Take your time! Only use however much of the patch panel that you need to minimize the repair area and save time. Good luck! If welding...... Hang a welding balanket or even cardboard if that all you have across the side of the truck and glass to protect from sparks. They can damage paint and pit the glass.

I think they have workers that are in hurry and don't watch what they are doing or don't care how the panels look. They should have a person to check them to make sure they fit right. I did some wheel wells on a 07 Chevrolet Silverado and it was my first time doing this kind of work. They turned out good. Looked brand new when I was done. Now I want to do body work like this. I have a good wire feed welder that works good for this kind of work. I tried Chicago welders and they was junk. Liked the video also.

Thank you! You can do it. Just practice a little on some scrap. I like to set my welder just a little hot so the tack happens immediately. Quick on and off the trigger and space out your tacks. Nothing to it.

I use the harbor freight 200 titanium multi process welder. It works really smooth and a great price. It might weld nicely and you can arc weld up to 1/2 with it also. The tig welder that comes with it works nicely also if you need some precision. The Miller mattic outfitted would be 2k with bottles and the titanium would be 1200 outfitted with a better warranty. All up to you of course.

@@richardnott9587 You are right. I actually just did some work at a friend's place and I used his harbor freight machine. Worked just fine. The miller I have is actually close to 5k for the setup I have so welders can definitely get pricey.

quick question i’m doing a complete paint job on my truck ,but i’m not sure if their would be a difference between wet sanding it or dry sanding or is their a difference at all when at the prepping stage

    • @genuinejake9851

Are the patch panels good quality. Is the metal as thick as the original panels.

I was pleased with the quality. I didn't actually measure them but yes I feel like the were as they should be.

Where did you buy your panels? I have to do all rockers and cab corners on my truck and I’m having trouble finding place that has everything I need. Having the 3rd door isn’t helping me either
