  • Ground breaking started today for the $12 billion high-speed passenger rail line between Las Vegas and Southern California.
    Brightline West, whose sister company already operates a fast train between Miami and Orlando in Florida, said the electric powered trains will cut the four hour trip across the Mojave desert to a little more than two hours as the trains will travel at a speed of 186 miles per hour.
    The tentative goal is to have the line open by 2028, just in time for the summer Olympics in LA.

People on that train all the time, high speed rail’s the furthest thing from a waste of money out there that’s why every other decent country’s already got it! @MrMarshmallow26 just look at the Las Vegas monorail. It has consistently lost money every year since it's inception, yet the LVCVA buys it? And it continues to lose money ...
      The high speed rail is a boondogle of epic proportions, and probably a side effect of the pot proponents from both NV & CA

    • @MrMarshmallow26
      @MrMarshmallow26 12 дней назад

      @@hclvchef Not a good comparison. LVCVA is a government agency. Their goal is not to make a profit using the monorail, but to provide another transportation option for the public. The monorail is about more than making a profit. Brightline West is trying to make a profit, however it doesn’t really matter since they’re backed by investors that own more than just Brightline. Being a private company, they’re going to get the project done or else they would just announce a cancellation of the project, or not build there at all.
