The Mizo people and the Kra-Dai people share a common ancestry and linguistic heritage.
Some points that highlight the connection between the Mizo and Kra-Dai people include:
    - Linguistic similarities: The Mizo language belongs to the Kuki-Chin branch of the Tibeto-Burman language family, which has borrowed significantly from the Kra-Dai language family.
    - Cultural similarities: Both groups share similar customs, traditions, and practices, such as their strong tribal identities and ancestral worship.
    - Historical connections: The Mizo people have historical ties with the Kra-Dai-speaking peoples of southern China and Southeast Asia, with migration and trade occurring between these regions.
    - Genetic similarities: Studies have found genetic affinities between the Mizo people and Kra-Dai-speaking populations, suggesting a shared ancestry.

The Zhuang and Buyei peoples of China, and the Tay and Nung peoples of Vietnam, are all part of the same ethnic group, belonging to the branch of the Baiyue-Liaoyue-Dongtai language family-Li people. They originated in Guangdong, China, and all Baiyue people are from Guangdong. The Liaoyue migrated to northern Vietnam, Guangxi, Yunnan, and Guizhou long ago. Together with the indigenous Baipu, the Qiang people from the north, and the Miao people, they established the ancient kingdoms of Dian, Ailao, and Yelang. Later, Emperor Wu of Han sent troops to conquer them, and these three kingdoms disappeared. Later, the Nanzhao Kingdom, the Dali Kingdom, and the Dai Viet Kingdom emerged independently, as well as the Lanna Kingdom and the Lan Xang Kingdom in northern Thailand and Laos. This is also why the Kra-Dai speaking people who were inferred through DNA reverse detection of the Kra-Dai language. The Kra-Dai speaking people in China remained in place and intermarried with other ethnic groups such as the Han people, while those in other Southeast Asian countries fled.

Bai Yue/Bach viet tribes .Ethnic groups who inhabited the regions of Southern China.InThe local minority speaks a Thai language related to northern Thai, a language spoken in Chiang Mai! When I tried to speak with a lady at a ‘Thai’ restaurant south of the Mekong river, I realised they use words in common with central Thai like ‘mai’ (wood), ‘nam’ (liquid) and ‘phak’ (vegetable), but their words for greetings were totally different from central Thai (‘sawasdee krap’), and so was the their word for rice (‘kao’ in central Thai). The touristic concrete architecture is Thai-inspired, but there are old houses with Thai style too, and there are buddhist monks.
If the current hypotheses are true, the Thai population of Thailand emanate from the Shan states in Burma which emanate from southern Yunnan.
