I am 68 years old. Extensively travelled in MG throughout in India. Steam, Diesel and Electric. traction. It is still available from Mettupalayam to Udagamandalam (Ooty) a heritage line. Your channel is awesome !

Wow, meter gauge still exists. Feeling nostalgic. Reminded me of the journey from Chennai Egmore to Tuticorin. As mentioned by you see saw movements, the ride used to be very jerky. Platforms used to be low in height . The reason for the Seesaw movement is that the passenger load is on one side of the train,
I am 57 years old as of now. I extensively travelled in steam hauled MG services between PKT to Egmore, Karaikudi to PKT, Secunderabad Bolarum, Secunderabad to Falaknuma, Madurai to Madras Cord line. Steam journey is amazing. I also got chance to travel in MG train hauled by YAM 1 loco
Travelled in local meterguage in Chennai and also to Chennai to all southern places... It was a different vibe.
I travelled in metre gauge route from Madurai - chennai (vaigai exp MG dedicated coaches with loco), madurai - rameswaram, Madurai - coimbatore ( via dg, Palani, Pollachi), tbm - vm (metre gauge route), nellai - tiruchendur (MG) all those are golden memories. Badly miss YAM eloco in & around chennai

Awesome bro. I turned 36 recently and while studying (2003 - 07) used Meter Gauge extensively from Karaikudi to Chennai through the mainline. It was the time when they were phasing out them entirely.. Great vlog and remembrance of MG trains.. Cheers!!

I am aged 58. I have travelled in Metre gauge Pandiyan Express train no 6718 from Madurai to Chennai from the year 1971. It was amazing. I was having railway time table from 1972 to 1999. All locos I have seen and travelled with steam, diesel and electric YAM-1. Those days were glorious and just like England we must keep our heritage and pride.
I have travelled many times in meter gauge Bangalore to Hubli also there was Narrow gauge from Bangalore to Bangarpet just like Toy Train in early 60s

Chennai had MG till 2003, Electric EMU was running from beach to chengalpettu. I have seen how tracks were converted into broadguage. construction started from beach Station,with in 2004 all the tracks were broadened and simultaneously tirumailai to velacheri construction was happening, I have traveled extensively in meterguage trains.
I'm 48 years old and have travelled by Meter Gauge a few times. The last time I travelled by Meter Gauge was in 2012 from Ooty to Connoor and before that from Tambram to Mayiladuthurai in the year 2005.
I travelled in my childhood in Sengottai Kollam route. MG always a great experience. Especially YDM 4A loco and coaches... MG in Blue color coach and Ponmalai green loco unforgettable experience
Hi Ajay: This is very nostalgic for me. I have travelled by meter gauge trains in the early 70s in Tamil Nadu. We were all very excited when we learned that the tracks would be converted to broad gauge and the trains would be bigger and broader. For 6 years, I also used to commute from Chromepet to Mambalam every day by the electric train to attend school

Bro, only MG train till 1994 in Madurai division !! Pandyan Express was 117/118 and used to take 11 hrs 15 mts to Chennai - grean livery with yellow band, used to Express fare if average speed was over 45 kms/hr.. Madurai Tirupati through mainline was 24 hours ! on Meenakshi express
Actually TN had one of the highest network of MG line in after the 90s. . The last decent MG train route in SR was TBM to Trichy main line. Many daily trains, prestigious trains ran .I have travelled many times. The most difficult part is 3tier sleeper. Getting in and out needs special skills. Else you could be trapped in it completely... But MG is more efficient to run than BG due less weight and quick accelaration.
It is taking so long to convert to BG almost > 35 years, (after project uni gauge was announced by the the RM Mr. Jafer sharief in Narasimha rao govt in 1991 to 96 period.) latest converted line was Theni MDU , still Peralam to karaikkal remains to be converted.

We used to travel from Bangalore to Velankanni, we had to get down at Trichy (Broad gauge) and change (to Meter gauge) at trichy for onward journey to Velankanni

Metre gauge is always special in my memory as i use to travel from Chennai to Kumbakonam in 1990s and till 2004.Also Metre gauge vaigai express was very fast in those days and it to use to cross in thindivanam when i was sitting in cholan express

I am from chennai in earlier all trains from egmore run on metre guage only...right from beach tambaram electric local pandian,pallavan,rockfort,ramesawarm exp runs on metre gauge with electric loco upto villipuram and diesel from villipuram to rameshwaram,tirunelveli.tiruchendur,trichy,madurai...its pride

There used to be a villupuram passenger meter gauge train ran till 2007 from tambaram to villupuram. I have travelled in it many times. Your video reminds me of that journey.
As a olden days i traveled in Metre cage train EMU and Old coaches the moment.... Last day of meter cage EMU was closed in MSB to CGL 😭❤️🥺 IT'S very hard.... I literally feeled bad.... It's sentiment connection to my heart ❤️

Earlier Chennai tiruchi rockfort was MG too. Travelled a lot in Rockfort and vaigai MG.
I travelled in Metre Gauge train "Quilon Express" from Quilon (Kollam). to Chennai. It was in the 1980s.

Upper berth is very inconvenient in meter gauge trains as distance between berth and roof is very less

Brother, nice and much appreciated! Yes I have travelled in meter Vaigai express from Chennai to Madurai..... Can you believe it was doing 110kmph!!! The yellow green livery or Orange yellow livery and total 9 coaches with one A/C coach with all coaches having chair cars and saloon sunglasses with tube lights!!!!! It used to run with meter guage diesel YDM4 loco with 110kmph!!!!!!!!!!.. The first maiden journey by meter guage diesel YDM4 has completed in 7.05 hours between Madurai to Chennai which even today the many broad guage trains are not doing!!!!!!!! Also it is noteworthy to mention that, for some short period, the train was running completely in silver white color!!!!
