I asked if i could pay in 2 payments of $400 over the course of 2 months. She accepted. I paid her on time. Done. Never spoke to her again. I didn't make her take me to court/arbitration. I didn't try to dispute the facts. I hit her car, I paid the price. Easy. If you are open, respectful communicative and you handle your obligations properly on time, the other party will generally work with you. Most people don't want to have to go through court or through their insurance. Make it easy. If you stonewall them or are disrespectful, they won't.
