Saw KJ supporting Joy Division in February 1980. Youth was playing bass at the time. He wore an immaculate white suit. They were brutal. I remember this fabulous performance from "The Tube" back in 1983. Those were the days.........
in have seen these live a hundred times but i still get goose bumps every time i see them. they are the kings of heavy post punk rock industrial electronica music that influences those of today. there is the only one killing joke and gosd bless them and i hope they caRRY ON FOR YEArs to come.
I always enjoy this performance far more than the studio version. Not only are they great to watch anyway but it just has something more primal going on. Have to say also, as much I think the first LP is amazing, I do prefer seeing Raven to Youth in KJ. Youth looks out of place with that stupid visor he puts on his head all the time. What's that all about? Raven's cool. Yeahhhh.
In the 80's we did not have Guitar Hero fake guitar playing, we had to learn real guitars. We did not online fantasy games that take years to achieve nothing, we had time to write songs, and live "real" experiences we can put in those songs. We did not have construction kits and presets galore, we had to learn our technology and actually know how to play. In the 80's, people bought records and did not just steal them so record companies were more open to a wide array of artists. Now = rehash pop
And you could go out on a Friday night with half a crown, drink eleventeen pints, pay for a brass and come home on t' bus with fish and chips and mushy peas and scraps and still have change in your pocket next morning etc etc.
Hey the funny part is all those stolen music files can only be burnt to some crappy plastic disc that at best that will be scratched and useless in a week or played on junk players that crash and lose the harddrive. VINYL IS FOREVER!
@@davidsanderson5918 they never tuned to Drop D, at first they were in E flat and then D-Standard, but they seemed to be tuned a bit lower in this performance for some reason.
The absolute comical juxtaposition of the singer and the guitar god is mind boggling
So much better than the official version.
