Sad day, November 28, 2023. Geordie Walker really brought out the eerie in Killing Joke's sound with his strange tunings and riffs. What an awesome guitarist (and band of course). No one dared to sound like them. I wish I'd seen them live.
Truly amazing experience live. It was more of a ritual than a gig when you saw KJ live. The thing that always got me with Geordie, was that he never looked like he was playing, looking so relaxed. But the walls of sounds he produced never failed to amaze...
Shamanistic rhythms and musical exorcism performed in a regular British TV studio in 1983. The forefront and Jaz clearly in trance, while Geordie as always seems to think about his groceries while pounding out earth greatest riffs. Great footage and one of the best bands ever!
Its a shame these guys aren't that big in America. So little people in the US know just how influencial these guys were to rock music, hell most people haven't even heard of them.
He used to use Burmans back in the day. They went out of business years ago but I believe they have been resurrected somewhat. Not sure what the stuff sounds like in comparison to then though.
To me, the Joke's two appearances on The Tube are the most important televisual moments in history.
Then perhaps you haven't seen this Tube performance... ;)
