  • Every 4 years the United States of America is electing a new president. The process itself is rather long and very old - even outdated - wich makes the whole undertaking somewhat complicated. In this video, we are trying to break it down for you anyway.

    😮🗳 It's astonishing how the winner-takes-all electoral system can sometimes result in a disparity between popular support and the actual outcome of an election. Situations where one candidate wins despite a significant portion of the population supporting the other candidate raise questions about the effectiveness and fairness of such a system. Exploring alternative electoral methods that better reflect the diverse preferences of voters can be crucial in addressing this issue.

    I bet very little of you been actually paying attention to this video. There's just a few errors but the only one I want to point out is at 4:18 it says 538 in the picture which is correct but the computer-generated voice says 535 which is incorrect. (Wrong)
    And the other mistake is although it's customary to give your electoral votes to the winner of your state it's not actually beholding to it. there have been very rare occasions where the Electoral rolls have voted the opposite way.

    For those of you who think the US presidential election should be simply a direct votes from the citizens, then you're not thinking things through. The truth is, most average citizens don't even know (or care) about what they even want. They just follow based on what the media says without even knowing anything. There has been so many videos where people were asked about which candidate they support (which obviously they answer in clear way -- A or B), but they can't answer anything regarding their candidate's agendas which they represent (the interviewer asks in ways like, "How do you feel about Person A's agendas regarding Agenda A?" Or "Do you know Person A's agenda in Agenda A? If so, what is it?").
    Sadly, people are too dumb. That's why there are electors, who actually know what they're talking about, and what it actually means. I say that's a better system than having the average citizen vote for the president.
    I'm aware that there are flaws in that system too (such as being vulnerable to bribery or corruption), but it's still better than having an average citizens vote directly.

      @@lil3bdu he had less votes from people, because "the winner takes it all" is almost existing in every state someone might get 49 % of the total votes in one state but gets none of the electors vote -> so you could potentially end up with more votes from people but less from electors.

      @@lil3bdu he was able to win enough states to have 270 electoral college votes. a candidate can still win an election in the united states even if they don't get the majority of the popular vote. the popular vote doesn't matter, the electoral vote does

    • @kelseymcguire4165
      @kelseymcguire4165 3 года назад +1

      I mean, maybe for the candidate elections where a delegate can change who they vote for if a majority is not found ... but electors exist solely to determine how much power any state holds they don't actually impose any checks or balances, they're just a rubber stamp and its still the result of citizen direct votes... Also how and when are electors reassigned? If they're not moved around every election to match population then you're going end up with inequality in the power of a voter.

      In some states there are more electoral votes in Relation to Population that in other states. That is how you can get more electoral votes than actual votes.

    The Big Boss Voting System: I gave the people of my town 2 candidates to vote for, either way they will vote for my chosen candidates who work for me.
    Likewise, many if not all the political systems work the same way. They let people vote so they think they have a choice or free to vote, but they don't know the candidates already have been chosen for them that work for the big boss!!!

    I'm well aware of how our political system works, since the concept of the Electoral College became the main vote , as a parties you can win the presidency and care nothing for the popular vote that went the other way . So we the people have allowed our leaders to overide what we want ,and gave them total control who runs our lives and our government.
