If a hotel charges you an extra cleaning fee make them prove they had to pay someone the extra $150 or whatever it. I work ar a hotel and they charge guests $150 extra when the room only takes us housekeepers about a half hour extra to clean. It doesn't cost them more than 15$ extra and they give the hiusekeepers NOTHING EXTRA for dealing with it. I dont tell them anymore nor will I take pictures unless there are actual damages. If Im not getting extra for having to clean disgusting rooms then neither is the hotel.

It is one thing to see the surcharge when you're making the reservation. But I stayed in the hotel in New York one time where there was no surcharge in the reservations process. However, other than the rate that was initially quoted, when we checked out of the hotel they charged us a $90 resort fee. It was nowhere listed in the reservation process. I don't stay at that hotel chain anymore.
