I have some various videos on my channel where my road trip friend and I went out west a couple times. We had a pretty rough night in Sallisaw. We stayed at the "Golden Spur" motel, which although on the budget end of things, was fine on the previous trip. This time, the party was on...one beside his room and one beside mine. Never again. We stayed at the "Historic route 66 motel" in Tucumcari the next night, which was very nice. I think Tucumcari was the last holdout before I-40 was constructed around the outskirts of town.
hey thanks for the video of your trip definitely a dream of mine to tour the awesome USA in a 66 Tbird, all the best to you from Australia really hope you are well all get thru this difficult year. Chris
Bussauto Thank you for the kind words. It was a great experience despite all the setbacks. We plan to do the Hot Rod Power Tour next year (COVID willing) in the Thunderbird!
I can hear a little rattling going on under the hood?! Check the oil! Approximately how much oil is the T bird using every 500 miles? Are you using 50 weight oil?
So! What and when the next leg of this trip? Any plans on how far along the route do you plan to travel? Daily goal of miles travel? It looks hot? Hope the air conditioning is working?! Not many cars on the road?
L Kendrix The A/C worked perfectly, blowing around 40 degrees from the vents. The car is in Memphis now getting the leaks fixed and a new brake booster, then we’re looking at perhaps doing the Hot Rod Power Tour next year!
L Kendrix Not many people in these little towns, but we did meet some really wonderful people along the way. I wish we could have gone all the way from Chicago to California, but we didn’t.
Thanks for taking us along on this great trip. A few issues but not too bad when you think how long the Thunderbird was waiting for this trip.
Thanks for bringing us along! I would be glued to the TV if you started a Studebaker restoration!
I’d LOVE to find a 64 GT Hawk, but really any Stude would be awesome! Maybe you can help me find something within a reasonable distance of SC
What great road trip. Love the T - bird. Hope you have a safe trip home.
Thank you so much!
What a cool trip to take with your Dad! Wish I had the confidence to drive my 66 T-Bird on a trip like that. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, it was a wonderful experience
Tinker, scissor tail sculpture on the pedestrian bridge over I-40 in OKC. Should of honked when you went by. 👍🏻
Next time!
Great stuff, Sean. What a trip for the old girl!
Yes it was!
congrats
Thanks! Part 3 comes out next week, followed by the full video (all 3 parts) as well as new Porsche videos!

I’ll have to check them out, and will subscribe today!

I live in the south (TN), but my family lives in NM and AZ so I always enjoy getting away from the "green" and the humidity.
I was born/raised in Memphis, and didn't think I'd ever say this...but I do miss (some of) the humidity.
Where are you in TN?
@@AutoAnatomy I am right on the AL/TN border just above Athens, AL
Awesome! We have family in Athens/Elkmont. Maybe I can check out your fleet when we’re there next!
@@AutoAnatomy Nice! That would be great, that's just down the road.
Do you add a lead substitute to the tank when you fill up this car?
No, I've never had any issues with no lead fuel on valve seats. Even the Model A runs on regular unleaded
@@AutoAnatomy Okay, I was told to use a lead substitute on my 1966 Continental.
I can hear a little rattling going on under the hood?! Check the oil! Approximately how much oil is the T bird using every 500 miles? Are you using 50 weight oil?
L Kendrix We’d use around 5 qts per 500 miles.
Auto Anatomy WOW! That would make me turn around and head home! Or have it towed back! That bird is burning oil!
So! What and when the next leg of this trip? Any plans on how far along the route do you plan to travel? Daily goal of miles travel? It looks hot? Hope the air conditioning is working?! Not many cars on the road?

Auto Anatomy Thank you for your response! I’ve always wanted to do the Power Tour! It came nearby here in Wisconsin.
Not much activity going on in the towns you and you Father pass through?! See many people? Are you going all the the to Santa Monica?
L Kendrix Not many people in these little towns, but we did meet some really wonderful people along the way. I wish we could have gone all the way from Chicago to California, but we didn’t.
Auto Anatomy Next year! Get that bird running right!
Beautiful car, beautiful scenery. Please don't Thelma & Louise this car....Yes, I heard the ticking. Good grief.
Don’t worry, not gonna happen!
Need to get that lifter changed out before you wipe a camshaft lobe.
Prairie State Auto Restorations Getting fixed now!
Auto Anatomy Good to hear. You’ve put a lot of work into her, keep it up! Great job!
