My mom and dad had a 16 years gap. They had a loving solid marriage. He left way too soon. She widowed at 46 and never dated ever!. When I asked her 10 years after his passing why she didn’t date and got a new husband, she answered me “I have my love, I know we will meet again, then how will I explain to him that I got another man when he left?, besides I have no desire to share the rest of my life with another man”. So yeah true genuine love does exist, it doesn’t matter the age gap between a couple.

Years ago I bought a cargo van from a man for $300. It was beat to shit but ran like champ even with 200k miles on it. When I showed up, he was damn near in tears. After he passed away, (about a year later) I found a basket in the top of his closet, it had every card, note, letter and scrap piece of paper, that I had ever given him in chronological order dating back to 1995. He even had scrap pieces of paper that he had written my Hotel phone numbers on, after he received the information from dispatch... depending on which City I was dispatched in with the City's name, Hotel name and room number. 18 years is not that bad, especially she is already an adult when she met him. There are men at the same age or just few years older but they don’t treat you right and are abusive… vice versa. My wife is 11 yrs older than me, but I actually look older at 44 than she does at 55. I didn't marry her for her money. She's a stay at home mom and proud trad wife. We've been married 17 yrs. I was originally attracted to her beauty, but fell in love with her practicality and maturity. The girls I dated in my 20s were immature, high maintenance and dramatic. She was down to earth and no BS. It was refreshing. She had a career for 27 yrs with the same company, but gave it up to raise our son. She's amazing.

At 22 I married an older man . The 15 year gap didn't seem like an issue. We were ballin night & day. It seemed copesetic. Until I finally blossomed into A FULL GROWN ADULT. The marriage lasted 14 years. The last 10 were the hardest.

Sometimes we go through things and are more mature than guys our own age or guys our own age have traumatized us. As ling as God is your foundation then you will survive.

Honestly, WHEN you marry with that much of an age gap kinda matters. If, for example, you've both been alive for longer than the age gap and are at a similar life stage, then it doesn't matter. But if you're a 38 year-old man marrying an 18-year-old before she's even finished high school, people are going to worry the younger partner is getting preyed on. Meantime a 30-year-old marrying a 50-year-old wouldn't be as weird because both would be established adults. And a 60-year-old with an 80-year-old? No one would bat an eye.

I have been continuously ridiculed throughout my marriage and even by a lawyer and doctor. I say pray for everyone and even our enemies just like Jesus says. There is a healthy and happy balance that can take place in age gap marriages and one of the benefits is that the older one can support the younger one as their grounding in life becomes more solid. The younger one can take care of the older one as they go on through life. Of course there is cons to but as long as the pros outweighs the cons and it is true Godly love, then it is worth it. If you went for her in her early 20's I definitely think it could be considered predatory especially if she wasn't economically stable. My mom married my stepdad whos 21 yrs older but issue is that he never did anything. She did all the indoor and outdoor chores. He even had scrap pieces of paper that he had written my Hotel phone numbers on, after he received the information from dispatch... depending on which City I was dispatched in with the City's name, Hotel name and room number. I can estimate a date based on the piece above and below it. That really blew my mind.

Honestly, WHEN you marry with that much of an age gap kinda matters. If, for example, you've both been alive for longer than the age gap and are at a similar life stage, then it doesn't matter. But if you're a 38 year-old man marrying an 18-year-old before she's even finished high school, people are going to worry the younger partner is getting preyed on. Meantime a 30-year-old marrying a 50-year-old wouldn't be as weird because both would be established adults. And a 60-year-old with an 80-year-old? No one would bat an eye.
