion beyond the norm, for sure. Yet, it is and was 'for all the right reasons'.
      But, continue to DO YOU. I just asked and you answered. #respect
