      The AWD is needed to trully create a serious competition in a Nordic country to Tesla since most sold Tesla is AWD. But the true competition will be with Model Y since Model 3 is a sedan.

    • @andrvas1
      @andrvas1 3 года назад +3

      They cost more or less the same over here, from my perspective the ID4 gives more value for the money. The only major advantage of the Tesla Model 3 is the acceleration and infotainment system. Model Y costs NOK 100K more than the ID4, so not comparable for the time being.

    • @Tafsern
      @Tafsern 3 года назад +3

      @@andrvas1 Acceleration is not that important in a family car tbh, as long as it's good enough. The ID.4 and Enyaq has decent acceleration...not really good, but not really bad. So imo that's not a major advantage, because you rarely need it. It's more fun to have.

    I did a 410km run with my new ID4 First base edition on Saturday between 4 and 9°C and dry weather on a mixture of back roads and motorway average consumption was 19.5kWh/100kms. Very happy with that and the car overall. Expect consumption should drop a little more when the summer comes.

    Nice video, as always! Didn’t expect a new record with crosswinds like this, which is practically head wind both ways. 👍 I think you should have split the charging in two, though. Adding 40% at Ionity Lillesand and 40% at Circle K Telemarksporten, would have cut the charging time by approx 10 minutes.
    Even with 4 minutes of extra overhead, you would be at 6:50.. (ABC, always be criticizing.. 😉)

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 года назад +3

      Me neither, so I was genuinely surprised! Yeah, you're right that there could have been some time to save in charging twice. But I'm pretty sure that the overhead would be more than 4 minutes. But still, some time could have been saved :)

  • @bilgyno1
    @bilgyno1 3 года назад +3

    So glad I ordered the ID.4 over the e-Niro... Specifically for this kind of trip it saves a substantial amount of time due to faster charging. And I drive a lot of these trips (400-500 km).
    I do wonder if another charging strategy could have saved some additional minutes. Charge to 60% and then add another 25% somewhere else at a lower SOC.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 года назад +2

      I think you made the correct choice as well :) Yeah, you could probably save a few minutes with an additional charging stop, but then the question is. How much of a detour is the second charging stop? Will there be vacant chargers? Will you have som issues with charging? How much time do you actually save? There are many "what ifs" :)

I have never seen such a big lag with mine (ok, about minute after starting it can be slow, but not in normal use). If you watch Bjørn's recent video about infotainment, that is how mine works. Pretty snappy if you don't compare Tesla's software. Also there hasn't been a single issue with Apple Carplay. But cleary there are ID.x cars, that have huge lags and issues still after 2.1 update.

    If you live in Canada, this is the best car for the money. Period. You'll get full goverment grants ($13000 in my province) making this car just a few dollars more than a comparably sized petrol vehicule.
    In the price range, we have 62kWh Leaf, Hyundai/Kia 64kWh trio, Chevrolet Bolt 66kWh... Until e-GMP comes with a more sensibly priced car, this will be the king of budget EVs in Canada as we don't get ID.3 (thanks to the US of A).
    Mach-e and M3 SR+ won't qualify for federal grant as the base price is too expensive.

And he is definitely a Tesla fanboy you can’t trust these for accuracy at all. My wife gets way uses way less kw on the same trip then I do so how you drive is also a important factor. Going from a to b should take about the same time whatever car you drive if you follow the speed limit, kw use and charging time is the only thing that should differentiate the cars.

      @@royhoynes2787 guys! Keep in mind you don’t buy a car just from excel and data. You should buy your cars by trust of engineering and other factors like space, practicability e.g. A Tesla has more acceleration but it only can accelerate. On a German autobahn it’s getting way too uncomfortable at 160kmh. The suspension is not good enough. Volkswagen always does a great job with the overall suspension and stiffness so you have a much more solid fast driving experience. And this is only one example. The sedan opening is terrible for transporting furniture. In an ID.4 you could easily put a whole ikea session 🤣. Another example is when you buy a new car at Tesla you need to take a list of errors with you and look at your brand new car finding a lot of these. And I don’t meant the small kind of things. A loose steering wheel, not right adjusted headlight which turns into wind noise… . I love driving Tesla much but as much as I do for 60k€ I would prefer Polestar, Volvo, VW, BMW or other prime brands. At last you have to consider how often in a year you drive more than 500km where the charging thing is necessary to have. Guess what VW is topping the charging speed to 180kW I bet until September 😉😊

      Most likely, VAG will try to consolidate software (components) across cars on the MEB platform.
      They will still look and feel Audi/VW/++, but writing core BMS, motor control, sensor monitoring, cabin & battery cooling/heating, even maps and entertainment specifically each time is just Plain Stupid!
      You might be thrilled by the individuality of your car, but the cost is that once your car, and it's software is in production and signed, the original teams move on to new things and your car is left behind with miniscule updates, as they cost a whole lot, and the number of cars/owners birching over stuff not getting stuff fixed is to low compared to a project cost of minimal gains.
      Am I snuffed as an Audi55 owner? Well, I hope it doesn't show, but I at least hope ID4/MEB is done correctly, and that the number of cars/owners forces VAG to realise software counts, and not AGAIN have to realise that what Lord Musk was correct, 10 years later

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 года назад +3

      It is because of traffic, and being behind a car on the two lane sections that drives just a few km below the speed limit over such a large distance is enough. This is not a scientific test or done in a lab, so there will be variables in the real world that will affect the time. Which is also one of the points of the test. Traffic can have a bigger influence than range and charge speed. In reality this test is more of an approximation than a 100% accurate representation 😊

    The only drawback is lack of frunk in VW ID4 vs Tesla or Mustang Mach E. But in AWD with fixed infotainment ID4 will sell like hot cakes.

    • @kompost1
      @kompost1 3 года назад

      Since the hood is comparatively shorter on an ID4, a frunk would mostly be used for storing charging cable, if they made the compartment for it.
      The downside of a fruite is high possibility of additional wear on hood paint and possibility of users unnecessarily fscking around with with the electrical stuff there.
      For the mackies' part: using the wet bar and spilling crap beer where there should be none.
      From a manufacturers point of view; it is cheaper NOT to build crap a user doesn't know he doesn't need.

    • @rj7855
      @rj7855 3 года назад +4

      IMO a frunk is wasted space, Tesla could have made the hood shorter and give the space to the interior and trunk.
      A frunk is a "solution" for EV platforms originally designed for ICE but if the car is designed for the start to be electric only there isn't any need for it other than trying to imitate the looks of an ICE car.
